Captain Sensible

Who is the best FPL captain for Gameweek 37?

Fantasy Premier League managers have a straight shoot-out between three of this season’s best assets for the Gameweek 37 captaincy.

Bruno Fernandes (£11.4m), Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) and Harry Kane (£11.8m) are all in the conversation although any Fantasy managers chasing their mini-league rivals might be looking at differentials too.

Mason Greenwood (£7.2m), as well as Spurs’ midfielders Gareth Bale (£9.2m) and Son Heung-min (£9.7m) are also on the radar in a week with plenty of choice.

As always, the Captain Sensible article is here to help you with this week’s armband decisions. As this includes extensive data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

CAPTAIN POLL

It comes as little surprise that the aforementioned trio ofFernandes, Salah and Kane dominate this week’s Captain Poll.

Ahead of facing Fulham in front of an Old Trafford crowd, Manchester United’s talismanic midfielder has the slight edge with 33.1% of total votes so far.

Meanwhile, Salah currently sits in second with a decent chance of overtaking Fernandes, with his current backing at 32.0%.

After scoring Spurs’ first goal against Wolves and rewarding his owners with eight points in Blank Gameweek 36, Kane has been voted as the best captain for the upcoming round of fixtures by just over 15.0% of our users.

The only remaining player to have gained more than 5.0% of total votes so far is Greenwood, as he is looking to continue his impressive goalscoring form.

Agree it’s gotta be Bamford but think there’s a real chance Rodrigo gets the start this week. He was on fire when he came on.

      1. Sheffield Wednesday
        • 3 Years

I can trace my team's gradual decline back to when Bamford lost form, though I kept playing him. His expected goals on target over the last 10 matches is only 37th in FPL. Bielsa should be picking Rodrigo - but that hasn't been his history so far.

Iheanacho is second for XG On Target over that period, but hasn't returned against the 'big' teams . So against Chelsea I can't expect too much, though at least he should play over 60 minutes, something the others didn't last match.

Wolves don't look like strong opposition for Everton, but then neither did Sheffield Utd on paper. Everton have been poor at home unfortunately.

ha ha, Bamford gets a goal and assist, while Iheanacho only comes on as a sub but manages to score. My analysis is compost.

MINTY Guide to Jota Replacements (& The Return of FPL Live!)

Hey guys, had to take a big break from FPL content creation as ended up in hospital with a bad virus and a compression fracture in my spinal vertebrae but I am back albeit with a broken back. This week's hot topic is Jota replacements. We will be looking at all price ranges.

For those of you here for the return of my FPL Live! Twitch livestream, you can find me here each week where I will be discussing transfer options, running RMTs and captaincy picks:
    https://www.twitch.tv/spearmintspaff

Now to the meat and veg...

    Cheapies (£4.2-5.5m):

    ASR (Smith-Rowe - £4.2m)
Hot off 2 goals in 2, ASR is your cheapest option this week. Potentially a strong enable for the likes of Kane. CRY and BHA for his last two.

    Joey Willock (Willock - £4.7m)
In the form of his life with 5 in 7 and against the worst side in the league defensively on the flank they concede the most chances to.

    The Saint (Saint-Maximim - £5.1m)
The flashier pick to Willock and arguably a little more explosive. Can blow hot and cold though, plus SHU will be sitting deep against the ASM counter.

    Big Raph (Raphina - £5.5m)
Arguably the budget pick of the week with his season underliers and plum fixtures. Fitness a small concern.

    Jackie H (Harrison - £5.5m)
A megahaul last week has peaked everyone's interest. Will he get the minutes and involvement? A differential to Big Raph if you need one.

Middle of the Road Mids (£6.6-7.3m):

    Messi's Shin Guard (Lingard - £6.6m)
Fixtures but with a slight dip in form. WHU should play with a little more freedom now.

    Ferrando Torres (Torres - £7.0m)
Coming off a hat trick is the only MCI player to make the list (shoutouts to Jericho). I'm personally not a fan of any MCI assets for the last two due to Pep's wheel being catalysed by his wanting for the UCL title in a few weeks time.

    Gotwood (Greenwood - £7.2m)
On fire at the moment but as with Torres minutes are an issue with the UEL final on the horizon. Should play one at least.

    Mr Chelsea (Mount - £7.3m)
Playing for their season, Mount will be integral to everything at the Bridge.

    Premium Bois (£9.7-12.8m):

    Gareth Bally (Bale - £9.2m)
Should be primed for minute under Mase, don't forget his hat trick in 34 in 74 minutes. Fixtures not perfect but Villa this week look shaky.

    Sonny (Son - £9.7m)
A very safe pick. 90 minutes to be expected and surely a return or two to come. One to look at to hold and block if you're doing well.

    Kermit (Fernandes - £11.4m)
After his YouTube Kermit sensation, Bruno is still firing on all cylinders. Scary not to own but, his minutes might be managed.

    Lil' Mo (Salah - £12.8m)
One of the best captaincy options this week. Liverpool playing to save their torrid season. Salah wanting his golden boot. Did I mention they play Burnley?

    Closing comments:
Raphinha and Salah look like the best cheap and expensive picks. I'd be weary of both Manchester club's FPL picks due to them already holding in the league and an eye on Europe. Try to focus on teams with something to play for.

For more content from me you can find me on Twitter (https://twitter.com/SpearmintSpaff) and Twitch (twitch.tv/spearmintspaff). I tend to do a pre gameweek FPL Live! stream the night before each deadline.

Good luck in your gameweeks. May the FPL captaincy gods be forever in your favour.

I have Raph and Lil' Mo but honestly I think you are talking me out of Greeny and into Mount for Jota replacement. Both will deliver but Mount maybe more assured minutes going forward I would think based on closing comments..
