The best Matchday 3 EURO Fantasy captains to consider switching to on Monday

Kevin De Bruyne (€10.5m) is among the captaincy candidates for any EURO Fantasy managers wanting to twist on the second day of Matchday 3 action.

The Manchester City man is expected to be involved for Belgium as they face Finland in their final Group B match having turned the 2-1 win over Denmark on its head.

De Bruyne came on to score and assist in the second half, transforming a previously drab Red Devils’ display.

Despite the Netherlands winning their opening two games, Memphis Depay (€10.0m) stars against North Macedonia, who have conceded five goals across their first two matches.

The recently-confirmed Barcelona new signing netted from the penalty spot against Austria and probably considers himself unfortunate not to have delivered more returns across the first two Matchdays.

Meanwhile, those looking for a differential skipper could do worse than turn to Ukraine’s attack as they require a positive result from this afternoon’s meeting with Austria.

Andriy Yarmolenko (€8.5m) was brilliant against North Macedonia, picking up a goal and an assist and would’ve taken the penalty if he’d still been on the pitch. In front of Yarmolenko, Roman Yaremchuk (€7.1m) has scored in both games so far and is another strong option in a game that Ukraine should win comfortably. 

Not only has Yarmolenko man produced 18 points across his first two matches, his underlying numbers are also good. During that time, he ranks best among all players at EURO 2020 for shots in the six-yard box and is behind only Patrik Schick (€8.2m) for efforts on target.

Thankfully for most EURO Fantasy managers the bar has not been set particularly high by Sunday’s captaincy options.

Gareth Bale (€9.6m) blanked as Wales slipped to a 1-0 defeat against a heavily-rotated Italy while Xherdan Shaqiri (€7.2m), owned by 4%, and the 0%-owned Steven Zuber (€6.9m) were the only real explosive stars of Switzerland’s 3-1 win over Turkey.

        One of KDB, Yarmolenko, or Dumfries.

        Reasons to prune others:
        Hazard looked good; doesn't have the same qualities or chances as KDB.
        Meunier could get a clean sheet and perhaps a goal, but KDB has a higher chance of outscoring him.
        Malen is a punt: looked decent in limited minutes.
        Mahle can get a clean sheet but is more limited than Dumfries.

        KDB will start and plays at least a half, probably a bit longer due to his need to find form. Belgium looked like a different team when he came into the game. Great assist and goal threat. Even if Finland keeps things tight for a while, KDB is likely to keep playing until Belgium are safely ahead. His game looks like either a blowout or a tight affair, and even in the latter I think he gains points. Not sure if the same can be said of Yarmolenko, which is which is why I stick with KDB.

        Yarmolenko has had a strong tournament--he's also on set pieces and penalties. Only reason why I rate KDB higher is because of inferior competition and higher probability that KDB will do something dangerous to gain points, even in limited time.

        Dumfries is a smart punt. He'll get in dangerous areas and is playing the worst team at EURO 2020/21, a team already disqualified from the second round. There's a doubt Dumfries plays the 60 minutes for a clean sheet (assuming a Dutch defense that has already let in two goals stays resolute and doesn't concede). Plus, Dumfries had a rough challenge at the end of the last game; I'm a bit surprised he's playing today.

        36 games and 4 assists last season isn't amazing output wise but atleast he didn't get injured. If there isn't a Dallas, Lundstram type Femenia could be useful for the easier fixtures.

    Am I the only person who thinks YARM is the best Captain option around here? Great under lying stats, on Pens, needs a positive result and on fire plus v Austria. That’ll do for me..

    FDB just said that he plans to change the formation to a 433 during the game using 1 sub. Does this make Depay and Dumfries worse options for captaincy? Depay will likely play on the left of the front 3 with Malen down the middle and Dumfries may not get forward as much in a back 4...

          It would probably be quite dynamic. PSV’s system is quite complex, they play two strikers that both go wide and stretch the defence so it isn’t as simple as saying he is definitely a striker when in that team

      I’m in the same boat, bookies pay 1.40 for over 2.5 in the Dutch game and 1.90 in the Belgian one, think I’m going Malen as crazy as it seems - KDB is of the best players in the world pretty much confirmed to start against Finland!

    Annoying that every news outlet is saying Macedonia are already eliminated and the only team out so far; as if a mathematical certainty. It's not true!

    Is very unlikely of course, mainly as other game will be a draw, but doesn't even require a 14-0 victory or anything.

    For instance they win 2-0 today and there is a 2-0 result in the other game. Macedonia finish on third, on -1 one goal difference, the losing team in the other game have -2 GD.

    Then still requires a strange set of results, but could plausible be a best 3rd place side. If they where to win 3-0, a better chance.

    It is hardly right to say: "They are already eliminated".
