    Ronaldo joining utd is great for fpl. The masses will flock to him and the rest of get a solid opportunity to bet against him with Salah/Kane/Lukaku/kdb captaincy. There will also be loads of people weakening their teams to fit 3 premiums

      More premium picks, more opportunities for "upside chasing" also template shouldn't be as strong.

      BTW. I'm rubbish at upside chasing but pretty good at chasing last week's points.

      I'm inclined to agree with this. I think it gives an opportunity for a really good rank this year if you back against him, given he will be blindly captained by so many. Of course if you call it wrong, it could be an absolute disaster, but their GW 7-13 fixtures aren't the best.

      I think its a bad thing for most peoples strategies. Before he moved downgrading Salah and Bruno to Jota and Greenwood to be able to afford the likes of Kane and Lukaku looked a viable option that gave you good coverage across most of the big hitting sides. I don't think Greenwood as a long-term option is viable anymore.

      U know u can easily have 2 premiums. I'm going Lukaku Ronaldo. I'll never have to transfer any other premium in because till GW38 they dovetail for captaincy so well. Only gameweeks that aren't great for them are when they face each other. And possibly GW5.

    GW4 team if Ronaldo comes in as a 12.5m fwd, any more and I think I’ll wait and see:

    Salah Greenwood Benrahma Sarr

      He's age is just a number, he looks after himself so well that I'd risk statement that although much older he is fitter than Kane.

      Just think that Ronaldo & Rooney started at the same level and whilst Wayne was getting fat, slow & sloppy Robaldo was winning titles for fun.

      Let's not compare him with Zlatan. And people who use the words old age and Ronaldo in the same sentence haven't probably watched him play.

    6. Cok3y5murf
      • 7 Years
      2 years, 7 months ago

      Except we didn't. Zlatan started with 3 goals in the first 2 matches, started a bandwagon, but then went on a series of blanks, dropped out of all our teams. Then went on a small streak again in the middle of the season and then dropped out of our teams again. Overall, he wasn't that great that season in FPL.

      Vardy is 35 in January, but when he’s on a hot streak everyone brings him in - people are just trying to downgrade Ronaldos potential

      He also breaks the mould of the stereotypical footballer at that age in that he hardly ever gets seriously injured or needs a rest. The guy is the perfect example of being able to be near enough your peak well into your 30's if you take care of yourself physically.

      I seem to remember lots here being very stand offish with Zlatan.

      It took a while for him to get going properly if i remember correctly and those that got on board at the correct time myself included were handsomely rewarded.

    Just out of interest, when you vote on the captain poll, do you vote for the best option or the one you will be captaining? I ask because Son is surprisingly low to me in this weeks poll.

      always wondered myself! I wote for who I think is the best option, even though I don't own that player. But I don't think people on here does the same. Always the most owned players who get the votes.

    everyone assuming Ronaldo on both pen and freekick. From a football perspective that doesn't make sense. Fernandes is better at both, heavily backed by statistics. Ronaldo only in for 1 or 2 seasons, why would you stop the development for Fernandes, argubly the most important player for the team in years to come.
    One more thing to factor in, personally I don't think Ronaldo will play 90 minutes, or even start, every GW.

    I could be wrong, maybe Ronaldo demands penalties and free kicks. But that would be very unprofessional of United not to do what's best from a sport perspective

    1. Stamford B
      • 2 Years

      I think Chelsea can get a result at Anfield, it could easily be 1-1 or 2-2 too.

      Does Ronaldo give Man Utd a genuine tilt at the title now, along with Man City?

      I reckon Chelsea can win the league which means getting good results in tough fixtures like this.

    Ings, Antonio, Toney*

    4.0, Brownhill, Tsimikas*, White

    A) Tsimi -> Livramnto (yeah I know, little bit too late)
    B) Barnes -> Raphinha
    C) Bruno + Toney -> Kane + Raphinha

    Really like C as captain option this week. World mean

    Saved up 2FTs and spent one this week on Barnes->Benrahma, in order to have 2FTs after international break and WC in GW7.
    But now with Ronaldo about to shake up FPL, I'm thinking of WC in GW4 to capitalize quick and get Ronaldo, Lukaku, Shaw, Semedo, Jota etc.

    So the question is, do i spend the 2nd FT this week to maximize points this week? And if yes, then who do i get now?

    Salah->Son?

    Sanchez
    TAA Maguire Cancelo
    Salah Bruno Benrahma Sarr
    Toney Ings Antonio

    Foster Brownhill Ayling Tsimikas
    1FT, 0.8 ITB

      If you are sure you are going to WC next week then saving a transfer gains you nothing. Might as well use it to chase some extra points

    Went for an early W/C before the Ronaldo business that will serve me right! Thoughts please

    Schmeichel
    Shaw Maguire Dawson Reguilon
    Raph Bruno Benrahma
    Jimenez Lukaku Kane(C)
    Foster Livramento Gray Bissouma

    I could easily get Antonio for Jimenez and downgrade Maguire or Gray but I just have a feeling he will blank.

    Tempting to WC now - bringing in Kane (capping) as a placeholder for Ronaldo

    Of course Toney drops in price the night before I'm selling him, of course!
