£20k in prizes in Ultimate Fan’s free-to-enter EURO 2020 quarter-final

Sponsored by Ultimate Fan

Fancy adding some extra Fantasy thrills to the EURO 2020 knock-outs? New kids on the block Ultimate Fan are offering £20,000 in prizes with their free-to-enter EURO 2020 quarter-final game.

If you haven’t come across the game before, all you need to know is that Ultimate Fan combines Fantasy Football with the thrill of pack opening and this latest competition is FREE to enter.

Simply sign up today and you can claim a FREE pack with six cards to build your team.

How does Ultimate Fan work?

Ultimate Fan managers build their five-a-side teams using packs, scoring points for their players’ real-life performances and winning cash prizes.

The scoring system is a little different to Fantasy Premier League with points on offer not just for players but for teams.

Individual players will score 10 points for goal, regardless of their positional classification, four points for an assist and two points for shots on target.

As you can see from the scoring system above, only defenders can keep clean sheets, which they score three points for, while winning a tackle earns one point.

Ultimate Fan packs also come with team cards, allowing managers to go into the next round backing teams as well as players.

If the team you have backed wins their tie, you gain five points as well as one for every goal they score.

Managers can also apply mods to their teams. The Golden Boot doubles the points of your chosen player if they score a goal while the Captain scores double regardless of whether or not they find the net.

How do I build my team?

Once you have signed up and claimed your FREE starter pack, drag and drop your players into your team’s slots.

You have slots to field two defenders, two midfielders and one forward as well as choosing one team to back in the next round of action.

To build your squad, either subscribe Ultimate Fan+ Gold or Ultimate Fan+ Silver for more packs. Check out the details below to understand the differences between the two tiers of membership.

What are the prizes?

The next Ultimate Fan round is the quarter-finals of EURO 2020, which star on Friday, July 2.

The winner of this stage will receive £5,000, second place get £2,500 and everyone placed between ninth and one-hundredth receives £100.

Our quarter-final team

With Belgium one of the favourites for EURO 2020, having them in place for the rest of the tournament is a welcome boost for my team. The win over Portugal secured me 9 points in the Last 16.

However, this does mean that Leonardo Bonucci isn’t really an ideal player to have, but at least I’m covered one way or the other depending on the result.

Pau Torres on the other side feels like he may have more potential, if he can actually start a game that is. His two assists in the last two games is encouraging at least.

In attack, the Hazard brothers pins my hopes on a convincing Belgium win. Younger sibling Thorgan is outscoring his brother so far in the tournament, but Eden did at least show some encouraging signs in the last game.

With only one forward in my squad, I’ll have to pin some hopes on a high scoring game for the Ukraine against England.

depends on how Atimis did on price rises. People will have different budgets at this point.

You don't lose value like in fpl - anyone that goes up you get all of it back if you sell them.
(My budget is 108.0 for example - so I've made 3.0 on price rises).

    Hey fam

    1. Is it worth taking a hit if my 11th player is KDB?

    2. If yes, then is it better to take a hit on attacker rather than a defender?

    1. RogDog_jimmy
      • 3 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

I think yes - even if KDB plays then you have a bench person from day 2 to replace an inevitable blank from game 1.

I think taking an attacker from Spain or Switzerland is a good idea; or a defender from England.
Also I have a feeling that Czechs will win to nil - so I would go either Shick or Coufal.

I'm not in need of a defender - my random player is likely to be Shick or Seferovic.

Thanks for your input mate! Cheers!

I'm surely bringing in Morata & Sterling.

Who should be my other 2 transfers out of Sefarovic, Maguire & Ferran?

        1. RogDog_jimmy
          • 3 Years
          2 years, 9 months ago

I guess Sefarovic and Ferran is a good combo to have cover for the SF. I can see multiple goals in that game.

I already have Maguire and am happy I do - I think he's a good option.

          Think all three are reasonable.

Woooow! I'm surprised that Dortmund sold Sancho for only £73m. He has to be worth much more in current market for sure, don't you think?
What a steal and daylight robbery. Amazing deal for United and also extremely exciting brand new FPL option.

Plus addons which can make a big difference. Hazard to Madrid reportedly was for a fee of £88m but with addons that could added another £42m. Liverpool also received over £35m in addons from Coutinho

Like the player and hope he fits in well. Manu is a big ask for any player, especially to be proven to epl. I wish him the best, but these are big boots to fill in a big side.

Personally won't be getting him as I reckon he'll be a drip-feed to the team. If he plays 90' first game, then I'm interested.

There are bargains in every position this year already. A lot more will appear that we didn’t expect also. I am going with a strong defence, I get sickened into it every year somehow.

Sancho in. Now Man Utd need to sign Declan Rice and Ben Godfrey. Could form the backbone of England's team:

    Henderson
    AWB Godfrey Maguire Shaw
    Rice McTominay
    Sancho Fernandes Rashford
    Greenwood

9 of the 11 could be England starters.

    Simon
    Spinazzola, Maehle
    (De Bruyne), Berardi, Damsgaard

    A. (-8) Kane, Morata, Sterling, Sarabia, Stones

0.1 short of doing A with Shaw.

    1. RogDog_jimmy

Maguire is better than Stones for me.
I'd be tempted by Ferran over Sarabia - depends on line ups which we'll know.

I think the -8 is worth it for you. Especially is KDB misses and Berardi ends up playing less than 90 (either as a sub or coming off for Chiesa early).

      1. amplifiedAnt
        • 9 Years
        2 years, 9 months ago

D'ya reckon on Maguire? I know he carries goal threat, but Stones has had a couple of good chances.

A is very tight on budget (0.3 ITB) - so it's got to be Sarabia or Olmo, pending starting lineup. B has 1.7 ITB.

I like the -8 lineup better (who wouldn't!) but am just wondering whether it pays off that extra -4. Guess if England go through it should.

And if they don't, I'll have lost my league and chances of top 10k anyway!

        1. RogDog_jimmy
          • 3 Years
          2 years, 9 months ago

Maguire is 0.2 cheaper which helps. He was the one with 2 header chances against Germany - and I like that he tends to break the lines and drive forward more than Stones - it's a tiny chance but maybe he gets a through ball or a long diagonal to a forward - Stones won't do that.

Agree on the gamble - you go t to pick who you think will win and get it right - or you don't and lose. Can't win by hedging too much I don't think.

(Plus it's more fun with more players).

Nice. The cash saving alone is a good point. Just because I don't need it this round...

The -8 puts me 19 points behind my rival, so do need to hope they go a bit different. Or that I better nail captain options!

    EURO Thoughts...

Remaining Forward selections are really tough -

The top 4 point scorers are

    Shick
    Lukaku
    Sefarovic
    Yaremchuk

4 strikers from the 4 teams expected to lose (by most it seems)

    Then for the favorites it's

    Immobile
    Morata
    Kane
    Dolberg/Poulsen/Braithwaite

Immobile looks the best of that lot so far, and whichever Dane plays has looked lively. Morata probably looks better than Kane due to chances he's gotten - Kane has look pretty unlikely to score a lot - even with his return last game.

Seems like most are choosing 3 from the second list and none from the top list - is that smart?

(I don't know - but I'm starting to lean toward Sefarovic & Shick to join Immobile who I already have)

Interesting - I'd be all over Lukaku if KDB & Hazard were playing - I think he awesome.

I wonder - has Italy's defense really been tested by anyone yet?
Turkey were garbage, Wales not great, Switzerland turns out are pretty good and they were held scoreless. None as good as Belgium though you'd think.

    2. amplifiedAnt
      • 9 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

I don't rate Morata all that highly (despite proposing getting him in!) but yeah, the chances keep coming for him.

The WC-ers have more room to go differential. If we see another round like the last that could be massive.

A growing worry (as somebody chasing) is that we're getting closer and closer to the point where everybody will have much the same squad.

Veltman plays on the other side right? or is he a threat to Lamptey's position?

Nvm they're both right backs, don't think either is nailed

Lamptey has the highest upside attacking wise, here's a few 4.5M options:
      Ayling (underperformed his attacking stats)
Femenía (got 4 assists last year for Watford, so he's a bit attacking but not amazing)
      Brentford might have some (https://www.reddit.com/r/FantasyPL/comments/oawbey/a_guide_to_brentford_assets/)

For the best attacking defenders you might need 0.5M for Tierney and Doherty/Reguilón

    Thoughts on this WC team?

    Simon, Pickford
    Alba, Spinazzola, Shaw, Maguire, Maehle
    Sterling, Torres, Sarabia, Yarmolenko, Damsgaard
    Kane, Morata, Schick

I would go with Shaqiri over Yarmo. Otherwise, looking good.

Thank you. I was considering this or Insigne also.

Another option is Meunier and Grealish instead of Maguire and Yarmo/Shaqiri/Insigne

On the previous article, “the best mid priced and premium fpl defenders” it says about Virgil Van Dijk: “The return of Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) will be a big factor in Liverpool’s potential defensive sturdiness, though with match fitness in question the Dutchman seems an easy avoid in FPL.”

I have had big Virg in most of my drafts thinking he would be fit for the beginning of the season. Has there been news saying he won’t be?

Of course he is physically fit. I think they are referring to match fitness…the guy hasn’t played a serious game in a long time. That’s where the little worry is.

The KDB injury is a big issue - I need 3 changes to get 11 players (this includes KDB and Berardi). I can

A get Kane Sterling Morata F Torrens in but means losing KDB and -4 getting team below

B Keep KDB and get Kane Morata Sarabia. No hit but risk 9 starters if no KDB or Berardi ( expect him to come on later in game)

    Leaves me

    Donna
    Alba Spinazzola Maehle
    Sterling F Torres Berardi Damsgaard
    Kane Immobile Morata

    No bench
