Belgium lead Russia after Finland beat Denmark

Belgium are leading Russia in their opening EURO 2020 match thanks to the most-popular Fantasy asset Romelu Lukaku (€11.0m).

The Inter Milan forward converted a Dries Mertens (€9.0m) in the 10th minute and dedicated his strike to club team-mate Christian Eriksen, who was hospitalised during Denmark’s meeting with Finland.

The former Spurs man collapsed during the first half and received CPR from medics before being transferred to hospital where he managed to be stabilised, subject to further examinations.

After just under an hour, the contest was resumed, in which Joel Pohjanpalo (€6.0m) scored the only goal of the game and 34%-owned goalkeeper Lukas Hrádecky (€4.0m) saved a Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (€5.5m) penalty.

Meanwhile, popular Fantasy defender Jason Denayer (€4.5m), owned by 22%, missed out on the starting line-up for Belgium, who deployed Derdryck Boyata (€4.5m) in the back-three with Jan Vertonghen (€5.5m) and Toby Alderweireld (€5.5m).

Eden Hazard (€10.0m) and Kevin De Bruyne (€10.5m) are not involved due to injury.

Belgium XI: Courtois; Vertonghen, Boyata, Alderweireld; Castagne, Tielemans, Dendoncker, T Hazard; Mertens, Carrasco; Lukaku.

Russia XI: Shunin; Zhirkov, Dzhikiya, Semenov, Fernandes; Ozdoev, Barinov; Golovin, Kuzyaev, Zobnin; Dzyuba.

Forget nationalism. Want Denmark to win the tournemant. Finland to qualify too. So classy from both of them. That lovely circle they made. Protecting their brother from the evil media eye

That was a sign of strength and unity for sure. Players from both teams were balling their eyes out

Firstly, I just want to say thanks to Admin who responded so quickly to the insensitive comments made earlier by a regular poster. I'm pretty sure you hadn't planned for the event that played out earlier, so well done.

However, I work as a moderator on another forum. In very rare situations where somebody seriously over steps the mark we ban them but leave their posts (and subsequent replies) intact for 24hrs. They also get slapped with a visible banned notice on their posts for everyone to see. It then stops all the "Why is XYZ banned? What did s/he say?"

Humiliation by your peers is a far greater punishment than a simple ban.

    Food for thought.

I'm assuming you mean you leave some insensitive posts visible, not all of them?

Absolutely not! In real life we are all responsible for our actions and subject to the rule of law.

On the Internet, keyboard warriors feel they can post whatever they want and there are no checks and balances. That's totally wrong. In our forum we have checks and balances.

When the poster wakes up in the morning and logs in it's still there in all its 'glory'.

The ban is effective but the humiliation reading what they posted and the reaction from their peers has a much greater effect.

I can totally understand deleting the posts because it just flares up an argument & the encourages people seeing/reading that to chip in a get angry back.

You shouldn't need to show people how posting something like that is hugely insensitive and inappropriate. Only a moron posts something like that.

Perma-ban will do and we can forget about them, and the site will be all the for the lack of them.

      All IMO at least.

In fairness I remember you winding up a lot of people on purpose on a few occasions.

But you're really not that bad or at least dialled it down - so apologies anyway.

I'm not perfect either (at all lol). But I did raise that particular user violating a lot of the site rules/guidelines before, so not like you couldn't see this sort of thing coming!

Transparency is better than censorship. Allow diverse thought and behaviour, but criticise/ridicule bad ideas, attitudes and practices. Hiding them creates blind spots - more opportunities for ignorance and bad ideas, attitudes and practices. As well as confusion and lack of a sense of justice. In general, these are my thoughts! 😀

First class modding to remove the minority idiot posts, agreed.

Sometimes these idiots do it FOR the reaction so disagree with your second point. You can’t shame the shameless.

Something else to remember is that many poor choices are made during periods of heightened emotions. Just because we cannot see someone doesn't we should forget everyones humanity.

The time for reflection is after the event, not during it.

Christian Eriksen had a Facetime call with his teammates from the hospital and asked them to play the game tonight, as “he feels better now”,

So I’m asking around here yesterday about whether or not Denayer is nailed, and everyone is like “absolutely, no doubt”.

But I had doubts, I for one voiced my concern that he’d be benched for Vermalaen.

Turns out all of us were wrong. What do we know? 😆

I was snared too. That's why you shouldn't sub on your bench player until late as possible on the day he plays. You might get team news confirming he starts or not and if not may stick with your two pointer that you couldn't wait to sub out.
