Captain Sensible

Who is the best FPL captain for Blank Gameweek 36?

Despite four teams missing out on Blank Gameweek 36, there are still plenty of options for the latest Fantasy Premier League captaincy decision.

Harry Kane (£11.8m) and Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) jointly lead the Golden Boot race and, with three fixtures remaining for both, they are among the favourites to find the net this weekend.

But is there some potential ground to make up with some outside candidates? With Manchester City now likely to play a more regular starting XI, should we consider their assets for the armband? Do Everton strikers appeal against a leaky Sheffield United defence?

As always, the Captain Sensible article is here to help you with this week’s captaincy conundrum. As this includes extensive data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

CAPTAIN POLL

As expected, the two main Golden Boot candidates are leading the captaincy poll ahead of Blank Gameweek 36. So far, Liverpool’s Salah has been handed over 35.6% of total votes by our users.

Second-placed Kane has received just above 20.3% of votes ahead of his home match against Wolves.

The top five is closed by some familiar names, including Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.6m, 8.8%), Riyad Mahrez (£8.0m, 4.4%) and Ilkay Gundogan (£5.6m, 3.7%).

Shaw against Fulham assuming he plays is too good to pass up though. I'm currently resisting as Defender hauls are more difficult to predict.

Going for Lacazette + Nacho -> Ings + Antonio for a hit (have 9 players otherwise).
Gives me strike force of Ings, DCL and Antonio.
Am chasing 50 points and my rivals have mainly Bamford + Kane.

Worth going Kane-less as a differential?

Best pick for the run in?
    A) Saint Maximin
    B) Raphinha

Might seem obvious, but that extra 0.3m could leave me some needed cash for a GW37 BB, as I'm currently on Forster/McCarthy in goal

Which GW36 & GW37 combo do you prefer?

    A) Raphinha (bur, sou) & Digne (SHU, WOL)
    B) Mahrez (new, bri) & Coleman (SHU, WOL)

For A, in GW36 I have no subs so a Raphinha no-show would mean 10 players (not tipped to start in Team News)

For B, I would need to transfer in Dallas in tonight after deadline.

    Cheers

Who do you think will find form this GW, stepping up with a big score, and why?

Maybe someone who hasn’t scored well lately, has very low ownership, or is being broadly overlooked in the community.

Have you seen something in someone’s play or in their stats to make you think they could be ready for a breakout GW?

Extra points if you give a solid explanation for your pick.

Thomas Tuchel will have as much as £150million to spend this summer in a revamp of his Chelsea squad, according to The Sun.

Signing a new striker is believed to be Tuchel’s number one priority, with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku believed to be top of the German’s wishlist.

1 FT 2.4m. With Dunk out can't see past Dunk > Dallas or Coufal (someone with 3 good fixtures) to get 11 without a hit but really wanted to go for attackers in the last 3 weeks ... Any thoughts? Could punt on Robbo too, has he looked any good?

100% yes. To my mind you have 4 punts in that team. That’s fine if you want to just roll the dice but there is little statistically speaking that suggests trossard, eze or Richarlison are going to outscore more mainstream picks and are actually probably less likely to. I do like the ward prowse punt though.

Which of the following three transfers do people think would result in the most points for GW36 only. I'm prioritising my H2H knockout match.

    1 Maguire to Digne
    2 Maguire to Dallas
    3 Nacho to Bamford
