Scout Picks

Triple Gameweek 35 Scout Picks features three Man United assets

A Manchester United triple-up forms the spine of our Triple Gameweek 35 Scout Picks.

The Red Devils have three fixtures between Sunday and Thursday, so we have included three of their best assets accordingly.

Meanwhile, Liverpool, Leicester and Crystal Palace have each supplied two players to the best XI for Triple Gameweek 35.

As ever, we line up in the 3-4-3 formation and come in at £82.6m, £0.4m inside our £83.0m budget.

Goalkeeper

Vicente Guaita (£4.8m) makes a rare appearance in the Scout Picks off the back of Crystal Palace’s appealing pair of Triple Gameweek 35 fixtures. They face the division’s lowest scorers in Sheffield United, who are in the bottom four for shots inside the box alongside Southampton over the last six matches.

Defenders

Who has the best and worst FPL fixtures for the Run-In?

Saints also face Liverpool, arguably boosting Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s (£7.6m) defensive credentials while a Thursday-night meeting with Manchester United is unlikely to yield many goals based on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s usual tactics in the bigger matches. Meanwhile, during his last six, no Premier League defender has created more big chances than Alexander-Arnold.

Timothy Castagne (£5.8m) has recently become a key component of Leicester’s attack considering, among the Foxes’ players, only their centre-forwards and Ricardo Pereira have touched the ball in the box more often than him over the last six Gameweeks. The Belgian is, of course, much more likely to start twice in Triple Gameweek 35 and has 22 points in his last three outings.

Harry Maguire (£5.5m) is the most nailed-on Manchester United defender for Triple Gameweek 35. Since the Red Devils resumed European competitions, the centre-back has played every available Premier League minute from Gameweek 24 to Gameweek 34. Solskjaer’s men have conceded just three goals across their last six, the joint-best in the Premier League.

Midfielders

No top-flight player has produced more shots in the box than Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) over the last six matches, suggesting he will get plenty of opportunities against Southampton and even Manchester United in Triple Gameweek 35. Saints are inside the division’s bottom three for big chances conceded over the same period while the Red Devils could be suffering with fatigue by the time they host Liverpool on Thursday, having already played two games in three days before that.

Three matches for Bruno Fernandes (£11.5m) in Triple Gameweek 35 make it very hard to look past the premium midfielder in the Scout Picks. While there are doubts that he will start three times this round, the Red Devils do have the luxury of a four-goal lead against Roma in the semi-finals of the Europa League as well as no fixture in Blank Gameweek 36. Meanwhile, Fernandes has started every league match since Manchester United’s European campaign resumed in February and, over the last six, is top among all midfielders for expected goal involvement (xGI).

Mason Greenwood‘s (£7.2m) versatility and ability to do damage from the bench has helped him get into the Triple Gameweek 35 Scout Picks. Over the last six matches, he is top among all colleagues for shots in the box, shots on target and goals scored.

Wilfried Zaha (£7.2m) has supplied two attacking returns in his last four starts since coming back from injury. Crystal Palace’s next two opponents, Sheffield United and Southampton, are two of the three worst sides for conceding big chances in the last six.

Forwards

Since Gameweek 29, no Premier League player has been afforded more big chances than Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.5m). Meanwhile, West Ham and Aston Villa combine for a total of zero clean sheets over their last six matches.

Ollie Watkins (£6.5m) has produced either a goal or assist in each of his past five Premier League appearances, making him a useful addition for the Triple Gameweek 35 Scout Picks.

Kelechi Iheanacho (£6.3m) has become a virtual auto-include in the Scout Picks in recent weeks. Since Gameweek 24, he has notched up nine goals and two assists, suggesting he can still offer something against Newcastle and Manchester United in Triple Gameweek 35.

Substitutes

  • Edouard Mendy (£5.2m)
  • Lucas Digne (£6.1m)
  • Tyrick Mitchell (£3.8m)
  • Anwar El Ghazi (£5.2m)

Looks like you're set mate, wouldn't do anything for -4. How many games you think you'll get out of Forster?

Cheers. Originally I was hoping for 2 but at this point just happy with one appearance. Just not worth pouring money into another keeper IMO.

...it’s possible that Bruno and Salah both play 180 min this GW. In that case, would you still captain Bruno?

Doubt it, if you presume he doesn't play against AVL then it leaves Liverpool and Leicester and you wouldn't captain him if that was his dgw any other week

    A) Donkey Maddison Rash Shaw
    B) Donkey Greenwood Rash Castagne
    C) Watkins Auba Greenwood Shaw
    D) Donkey Auba Shaw Maguire

C probably the most sensible but B or D would be fun...

I think I like Auba more than Maddison this week...

I honestly think B ends up with the most points, just scared going without United defenders, seem a shoe in for 10 pts

I’ve always said defenders are best scorers in dgws

    2. Thomas Magnum

D is the most fun imo but basically you're hoping Auba does well against WBA cause how many points do you see him getting against Chelsea. Also depends if you see enough utd CS's to warrant the double up. You're right in C being the most sensible though

Why is there such a massive consensus building for Bruno's captaincy? Trying to understand this as this captaincy decision could be massive:

    1. He will start 2 out of 3, no chance he plays all three - at max he gets around 200mins across the 3 games (this is the absolute max I would expect, realistically I expect him to play 160-180mins)

    2. His form is nothing to speak of over the last few games in the PL - lot of players who do have DGWs and would play equivalent amount of mins have fared far better.

Is anybody else mulling over this? Would love to hear the community's thoughts.

Very good questions...still undecided. But it’s very exceptional to have a triple GW, what if he plays 60 in the first and full minutes thereafter...but I do worry about his stats though.

this is interesting and I totally agree - I don't quite get it either. For the record I dropped Bruno quite a while ago (not even sure when) and I haven't regretted. His EO makes any return pretty much a zero-sum game. And he looks way off his best. I brought in Greenwood this week rather than going back to him. Could misfire for me but I've no regrets about the decision making to leave him out.

He's got the armband for me atm and he'll probably keep it. Huge week for LIV's top-four or other European ambitions.

    3. waldo666
      • 13 Years
      2 years, 10 months ago

Have had the armband on Bruno and not considered someone else for a second. Agree he most likely won't start all 3 but I think he starts two and also gets minutes in the third.

He doesn't rest or get rested really and puts pressure on to be picked for every match, last night a classic example, I was surprised he was on the pitch as long as he was.

Yeah his form doesn't read that well of late in PL but has performed well in both fixtures of EL and we know his potential.

I honestly can't see a better captain pick this week.

It’s between Bruno and Salah for me. Even if Bruno only plays 2, that’s still as many as anyone else.

He is the top point scorer in the game, although I appreciate his output has dipped.

I’m not sure there is an obvious “better” pick, unless you want a differential

Can't decide whether to sell Kane (and try to bring him back for gw37) or just hold him. Planning to FH36.

    A: Digne + Jota/Zaha + Kane
    B: Digne + DCL + Kane (-4)
C: Jota + DCL + Vardy (-4)...would mean a hit in gw37 to bring kane back

To facilitate another move and give me 11 next week, would you (for free):

    1. Mendy > Pickford (and play Rudiger)

    2. Rudiger > Ward / Lowton (bench this week)

Currently on 2 as Mendy seems more secure and Chelsea fix don’t necessitate a double up

    Mendy
    Shaw Godfrey Phillips
    Jota Salah Bruno Son
    Kane Watkins Nacho

Yaaa it's a double hit. Have already bought players for a hit before the United tripple was announced! i am happy with my team, it just that I have only one player from United that being Greenwood.

Then it’s only -4. Each hit stands alone.

Irrespective, there’s no way I’d make that change for a hit

Anyone else going without Bruno (or any United attack) for the TGW?

With the number of blanks I already have in GW36, it’s effectively a -8 to do the hokey kokey. Salah feels an equally good choice for the armband this week, especially after Bruno played almost a full game yesterday (and Greenwood did play 90). And don’t even get me started on his current form haha!

This all boils down to one point: surely Son +8 is a better option than any United attacker?

(Disclaimer: if I had WC/FH then he’s a no brainer. But that’s not the boat for the majority)

Exactly. At a cost of 8 points, it’s a high stakes gamble.

I’m currently sitting around 45k and in two very tight MLs. They both have Bruno, but will struggle to field sides the following week. I lead by 12 and 7. I’m going all in on Salah and GW36

I don’t think he’s a worse choice. I may go with Bruno out of abundance of caution. I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it

I only have shaw. I basically had a choice between zaha and greenwood, went with zaha. I know he'll play 180 basically. greenwood may get a few minutes more that that, but not too much. And since zaha's games are much easier, went with him instead.

True, but think he sits the second game, maybe a sub if they're down in that one.

      I went Son and Maddison
To Greenwood and Rashford for a hit and kept Kane.
There was no easy way for me to get Bruno and I have missed him since dumping him weeks ago on WC. But I don’t really trust either for C so will probably C Salah maybe even triple C

Interesting. I’ve got both Son and Maddison and am keeping both for this week.

Maddison is gone next week. Not sure who comes in yet though...

Yeah I might regret losing Son. Maddison is different. Not got his mojo back since he has been back and seems to be playing deeper. Maybe two up front doesn’t help allow him be as attacking.

I only have Greenwood. I will not ruin the rest of my season by making stupid transfers to get him in and then out. Not with the form he is in. 24 pts behind my mini leader 33K.
Of course I am nervous and fearful, but I think it is the right decision.
Someone just told me to look what he did in the two Euro games...haha.

Yeah this is my attitude. Loading up on MUN players (without WC/FH) feels like the sort of thing you’d do if you were one of the guys who creates a team in the hope of being GW champ, with no interest in future weeks

I have Rashford, Greenwood and Shaw... Rashford my biggest differential, most players in my ML has Bruno, hopefully not having Bruno pays off, it's make or break time.

Would you start Rudi or Holding ahead of Dallas?
how confident for the former to start both?

    Mendy
    Trent Shaw Dallas
    Salah Bruno Lingard El Ghazi
    Kane Vardy Nacho
    Forster Rudiger Holding Harrison

Well want do you think Dallas will do against spurs?

Do you think those players are likely to score more in the one match they are likely to play? If so anything more is a bonus

dont really rate spurs defence so obviously capable of scoring
burnt before benching him so don't feel good about it
trying not to be blinded by the doubles unless of course we know either start both...

Help please. With low funds, two keepers who can play in gw36 and 3 bgw already next week I’m thinking about trading keeper to max tgw/dgw. Any views on the below?
    A) Ederson/ coady -> henderson/ shaw (-4) and requires a -4 next week
    B) Sanchez/ coady -> henderson/ kwp and no -4 next week
    C) Ederson/ bissouma -> henderson/ jwp and no -4 next week

Greenwood or Rashford (already own Bruno and Shaw)

Neither is owned by anyone in my ML currently and not sure they will unless using FH. It doesn't mater to me about GW36 blank as Im using FH.

    TIA

I've got Greenwood and the two you mentioned, if I had a choice now, I'm not so sure. Greenwood playing 90 last night wasn't ideal but Rashy playing through an injury isn't either.

I think both are very decent picks, probably doesn't help you out much, sorry!

But with hardly any weeks left. Surely you’ve got to go with differential captains?

I’m chasing 58 points. He’ll go with Salah or Bruno (C). Can’t have the same captain..

Well that is your first mistake. You should be 58 points ahead

But seriously, people generally do worse when they look at the opposition. It clouds their judgment and stops them making the best decisions
