Scout Network

The best FPL players the Scout Network are considering for Gameweek 38

The final Gameweek of the season is finally upon us.

It is make or break for those mini-league positions and for securing final positions in overall rank.

We asked the Scout Network for their views on the best defender, midfielder and forward for Gameweek 38.

Defenders

Leeds defence in danger of achieving FPL 'whipping boy' status once more

Ezgjan Alioski (£4.3m) has gone a little under the radar with teammate Stuart Dallas (£5.4m) taking all of the limelight. The Leeds defender has got two goals and three assists so far this season and will be on all out attack against West Brom in the final Gameweek of the season.

FPL Nymfria

The last Gameweek of the season is typically high-scoring so we would go for a defender with high attacking-return probability.  Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.7m) has been very impressive since the March international break, he has blanked only once in his last eight games, registering a goal and five assists in that period. Liverpool need to win and win big to hold onto their top-four place and Alexander-Arnold will play a large part in that.

FF Titans
Should Liverpool defenders be back on FPL radars and is Jota a trustworthy asset?

Bendito Fantasy

Dallas is the he highest scoring defender in the game and signs off with a match against West Brom at home. With the Baggies already relegated, I cannot see them putting up much of a fight as they come to an Elland Road hosting fans for a Premier League for the first time in 16 years.

El Statto

Midfielders

Joe Willock (£4.7m) has scored six goals in as many matches and currently ranks third in the Premier League for minutes per expected goal involvement (xGI) over the same period. He faces a relegated Fulham side in Gameweek 37.

FPL Nymfria

With the race for the top four likely to go to the final game and Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) going for the Golden Boot, that’s enough of a reason for me to back him against Crystal Palace. The fans at Anfield on the final day could be the perfect boost for Salah to finish the season with a flourish.

El Statto
Bale's superb home form against also-rans bodes well for Gameweeks 36 and 37 2

Gameweek 38 will be the last match of Gareth Bale‘s (£9.2m) loan move at Spurs, so he will no doubt want to end it on a high. Bale’s form has been picking up over the past weeks and on a personal note, he is building up his fitness level for Euro 2020.

FF Titans

Bendito Fantasy

Forwards

Wouldn’t it be great to plump for Sergio Aguero (£10.3m) for nostalgia’s sake, but who knows how much game time he gets. So that aside, it’s hard to look past Harry Kane (£11.8m), as he tries to sign off the season with the Golden Boot, especially given his goal-scoring record against Leicester City.

FPL Nymfria

Christian Benteke (£5.5m) is owned by just 1.5% of the game and can could be a great differential on the final day of the season. The Palace forward is currently on form, scoring in each of his last four games and preparing for Euro 2020 with Belgium. Benteke also has a good record against Liverpool, scoring seven career goals against the Reds, making them his (joint) favourite opponent. Meanwhile, no Premier League player has registered more shots on target over the last six matches, a period in which Liverpool have given up more big chances than any other side.

FF Titans
Fit-again Antonio bursts back onto the FPL scene in time for season run-in

    Repost from previous post:

Have both Kane and Son, and looking to do Son -> Mane(also have Salah). Will have triple Liverpool and only Kane from Spurs. Sounds right, given the final fixtures?

Good point, and likely Son will do well, but feel Mane will outscore him on the final day.

You really think Mane will outscore Son? His finishing has been shocking and something is definitely off with him. He is a top professional generally and thus really surprised by the downturn in his form as a Liverpool fan.

Looks pretty good. Like the Salah-Mane double up, like the forward line, and the NEW and BUR differential picks in the back. United v. Wolves could certainly return some points. I just worry over who will be rested for the EL final next week, which might scare me off of Rashford. Would you consider swapping Tarkowski for a cheaper Burnley defender like Taylor, and/or Cresswell to Coufal to free up funds for someone like Trent instead of Phillips? With Liverpool at home with fans and so much to play for, I’d rather have all 3 of my LFC options in my eleven than leaving one on the bench, and TAA could get you a double-figure return. I like Raphinha at home in front of a crowd v. WBA, too. Don’t know if he fits into your plans or not. Good luck!

    Best option:

    a) DCL (v City)

Have Forster and Meslier as my 2 GKs. Should I use FT for that?

    Other options:

    2) Coleman -> Coufal / Rudiger

I'm in same position - thinking about using one of 2FT on it - losing Meslier does mean I can bring in Bamford up top (due to max 3 Leeds), but think it depends on security of Bruno starting as want to lose DCL regardless.

I agree. Leicester will have to score 4 more than Liverpool if both win, so they surely gotta go big against Spurs? Would fancy it being a high scoring game so despite Son looking well off the pace, it won't necessarily pay off a -4.

Plus I think most are considering Mane solely because he's just about the only premium midfielder they can ship Son or Bruno to. Shown the same total lack of form as Son for me.

Currently 2nd in my ML, 70 points ahead of 3rd and 40 behind 1st - need to take a huge gamble for that top spot.

Thinking of the following moves for a -12:

Bruno, Greenwood, Lingard, Son, Iheanacho > Mané, Mount, Torres, Pepe, Bamford

1st in ML has almost all of the first five (except Greenwood) and none of the second five players.

    What do you guys think?

True, problem is that our teams are identical in 9 (!) positions. No way am I going to make up 40 points with just 2 players (Mendy and Greenwood) or 4 players if I count my 2 FT.

You will also be best to captain someone they do not have, regardless of logic. Maybe torres and vc mane. Very difficult to make up such a big gap so best go mental and cross your fingers

Choose TWO moves to make with 2 FT, 0.3 ITB:

    A. Keane -> Dallas (bench Dunk)
    B. Bruno -> Torres/any mid up to 10.8
    C. DCL -> Bamford
    D. All three for -4

    Current team:

    Salah Bruno Bale Son Greenwood
    DCL Antonio

First I thought they will rotate before the CL final. But then I saw that they need to win in their last game to be in top4.

Yeah, they need to win and it's a full week until the final.

Mendy 90% to start, Rudiger 70% to start IMO. It's a must-win game for them so they'll want their best XI

    Forster, Sanchez
    TAA, Shaw, Dallas, Coufal, Holding
    Salah, Bruno, Mahrez, Lingard, Raphinha
    Kane, Iheanacho, Vydra

Who to bring in to this team for gw38?
    1) Son
    2) Bale
    3) Willock
    4) Bamford
    5) Other? Is a hit worth it?

Bruno to Mane possible? I like 4 but assume you don't have the cash for Vydra -> Bamford.

Shucks. Removed Mane from the equation because I'm just not convinced... Still, Bruno > Mane would be the move there. And regarding Bamford, you're spot on. Hence the 5th option. 😉

Usually a hit is only worth it if your current team is bad, and it's not bad, so I'd probably just choose the best midfield option and bring him in in a 3-5-2. Really not much of a fan of the Spurs options.

Bruno -> Willock sounds really wrong, but it's been a weird season -- could be right.

fwiw - Thinking the transfer is either Bruno or Mahrez. Mahrez > Willock may be more palatable.

Didn't Willock pick up a knock according to Bruce?

    Meslier / Forster
    TAA / Coufal / Coleman / Holding / Philips
    Salah / Bruno / Son / Greenwood / Lingard
    Kane / Wood /  Iheanacho

Ditch Meslier? Or take the punt on Forster and transfer in someone who might haul?

Think Forster has a chance to play so take a punt on someone else.

For whatever it's worth, I have Forster and will start him.

What's the FH template for this week?

Interesting you ask, I'm on FH currently and have various drafts with a range of decent options, not sure there is a template forming just yet. Plans will inevitably shift anyway once the news from press conferences starts coming through. May even get early team news in some instances which will be handy.

2 FTs, mates... any bright ideas?

    * For context need differentials. Im even considering Bamford or Antonio as Captain

    Mendy
    Philips, Rudiger, Dallas, Holding
    Salah, Son, Jota*,
    Kane, Antonio, Bamford

    Pickford, Greenwood, Siggy, Keane

Harrison for Jota and Torres for Siggy. Drop Holding to the bench.

I'd really appreciate some help I've got 3.8ITB and 1FT

    Pickford
    Dallas TAA Shaw (Mitchell Diop)
    Salah Lingard Fernandes Raphinha (4.1)
    Kane Nacho DCL

You might only have two decent defenders so I'd do Shaw to Robertson.

        Or Bruno to Mane.

Move 1 or 2 of the Man U players - they won't play 3 days before the Euro-final, or if they do it will be a tiny amount.

      Shaw > Robbo
      Bruno > Mane
      Bruno > Aubameyang

What do you think about Werner for a cheeky final week punt? I started the season with him (mistakenly), so should I give him the chance to redeem himself?
