For players using both chips in the group stage, what is your expectation for the number of players you'll field for quarters and semi finals?

Using Euro 2016 for reference, I'd be expect to select 10/15 players to qualify to quarters. Then with transfers it would be up to 13. Is this good enough?

Maybe some people on here played the fantasy game in 2016 - looking at the way it panned out I think England and Belgium shock losses would have seriously hurt!

I think going from Ro16 > Quarters is tough without a WC if there are any upsets whatsoever.

In the past events you had no limitless Quarter was not a problem for me but still people were worried and would do a team for first three matchdays. From Quarter on you can play with 14 players and one 4m mid.

If any of the captains haul early, what is the approximate captain return in your opinion that would make you stay with this player for the rest of MD? example, Berardi has 1G 1A right of the bat, would you keep the c on him? Even with Ronaldo vs Hungary

    1. Dr. Rog
      • 14 Years

2 attacking returns is a keep at any point i reckon. what more are you hoping for - a hat trick?

      1. Silecro

2 attacking returns can be also 2 assists, that is not an impossible return to overcome for other captains

          think of it like Blackjack.

          Cut off for automatic Stick.
And also dependency on whether the dealer has a faceup card (can be thought of as the remainder of your captain chain).

Similar here. 1G1A is a no brainer to stay, but something like 2 assists (without cs point for mids) is a bit of finger-itchyng territory

Solid plan. I just simply know that i'll settle for Depay's goal and assist and Ronaldo will abolish Hungary with an hattrick and bring me a brand new feeling of fantasy pain that FPL does not offer 😀

You only lose the difference between captains. So you'd be down 5 points. It ain't that bad.

    5. Jambot
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

      I'll stick on

      Beradi - 12 points
      Kaku - 9 points
      Kane - 9 points
      Forres - 8 points
      CR7 - Have to stick

There is a lot of good chances for me after Beradi so it's very unlikely I'll stick and I'm not expecting him to brace. I find it hard to believe Ronaldo wont get any kind of return so i'm happy to keep rolling anything below 8 points. Got to back yourself in these games and I think Ronaldo will do well.

It's a short tournament with relatively few decision points. The people who do well are aggressive and brave (or foolhardy and lucky). Those same people would get unstuck with 38 weeks' worth of FPL but do fine in this competition. So I think you have to go for it to an extent (two attacking returns would be fine).

Bear in mind you can chuck away decent points quite spectacularly. I traded a Giroud goal last time for (ultimately) a Dragovic red card in group stage round one.

    Racism in FPL

Should FPL enforce rules that forces managers to pick black players and have a racially diverse squad?

New research questions if managers are refusing to pick black players on grounds of racism.

For me a 'woke' person is someone who posts a Black Lives Matter slogan on their Facebook page and believes the world will change because of their 'activism'. Just say tolerant and we'll be grand. Sacking the racist and any other way discriminatory coaches is a good starting point and if there is discrimination then maybe bring in quotas. Was done in South African rugby

Oh, you think the results are woke nonsense? I thought your issue would be the proposal for a quota system in FPL.

I mean, assuming the method is felicitous, the results somewhat speak for themselves. People are racist. But that's not news to you... is it? (I would argue that the method is *not* felicitous btw). Maybe you didn't read the article...?

Maybe FPL have been overpricing black players!

I think people should be free to have a whites and latinos only fantasy team. Whether it points to internalised racism or not, it's fantasy. Nobody's policing our thoughts on orcs and elves, thank god.

(Coming from someone who is about 70% on the woke-meter)

This is potentially very interesting and insightful stuff, but jumping to apply the results of this very low-level mini-study immediately with "shall we ban teams based on low levels of diversity then?" is the kind of ridiculous reactionary "extreme leftism" that divides the perceived left and right even more.

    7. Sanchit
      • 8 Years

Don't you induce racism doing this?
Currently - you are picking the players based on merit, not race. Every player is treated equal irrespective of race.

If this happens - you are kinda differentiating between races. Imagine people here asking - which white person should I bring in Kane? Which black to replace Kante with.

Who to go for as the last defender?

    Current backline:
    Schmeichel - Bachmann
    Spinazzola - Mæhle - Denayer - Wijndal

    Options:

I've been playing euros and world Cup fantasy for years to remember since it came. Always come top 3 in private leagues. My strategy has been go all attack in groups.

The chips strategy posted here is viable and I've always done similar.

Md2/3 LL and WC are great shouts. Which order does depends who's fighting to go through on md3.

I've always used this setup and wc early for maximum points before. Knockouts.

When Rd16 you get unlimted pick your teams to go through more likely. Then use the tranfers to hand to maximise other players and coverage. This is always enough. Never understood WC After the Qf.

I used the above last Euro and won. Had maximum players form Portugal fine with 4 defenders and won the thing. My opposition went all most France in comparison.

Last 16 could be harder to predict with a lot of teams at home, 3rd places qualifying. Not saying your wrong but it's not a standard tournament

I get the home stadiums however, being realistic we always go for the stronger teams which is most case scenario.

What's everyone's thoughts on this team?

Plan is to maximize points in GW1 then use LL GW2 and wildcard GW3
Numbers are who I intend on captaining each day.

    Ronaldo (4) Lukaku(1) Depay (2)
    Eriksen Jota F.Torres (3)
    Cancelo Maehle Denayer Wijndal
    Schmeichel

    Baachman P.Torres Nego Sudakov

Just thinking about chip strategy here. Anyone else thinking it makes sense to use both in the group stage?

From the R16 games there will surely be some uneven matchups where you'll be able to load up on players from the favourite sides. You'd have to be very unlucky not to be able to field a full or almost full squad for QFs even with just 3 free transfers.

    Am I missing something?

the tradeoff is upside vs security. WCQF is over cautious though as I am convinced that the ultimate winner is the one who takes the upside in the groups and gets the RD16 qualification calls right.

I have Bonucci in my team so far, I’m tempted to get Donnarumma in as keeper too instead of Courtois or should I just stick with him so I have a selection of teams rather than putting all my chances on Italy?

How many CS's do you see either keeping? think they'll get around the same, but I think maybe Donna being cheaper makes him more slightly more attractive even with the double up

Mount, Malinovskyi. Assuming this is a LL MD3 team.
