I’m frankly astonished he hasn’t dropped already. Assumed semi-casuals would have mistaken him for a 4.0 starter preseason given sky-high ownership. That he hasn’t may suggest his owners largely realize he won’t play anyway. Which may mean wage for you to just hold.

Agreed. He was so good at the end of last season, not just scoring but setting up chances. It was his position to lose rather than having to regain it this season behind Barnes and Vardy.

Evening, what are people's thoughts on Greenwood for the next few gameweeks? Is it a possibility he keeps starting? Or will Ronaldo inevitably push him out the team from GW4 and Sancho/Pogba starting wings?
On form Ole may use Greenwood on the other flank and rotate him with Sancho. But if Sancho gets form and nails down a spot on the right, why not play Greenwood left and play Pogba in his natural position? It's not like he can't influence games from there, especially if CR7 and Bruno are pulling defenders this way and that ahead of him.

That's fair...I will say though that I am a fan of 2 holding midfielders with a no-nonsense mindset and no hesitation getting stuck in (you know, the opposite of say, Arsenal), and can also pass.
Most teams are lucky to have one, Chelsea has 2. The Vieras and Keanes of the world are in short supply.
Depending on how the manager wants to play though. Leeds do well with just one.

It's been Salah + Bruno duopoly for two seasons, with Son and Kane as extras last season rather than replacements (because they were cheap enough). Now all premiums are closer in price, and too expensive for 3+ to work
Bruno started at 10.5, Son at 9.0, Kane at 10.5. The price hikes are significant for the template

I'm referring to the template, which is what the quote was referring to. There have always been players available at certain price ranges, and there still will be. The quote is about the popular players, the "right" players, which is why folks like Mane, Sterling and Auba drift out of conversations for now. That doesn't mean they'll all blank forever or that surprises won't happen
But the price structure, even for the premiums at the fringes of the template, lock the template into two heavy hitters only
Again, you could get FPL's top scorers for 10.5m last season, 9.0 two seasons ago. 9.0 four seasons ago. This season is a lot more restrictive with pricing, as things stand. It could all change if someone like Sancho/Grealish goes berserk, of course

No, I don't think it's the same every year. Lateriser's strategy did great in 2019-20 and flopped massively in 2020-21. There weren't good alternative, low owned premiums for him to go for in 2020-21.
If everyone owns the same group of premiums, then you have to rely on budget assets to provide differential power and propel you up the ranks.
Picking the right captain
True, if there's enough of a split in captaincy, it can be exciting. Last year it seemed like too many weeks had an obvious captain with 180% top 10K EO or something ridiculous.
Still, it's more exciting when you have at least 4 good premiums such that it's not possible to own all of them at the same time. Right now we do have high enough prices that it's hard to even own 3.
Yeah, but the duopoly allowed people to just set-and-forget Bruno + Salah as a viable strategy, maybe with Son. Heck, that was the GW1 template. Now, premium transfers will probably fly for fun in the template. That didn't happen much last season or two seasons ago
