If anybody is thinking about moaning that they switched captaincy to Eriksen over Lukaku etc.

    Don't. Just don't.

You'd hope common sense prevails and they rearrange it. Even if he's stabilised the players aren't in a position to play football after that ffs

I would hope they pick up the match where they left off, ONLY after all the qualifying matches have been played and if it is necessary to play it to decide who advances.

So glad that Christian is now stable in hospital, swiftest of swift recoveries to the Danish Prince.

However, the footage that was shown was shocking. If a streaker is on the pitch everything is cut immediately. An incidence like this occurs and camera's are locked on his position even when it's obvious his teammates are trying to block as something very serious occurs. They then cut to his wife/girlfriend... Awful!

Yep, couldn't believe it. Especially showing CPR. Every time I've seen something sports related and something bad happens they always cut away. When Grosjeans crash happened last season they didn't show anything until he was confirmed okay. People are getting in trouble for this

I think you've got to cut people a little bit of slack for going through a horrific situation. I personally find it a little distasteful that people are trying to make a villain out of this situation. I sympathise to anyone who had to work through that in any capacity, and I doubt for the life of me there was anyone doing anything other than their best given the circumstances.

I like your sentiment, but there is a director for live TV who simply chose to show the things they showed. It's not a chaotic scene where interns are tripping over wires, struggling to get the images cleared - it's their profession. As Rainer said, it's standard to cut away there is a streaker.

Ultimately, it's the broadcaster's responsibility, even if they are getting the images from somewhere else. I'm okay with people being suspicious of big corporations with questionable motives and incentives. These are established sports broadcasters who clearly have the power to do things right, so there's nothing wrong with holding them to a standard. You might argue it's our moral duty, even.

That said, I'm not personally even necessarily against broadcasting these images, except for the reason that children may be watching. I think consent to being filmed is given by all those in attendance at a filmed event, and it's actually very sobering to watch, putting things into perspective. I think people are more likely to be loving after seeing it than more anti-social, for instance. Perhaps more likely to make positive changes in they day, week or life. The awkward part is the intimacy of someone's unexpected private moments of vulnerability matched with the purpose of enternanment and holding viewership for financial reasons. I could be convinced otherwise though, potentially.

I'm aware that no one asked for this essay! But it's done now. Everyone, be excellent to each other.

Right at the start I thought he was badly injured but had not twigged he was having a cardiac arrest. Many in the production team may have been unaware too. After a while when it had sunk it, they did not keep zooming in. I think they felt a duty to those watching to not just cut and leave them not knowing what was happening. Everyone was concerned and scared for his life. It wasn't paparazzi-style IMO.

Danish TV cut all pictures and zoomed out of the stadium after he dropped down and we saw his eyes.

Any TV station showing Eriksen, his family, medics and players around him for more than 15 secondsis a damn disgrace to human kind.

Probably lose a wad of cash on TV and other revenue if they tried rearranging for another day. If game rearranged until later, last game in group, it's possible but improbable that a draw could suit both to get to last 16.

We tend to focus on the controversies, scandals and indiscipline because its more entertaining.

But there's so much to learn about discipline amd protocol of the game from what happened today.

      1. The referee.
      2. The medical workers.
      3. The Danish team giving privacy by standing around him.
      4. The Finnish team giving him privacy by leaving the pitch.
      5. The manager who must have been in agony waited till he was allowed to go see his player.
      6. The fans for their silence and then their chants.

We take these things for granted.

Its a one in a million scenario. No one would have prepared the players and referees for this.
But they acted admirably eventhough no one would have blamed the manager for running onto the field or a Finnish player hanging about showing concern.
