Cristiano Ronaldo’s FPL price and position revealed

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally been priced up by Fantasy Premier League (FPL) following the completion of his transfer from Juventus to Manchester United.

The 36-year-old striker has been listed as a forward in FPL and comes in at £12.5m, making him the joint-most expensive player in the game alongside Mohamed Salah.

Ronaldo is £1.0m pricier than Romelu Lukaku (£11.5m) and some £400k dearer than Bruno Fernandes (£12.1m), who many Fantasy managers are seemingly offloading in order to fund a move for his incoming compatriot.

The former Juve and Real Madrid man’s FPL price, as is the case with all new additions, will be locked for seven days upon his Tuesday lunchtime inclusion in the game.

Fernandes remains, for now, the most-owned player in the game despite the 100,000+ sales since the Gameweek 3 deadline.

Cant understand this 'he'll not start at Newcastle', its likely the easiest fixture they can wish for! they will have 80% possession and he will have loads of chances! - from a Newcastle fan!

As good as he is, he still has to acclimatise to the team. It might not be a goalfest and he might not start.

Now the price is confirmed! How's the WC looking?

    Schemichel (Steer)
    TAA Shaw Christensen (Coady, Dier)
    Salah Torres Jota Raphina Trincao
    Ronaldo Antonio (4.5)

    Shaw ---> James when ready/GW 7
Can swap between 442 and 352, and bench strong to cover any rotation

    Thoughts? Cheers

It's a little different but decent.

Don't like the defense. Schmeichel isn't the best imo - better to go for Sa or just stay at 4.5m with Raya/Sanchez. Christensen is interesting but not sure he's nailed. First choice defense is Azpi, Thiago Silva, Rudiger.

Keeper is a tough one! I like Sa too but not sure on a Wolves double up? Like Raya but fixtures are horrendous, Sanchez has been disappointing. Ended up on Schemichel lmao. Slightly considering De Gea...10 saves so far in a solid defence at 5m. Thoughts? Might just end up with Sa anyway since Coady won't play every week

Yeah Christensen is probably a rotation risk but he's started every game so far and Chelsea have looked good. 5m Chelsea defence is too hard to pass on! And the idea is I have a strong bench with great fixtures to cover in case.

Thanks for the advice. Appreciate the explanations 🙂

Are you sure camzy? Thiago is approaching 37 & Christensen has been excellent.

I said he's not nailed. I do think he will play games but I don't think it will be every one. If the CL final was this weekend, they'd play Azpi, Thiago Silva and Rudiger, I'm pretty sure of that.

I would think Greenwood's service and output will drop wiht Ronaldo coming in, might not even be guaranteed a place in the line up for long. Don't want 3 United players too before their run turns soon. Long term planning is my idea.

Ok fair enough. But he won't be benched at this form, will start at RW amd and Sancho at LW is what I am thinking and I see plenty of goals in the next 3 United fixtures, 2 games at home as well.

I've gone Lukaku. If Ronaldo explodes then there's always the WC left over ready to get him, and the added advantage of getting to swap other things around based on unpredictable form changes after the international break.

his torres call at the start of the season was spot on. he just got cold feet with it.
his transfers in - Lukaku & Sarr are extremely good picks. Mbuemo has been lively and OOP.

he is consistently one of the best managers because he frequently goes off-piste and they generally tend to work over longer periods of time.

        Which is better option?

        A: Bruno & Ings -> Ronaldo & Greenwood
B: Bruno & Ings & Tsimikas -> Ronaldo, Jota and Duffy for a hit
        C: Bruno & Iheanacho -> Ronaldo & Fornals
        D: Something else

        My team:

        Sanchez
        TAA-Dunk-Digne-Tsimikas
        Fernandes-Salah-Raphinha-Benrahma

          Fix problems with your transfers.

Iheanacho is a big problem. So I'd do Fernandes + Nacho > Ronaldo + someone not West Ham because you already have Antonio + Benny and they play MUN in GW5.

Surely I can't justify Wildcarding my current team:

        Sanchez
        TAA, Shaw, Reguilon
        Salah, Fernandes, Greenwood, Raphinha, Benrahma
        Ings, Antonio

        Steele; White, Tsimikas, Perica.

        1 FT 0.4 ITB

Thinking a simple Ings -> DCL/Jimenez should suffice. Could get Ronaldo for a hit but not sure it's worth it.

          I'd do Fernandes + Ings > Ronaldo + Torres/Mount

Switching the structure now to have a premium forward is a good idea because Lukaku is borderline essential come GW7

That's the exact hit I considered but don't know if it's worth it.

The structure change doesn't matter to me as I can always do two moves involving Bruno out to get Lukaku in GW7. Plus I'm probably WCing in 7 or 8 so getting Lukaku won't be an issue.

I'm thinking I might hold my WC until 14 for the United swing now. But sure, if you don't feel like you want Ronaldo for NEW/don't think he'll start I'd stick with Bruno on last week's template.

I do want Ronaldo for NEW and I do think he'll start but it's just not worth the -4 for Bruno out imo. I expect Ronaldo to be rested against Villa with their tough run of fixtures following that.

May well be able to hold my WC further too. Shouldn't be difficult to get Lukaku in GW7 with two transfers.

I will take a hit, but I am planning to get C Kaku in now when everyone else is on CR7. Not absolutely happy with it, since I have Pog issue to solve and it forces my hand to do Kaku > CR7 next week.

"upside chasing". It's almost a parody of itself now. If Lateriser has another season like his last one hopefully we can banish it to the shadow realm, as there will be no not excuses for him this year with the avalanche of "high ceiling" players to jump on and off.

It is a viable strategy to try to win the game. Play dullard top 10k template style with one or two differentials and you can perhaps aim to top 100k.

Reality check: Lateriser is an above average manager who had a real knack for picking Aguero's hot streaks (something that isn't easy, I tip my hat in his direction for that skill). This lead to some high ranks.

The reason this concept of "upside chasing" is so popular is because it appeals and justifies one of the biggest flaws in most managers (including myself), and that is to over manage and be hands on. We all love it, our ego is boosted massively, when we feel we have Mourinho'd our way to picking a big haul. The reality is that there is huge variance and luck involved in football and you're better off minimising risk.

By minimising risks you can't chase and improve your rank. That strategy leads average results every year. You can't play this game like everyone else if you want to achieve something. Calculated risks and then being lucky is the only way to do better than the herd. Unless you are happy to get same amount of pts as herd.

When I'm referring to minimising risk I'm referring to not blowing 4, 8, 12 points on transferring players around when you can preplan instead. Keep the points in the bank whenever you can: a fantasy rule that will never die regardless of what fad is the tune of the month with content creators at the time.

it is better now than ever, because you have about 50 youtube content creators all spouting identikit groupthink teams and at least 1mln people blindly copying them. that works both ways - you can go off-piste and if you call it right (e.g. Torres) then you get a massive green arrow, or you can avoid template traps that look like classic groupthink but dont sit quite right (e.g. Toney).

100% with you on the group think thing. I've played the game a long time like yourself and I myself struggle to avoid the pull of it when watching someone with the FPL authority of Mark on BlackBox. I don't believe I need to upside chase and take hits to avoid it though, I can just simply make my own picks and back them (and suffer miserably on my own when they fail haha).

Yeah he was the make-way for Ronaldo in the end - I figure in the event of a disaster I can do the swap back (change a 7.5m mid to Salah and Ron down to a 7.5 striker). Bit of a risk but I'm playing for fun this year!

I'm a bit disappointed that Ronaldo wasn't priced up at least 13m. He finished up at 14.2m twelve seasons ago but I suppose if you take away his extra midfielder points for goals and clean sheets he would have ended up with quite a few less points than Bamford totalled last season.

Shrewd signings and an absolutely world class manager have got Liverpool to compete with the elite (with a helping hand from Barca on coutinho)

I dread to think what happens to Liverpool if Klopp goes, Edwards already looks like he's on his way out

The lack of money spent since the CL win is alarming. The league has better quality is manager and players since the title. Liverpool will struggle to compete over a whole without reinforements. Squad not getting any younger

TAA / Shaw / Maguire (Duffy / Livramento)
            Salah / Jota / Mbeumo / Allan / Benrahama
            Ronaldo / Lukaku (Scarlett)

Costing me a WC, but I always keep it too late and think I'll take the plunge this year.

            TAA, Shaw, Dier
            Greenwood, Jota, Raphinha, Benrahma
            Ronaldo, Antonio, Lukaku

            (Foster, Coady, Livramento, Sissoko)

            Lukaku & Greenwood/Jota become DCL & Salah in GW5.

Any major issues? Any better 4.6 and 4.5 than Dier & Coady? Wolves fixtures look awesome.

I honestly predict Cristiano to score a goal every game.

Easy brace at home. And a monster haul? Def. Scared of not owning him.

12.5 seems right. Or slightly underpriced.
