Jota joins Salah, Mané and Firmino in Liverpool front four for Newcastle clash

Diogo Jota (£7.1m) is fine after all, afforded a third successive Premier League start.

Crucially, his latest appearance has not come at the expense of Liverpool’s headline attackers.

Mohamed Salah (£12.6m), Sadio Mané (£11.7m) and Roberto Firmino (£9.0m) all feature as Newcastle come to Anfield.

It is the first time the quartet have shared the pitch together since the second half of the Gameweek 30 win over Arsenal and just the third time all season they have featured together from the beginning.

The last two times were the Gameweek 8 draw with Manchester City, two matches after a Gameweek 6 win against Sheffield United. Across those matches, Firmino, Jota and Salah got the goals for Liverpool.

“There’s a moment where we can do that (start all four of Jota, Salah, Mané and Firmino). All the boys are fit and in a good shape so we have to give it a proper try.” – Jurgen Klopp

Thiago Alcantara (£5.5m) and Georginio Wijnaldum (£5.3m) provide support as a two-man central midfield while Fabinho (£5.4m) remains at centre-back in the absence of Nathaniel Phillips (£4.1m).

Ozan Kabak (£5.0m) makes his fifth-straight Premier League start while Andrew Robertson (£7.1m) and the in-form Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m) retain their full-back berths.

Steve Bruce is still urging caution with Callum Wilson (£6.5m) following his recent hamstring injury.

The centre-forward has featured as a substitute in each of his last two Premier League outings and is on the bench for a third match in a row today.

That sees Joelinton (£5.7m) lead the Newcastle line supported by Miguel Almirón (£5.6m) and Allan Saint-Maximin (£5.1m) who has produced 18 points across his last two appearances.

Blank Gameweek 33 Line-ups

Liverpool XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Robertson, Kabak, Fabinho, Alexander-Arnold; Thiago, Wijnaldum; Mané, Firmino, Salah; Jota.

Newcastle United XI (3-4-2-1): Dúbravka; Dummett, Clark, Fernández; Ritchie, S Longstaff, Shelvey, Murphy; Almirón, Saint-Maximin; Joelinton.

And why did he get kabak?

We look really poor, we don't deserve to be in top 6.

FSG are tight as it is and with less CL money.. well. Mane and Firmino are declining and need replaced/fazed out. No CL Football will limit the type of players they can attract.

No he didn’t. He was brilliant in first half. Had 4 shots. It was the tactical, plus he was quieter in the second half.. did you actually watch the game out of interest?

Liverpool were quite open with a front four. Think klopp brought on Milner to make them more compact, which did happen, but also decreased their attacking output.

Salah 7 pointer as a capper neither feels like a loss nor a win scenario. Would've taken it before the game, but the amount of chances Liverpool had in the first half, feel it should've been more. And don't get me started on Jota. Bloody hell.

Yeah. Though it also depends on how the midfielder who they have in place of Jota performs, but as of now, I agree they have a big upper hand. One silver lining for me personally is that my ML rival who leads me and the league by 30 points capped TAA. So, I've made some ground even if not by much. Vardy is a major differential for me.

Also brought in Vardy. You should hopefully make half that lead back all going well. Me, I'm leading by 6 points in a tough ml leaders race. I have SalahC, they have Jota with Lei C. I also have Vardy+Nacho. Going to be an interesting gw 🙂

Agree somewhat. Nacho form v Palace 'should' be the more informed/intelligent pick. I/we were aware of Salah's form. I chose because he was assured a start v New after his rest. Could have been more, but I knew fatigue was a factor. Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted with the goal. Any day your Cap doesn't blank is a good day

At this level you just can't waste the number of open chances Liverpool did. They could've easily be 3 or 4 up at HT + 2 great chances in 2nd half and ended up with a draw.

We're similar v Real, first half v Arsenal. Running on empty a bit. Salah doesn't quit, high work rate, but nowhere near the sharpness of past two seasons. Not helped by Firmino and Mane dropping below their level too.

There was but never understood the rule. The price could be locked for a GW or maybe more but I couldn't understand why the price had to be locked?

It was the case and I remember it being discussed on this forum & the podcast at times. The FPL price of an injured player, according to 'those in the know' was locked until the player started/came off the bench or the club affirmed 'fit' status. It seemed/seems to ring true in practise.

Time to get rid of Jota? Thinking Greenwood or Siggy

Wait and see who's standing on Friday. Was planning to bench him and Shaw and start Greenwood and TAA.

I like both. Would also throw Maddison into the equation with fixtures

That’s quite some cash in the bank.
        Nice.

I've actually thoroughly enjoyed this seasons cash in the bank with all the big hitter injuries and lack of form across the board.

I think a rival had 12m in the bank at one point!

It’s incredible how I’m failing with every ‘supposedly good’ differential compared to my ML rival....
Gundogan, Jota, TAA, Mendy, just to mention a few !!
Ironically his past differentials nearly had all paid off...what a season!

Now strangely enough he goes and captain Lingard and will bet that he hauls !

Looking at the Liverpool nominal first team and only these players won't be in their 30s next season

      TAA
      Robbo (28)
      Gomez
      Fabinho (29)
