The fact that they brought him out the stadium slowly says it all.

It doesn't look good, but that isn't a sign he has died necessarily. I thought I could see breathing apparatus on him as they left, and the players' faces seemed shocked and stressed but not sombre like he had died. I really hope he is ok.

I have done CPR thousand times, very very unlikely he makes it, i am just in shock, i hope it is a dream.

Understood, but take a look at the way teammates were reacting. It doesn't make sense that they were not showing different facial expressions. The manager too, when he walked away, didn't seem to react in a way that confirmed he had passed away. Maybe they are just in total shock, but you'd think some of them would have reacted with tears if this had been the case.

Pardon my ignorance but is a defib machine only useful in certain situations?

    1. Deulofail
      • 8 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

Yes. I believe it regulates/corrects the heart beat, but doesn't start it. You can heave one in a pacemaker-type thing, for example, to correct arrythmia.

      1. Deulofail

No, I'm wrong, they can also restore a heart beat after it's stopped. So I'm ignorantabout that too..

I hope this serves as a reminder to everyone to learn how the defib machines at their workplace functions. It can happen to anyone.

Yep. I did a first aid course not long ago and they are surprisingly easy to use. When you put them on the machine itself tells you if it is needed and when to press the button. You can’t go wrong with it so if it’s ever needed do it.

Any situation in which the heart stops 🙁 But very often it gets it going again. We can only hope.

Yep, restart the heart. They are in most major shop doorways in high streets to be accessible to public in such circumstances.

"Defibrillators are devices that restore a normal heartbeat by sending an electric pulse or shock to the heart. They are used to prevent or correct an arrhythmia, a heartbeat that is uneven or that is too slow or too fast. Defibrillators can also restore the heart's beating if the heart suddenly stops"

A defib shocks the heart and stops it. So if it’s beating erratically in a cardiac arrest, you can use a defib. Otherwise, just chest compressions and meds. Hope he pulls through!

I should add, if the heart is beating erratically during an arrest, you shock and hope it returns to normal

The only thing different here is there didn’t seem to be the heart surgeon in the crowd. He was the man who really worked the miracle that day. Fingers crossed those paramedics have the same skills.
