HOW DOES FANTASY5 WORK?

Fantasy Five Banner

Fantasy5 is easy to play as it follows the exact same scoring system as FPL, just without the bonus points.

It’s also the fastest media outlet for live Fantasy points, displaying all player points from the five games in question, as well as the live score and time.

For the more detailed lowdown, head here.

The competition is limited to one entry per person per round and selections must be submitted before kick-off of the first eligible match.

If two or more entrants correctly select five players who all score more than their points target, then the prize pot is split among all winners.

GAMEWEEK 2 FIXTURES

The five matches in this round of fixtures are:

  • Leeds United v Everton
  • Brighton and Hove Albion v Watford
  • Southampton v Manchester United
  • Wolverhampton Wanderers v Tottenham Hotspur
  • Chelsea v Arsenal

The deadline is at 15:00 GMT on Saturday, August 21.

SCOUT’S GAMEWEEK 2 PICKS

  1. Richarlison: A second-half switch to a central role against Southampton transformed Richarlison and Everton’s fortunes in Gameweek 1. Much has been made of Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s potential for prospering in a side that seems intent on crossing at will but the Brazilian is pretty handy in air, too. He’ll be up against a Leeds side that displayed a soft underbelly at Old Trafford, conceding more chances from central positions than any other side in the division.
  2. Ismaila Sarr: The Watford winger was among the top three midfielders for both chances created and penalty area touches in Gameweek 1, also having three shots of his own in the win over Aston Villa. Brighton aren’t quite at their watertight best just yet thanks to a pre-season filled with departures, injuries and illness, and the sight of Pascal Gross at left-back underscored that uncertainty at the back.
  3. Mason Greenwood: Classified as a midfielder in Fantasy5 this week, Greenwood needs a goal and assist to beat his points target in Gameweek 2. Southampton’s defence is the worst in the Premier League in 2021 and let’s not forget what happened the last time these two sides met in February…
  4. Lucas Moura: With Harry Kane’s match fitness seemingly still an issue, Spurs look set to line up with the same front three that prospered against Manchester City on Sunday. The Brazilian really impressed against the reigning champions, registering three goal attempts and as many key passes. A Wolves defence playing a high line looks an ideal match-up for the Lilywhites’ fast-breaking attacking trio.
  5. Romelu Lukaku: Backing the big Belgian to hit the ground running with two goals is a tall order but the new Chelsea number nine’s track record for early-season form is eye-catching. Arsenal’s rickety high defensive line – should they trial it again – looks ready-made for the former Inter Milan striker’s predatory instincts.

TED’S GAMEWEEK 2 PICKS

Pick the best Gameweek 2 players for a free chance to win £10k with Fantasy5

  1. Dominic Calvert-Lewin: Rafael Benitez’s intentions were made clear in GW1; get the ball to DCL! Everton are up against a Leeds side that were one of the worst teams for shots conceded last season and are licking their wounds after a five-goal thrashing from Man Utd.
  2. Jakub Moder: Third amongst midfielders for expected assists (xA) and eighth for expected goal involvement (xGI) in Gameweek 1, Moder definitely has some attacking threat. A first home game for Brighton this season against a newly promoted Watford side will surely yield a positive result.
  3. Jadon Sancho: Sancho has the lowest target out of the main Manchester United outfielders and faces a Saints side who desperately need reinforcements. This will most likely be Sancho’s first start for his new club and he will be keen to make an impression.
  4. Sergio Reguilon: Spurs kept a clean sheet in Gameweek 1 against arguably the most attacking side in the league and will look to replicate that feat against Wolves in Gameweek 2. Reguilon certainly has some assist potential, too.
  5. Kai Havertz: Havertz ended last season well for Chelsea and had a successful EURO 2020 campaign, picking up a few goals. He’ll be looking to continue this run of form against Arsenal in Gameweek 2 after his seven-minute Gameweek 1 cameo (due to a two-hour Super Cup run-around last Wednesday).

I'm not so much. Had a fantastic GW1 but no city mids and no TAA means a likely levelling up for my team this week

that's ok though, it's how it goes.

Good players score points, especially against weak teams. TAA will be the cash in weeks to come. Obviously if he flops against Norwich it will turn that into a firesale. He probably won't though

Burnley, sorry! It's an expectation that he should return though isn't it. Can't own all the best players, only the best combination. That's going to be something more of a theme this season than last

I don't know. Personally TAA who is just as likely to get 200+ points as anyone costing only £7.5m is a no brainer for me

I don't undestand the Ramsdale hate.

You don't have to rate him highly and nobody is saying he's gonna be world class GK, just give him a chance to prove himself.
He's decent for his age and has loads of potential. Goalkeepers aren't supposed to be world class when they turn 23. Feel free to prove me wrong if you can. The exception rather than the rule. Aaron has his strenghts and weaknesses like others. It's really not his fault that his past clubs got relegated. It's about a squad, not just a single player.

So what is it? Price? When you consider Sheffield United paid £18.5m for him, it makes sense they don't want to sell him for less. Homegrown quota and English tax does the rest, so don't act like you're surprised.

Is it because we're talking about Arsenal? I genuinely believe that there would be different reaction and perception of everything if he went to another big 6 club.

Could that money be used differently? Yeah sure, but Arsenal is in need of a goalkeeper who will stay here for a while. He might not be solution in the end but we'll see. You never know how things turn out. Other areas should be strenghtened weeks ago and there's still some time. GK case is solved now, right back is still open.

Ramsdale should be backed at least by Arsenal fan base but is already receiving abuse on social media. Wow, what a shock. Embarrassing behaviour before he even steps on the pitch. Really classy part of the fans, I couldn't be more proud of them. Jerks.

There's so much negativity on FFS as well and I'm not even sure why I'm wasting time here with any explanation. Nobody cares, I get it. It just irritates me how low has society fallen (ages ago). Perhaps a certain percentage of people actually feel good about writing trash comments and find them funny, I don't know. There's a thin line between banter and verbal abuse.

I only hope he proves everyone wrong, that's all.

      Could turn out okay.

£24m just seems way too much for a back up keeper.

Also surely this isn't the priority position that needs strengthening?

Would have been better stumping up the cash for Abraham and moving Laca and Auba on. It seems to me like their time is up.

Not like Leno is a great keeper either. Ramsdale has a good opportunity to show his potential. Too many comparing his ability to Henderson in Blades first season back in PL. The defensive setup was class then. Last seaon not so good and Ramsdale was decent.

He's 29 and a German international. He should be better. Ramsdale has more scope for improvement.

But why £24m on someone who needs to improve? There's probably 50 keepers of a similar age and level in Europe who could be picked up for less than £5m.

I think they hope he'll challenge for the jersey. Plus he was in the Euro squad, replaced Henderson very late, I think there's a premium for UK players and younger players have more sell-on value. Probably not many alternative 2nd keepers under 30.

Leno might be the keeper to have between 4gw & 20. Tierney could also be good, Arsenal don’t score enough, but to be fair they didn’t concede that many last year either under Arteta.

The abuse he's received is disgusting, no question and no excuse for it. I hope I'm wrong and he proves me wrong too. But he's an overrated keeper that has been relegated multiple times in a few years and has made numerous errors and rash decisions that have led to problems for his teams. Arsenal had a top quality keeper there that desperately wanted to play for them and that earned the chance and he was sold. This is the same club that gave Aubameyang and Ozil huge bumps in wages, and have done that for Xhaka now, and sacked their mascot that had been there for decades because they "couldn't afford" to keep him. The same club that spent £50m on a very young CB that has had one season in the top-flight and doesn't address any of their defensive issues, already has a keeper they spent a decent bit of money on and also a backup that they bought only recently too. So yes Arsenal are getting probably more stick than some other clubs might but there's good reasoning behind it.

What do you mean “another” big 6 club. Honestly, get real. Nobody thinks about Arsenal any more. I’ve even stopped laughing at them. Down the pub nobody mentions Arsenal, you’re just not talked about any more. If you like Ramsdale then good luck to you, I mean it.
But now fans of the game look to progressive clubs with a future ahead of them. Clubs like Leicester, Villa, West Ham. Even Brentford with the way that they’re run.

I hope he does too. Ramsdale is an average keeper, not particularly good, not particularly bad. He's 23. Time to grow. Doesn't need to come in as first choice this season. People forget Chelsea spent £72m on Kepa. Kepa!

So much rubbish being written at the minute - Arsenal are at a low point in their history and people are revelling in it. Just like when Liverpool were awful for the majority of the last 30 years and through United's poor spell too.

Still think we're nowhere near as bad as people are making out though!

Post shot xG prevented mainly. I don't pretend to have watched enough of him to be able to give a decent 'eye test' opinion - but from what I've seen he's a pretty good shot stopper.

I'm not saying he's a world beater by any means, but he's certainly a step up from your McCarthys/Guaitas of the world.

Think a lot of the Ramsdale hate comes from Arsenal decisions in general. They had a perfectly good goal keeper in Martínez but shipped him off to Villa, put trust in Leno who is average at best. I think Arsenal fans and football fans in general think they just haven't got a clue at this stage.

The sale of Willock and then playing Balogun is another example of them being clueless.

I mean, Arsenal is not well run as a club at all, but citing the sales of Willock and Martinez as examples of their cluelessness is really not the one.

I think he's a good keeper, showed enough at Bournemouth to be given his shot.

The issue is probably that people see Arsenal selling Martinez last summer, who was/is also a great keeper, and had probably done enough to earn the #1 jersey for last season once Leno was back from injury.

Its just been great management from the people who make the decisions.

Well the thing about it is that every one now have an opinion even when they might be quite clueless.
The vitriols towards the young man isn't quite surprising I'd say. Years of underachievement have so dulled the appreciation of most Arsenal fans they now depends on spoon-fed media narratives or approvals of rival fans to guide their opinion. Funny as the wailing and deflated psyche endures they're target of media looking for hits.
Ramsdale is fine. They stubbornness of both and SU restates the value each see is there.
Save your strength as you can never win arguments against ones who come from a place of thinking they know more than they think they know.

Ramsdale is an ideal signing for the path that Arsenal are following. It’s another consistent backwards step. It’s where they’ve been going for over a decade so let’s just allow them to rot from within and disappear as a club altogether. They’re another Nottingham Forrest.

United just played Leeds who go all out attack. That suits Utds counterattack perfectly. They have struggled against teams that defend. There is your reason.

In footballing terms, Southampton's high press could suit United, so I'm tempted to captain Bruno and I'm glad to have Greenwood. Also Burnley's low block might frustrate Salah.

But in less tangible terms, Anfield packed could get Liverpool going. After a slow start at Norwich, they looked decent. It's a tough call between them but I'm currently on Salah, just.

            For salah
            - first home game with packed Anfield
            - burnley atrocious defence
            - he’s Salah duh
            - burnley were horrid on the left of defence last game against Brighton, lots of cut backs happening on that side = more opportunities for Salah

            Against Salah
            - poor form against burnley (previously only 1 goal in 7 games or sth)

They’re both good picks, like the first week. It may not matter who you pick honestly. Salah feels slightly safer because more are picking him so if it goes wrong, possibly less of a rank fall.

I’m going Bruno, feels like an opportunity to break from the template. Think Burnley more likely to frustrate than Soton overall.

Pleased to have a few days in between game weeks after what felt like a game every day for the past 18 months... makes it much easier to switch off from FPL for a few days!

          OK to hold this week?

Barnes was probably the position I was least certain of pre-season (Benrahma, Torres, Sarr in the frame too) but he's still got some decent fixtures to come.

          Sanchez
          TAA Tsimikas Shaw
          Salah Bruno Greenwood Barnes
          Antonio Ings Toney

Same plan as before for me. Hold until IB, probably sell on WC during them.

Hold until either, or a combination of:
            1) A best-choice 4.0m rears his head (e.g. Livramento? Williams etc.)
            2) I have a spare free-transfer
            3) I desperately need a 3rd Liverpool player
            4) I use my wildcard

Team is already set up so that after the first two GWs it was fine to bench Tsimikas anyway.

Norwich nearly scored once or twice and he was a weak link in defense so I can see Burnley targeting him and being successful. Great going forward though, looked dangerous

              Bench one of:

              (a) Tsmikas (BUR)
              (b) Cresswell (LEI)
              (c) Raphinha (EVE)
              (d) Barnes (wha)

Have TAA and Shaw as other starting defenders.

Feels like it should be (a) but Burnley are poor and he was quite attacking. But also feels wrong to bench Cresswell or attacking mids for a 4.0 def.. Any advice greatly appreciated!

Why Tsimikas? His price won't have any influence on how many points he will get 😉 He's a great option for this weekend for sure. I would personally think about Barnes maybe, as I'm not sure about his minutes (Rodgers showed that they can switch to 3-4-1-2 during the game) and WHU away is not an easy fixture imho. Leicester won in the 1st fixture, but they didn't look very well imho.

              are people sticking with Veltman?

I have 3m ITB and I'm tempted to do a straight swap for Son, but also tempted to shift Veltman for Dier or Reg??

Happy with squad long term, but no City players against Norwich seems weird and scary.
                Should I ?
                A) Stick and save FT
                B) Use FT for one city player
                C) Maverick move, use Free Hit and load up on City.

Meant to do Gundogan > Benrahma last night before price rise but missed out. Can still do it which would leave funds to do Barnes + Toney > Son + fodder if I so decide.

On the plus side, this gives me more time to assess the Gundogan situation and can hold if he looks likely to start and avoid price drop.

Can alternatively do a simple transfer to Greenwood.

                Which do you prefer?

I'm hoping we avoid the price drop (-78 atm) and can decide tomorrow, but I'm in the same boat. Hold for 2FT (with no obvious move in GW3) or jump on Greenwood's tasty fixture.

Not much fear but Salah can obviously cause the damage.

Among normal players, maybe Mahrez or Barnes.
