Cristiano Ronaldo’s FPL price and position revealed

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally been priced up by Fantasy Premier League (FPL) following the completion of his transfer from Juventus to Manchester United.

The 36-year-old striker has been listed as a forward in FPL and comes in at £12.5m, making him the joint-most expensive player in the game alongside Mohamed Salah.

Ronaldo is £1.0m pricier than Romelu Lukaku (£11.5m) and some £400k dearer than Bruno Fernandes (£12.1m), who many Fantasy managers are seemingly offloading in order to fund a move for his incoming compatriot.

The former Juve and Real Madrid man’s FPL price, as is the case with all new additions, will be locked for seven days upon his Tuesday lunchtime inclusion in the game.

Fernandes remains, for now, the most-owned player in the game despite the 100,000+ sales since the Gameweek 3 deadline.

If Ronaldo was playing at City, where the rest of the mids and forwards buzz around relentlessly to win back possession, I wouldn't have any question about bringing him in. But if you listen to journalists who covered him in Serie A (e.g. James Horncastle who spoke about it on yesterday's Totally Football Show) there is a lot of info that gets lost behind his recent goal record. Juve as a team scored fewer after he arrived, his authority often unbalanced the side with players always looking for him rather than the best pass, and he did so little pressing off the ball (and I quote) 'it was like Juve were playing with 10 men' for many games.

The questions for me are: can Ole fit him into a system that allows him to do zero defensive work? Can other players exert any authority over him when he is demanding the ball? (including players like Bruno who have a better record at pens & fks). Can Ole exert the authority to use him sparingly IF the dynamics of the team demand it?

Obvious disclaimer: Ronaldo is the best goal machine ever etc; I'm sure he will deliver a good amount of goals; and he couldn't ask for a better opening game than Newcastle in their current shape.

BUT he is 12.5 and when measured against others in that range, particularly Salah and Lukaku, is he the best pick? And if you blitz your side to fit him in, are you confident that your selection of budget players could keep up with the range of mid priced players that are delivering very well so far?

I might have to hide behind the sofa for the Newcastle game but it's a wait and see for me.

I think if you wait and see you will quickly find his price is close to 13m.

Either get him or don't early IMO

That's fair enough, as we've seen with hyped players at Utd before their price can rocket even if they do less than other players. Right now though, I personally think a nailed on Lukaku vs a Martinez-less Villa is a better captain shout.

There is a cost to your team because you are playing 442. Nobody has won FPL playing 442

Pretty much agree with that. Even worse with Pogba in the side. United will be caught out on the counter when Ronaldo loses the ball or a pass fails to find him, and sides with better finishers than Wolves will put them to the sword.

That looks very nice, but I don't know if you can afford to go without Antonio. He's already doing what we expect from CR7 and Lukaku and for 5 million less.

Oh I know it's a huge Antonio hole but you can't have em all, and I'm not sure West Ham steamroll everyone much longer.

I personally don't think it lasts much longer and do his hamstrings either?

        A risk I agree.

Might need a rethink in the end

For the time being, I'd hold him until he blanks 2 in a row or he gets injured. I'd happily go with him in form than with Torres (rotation risk and we don't know whether he can repeat himself at getting double digit hauls). Hope I helped. Cheers!

Spurs have just signed Royal from Barca so Tanganga is no longer an option unfortunately. If it was a choice between 433 with Antonio instead of Benrahma I'd do that.

It's risky and I don't know why I actually hit the WC button as I'm currently sitting at 34K overall. The thing is, I don't like the prospect of Bruno anymore and if there has ever been a time to get on board for a "3 premium players train" I guess it's right now. It can either propel me up top or I can fall miserably. But that's why I like FPL.

    Best defence on WC?

    Im thinking

    TAA (no justification needed)
Shaw (good fixtures and placeholder for Chelsea defender)
    ?
Livramento (Cheap and can be played sometimes)
Duffy (Cheap and can be played sometimes)

For the ? slot Im stuck between Ayling, Semedo and some others, kinda also depends on what GK I want to have

Not for the next 3-4 games I feel. Rashford is injured and so is McTominay (Pogba has to play deep) with Sancho still finding his feet I think Greenwood is safe for now. Also City face Chelsea & Pool in GW6-7 which is not great at all.

I've literally just praised TAA as my no.1 pick all season but how about this WC draft without him?

    Dodgy looking mid but workable.....

    Sanchez
    VVD James Reguilon
    Salah Sarr Gray Benrahma
    Antonio Ronaldo Lukaku

    4.0m Bissouma Livra Williams

Looks risky, only takes your front 3 to blank (and Salah) and then you're pretty knackered. That said it could work out. Could be very tempting

Looks good. I am also thinking about something similar. James,Shaw, digne and other other defenders in the 5.5 range helps to get a better midfield than having 2 4.5s

Will this team hold up against all the Lukaku and Ronaldo teams?

    Sa
    TAA AWB Shaw
    Salah Bruno Raph Gray
    Antonio Ings Wilson

    Foster Livramento Gilmour Amartey

      Lots of problems there
      Bruno dropping
Wilson against your double United def?
Amartey minutes? I dunno just asking.
No Lukaku or Ronaldo as you know
      Raph no form

      Make a move or two

Ings out to start with, up to you if you wanna keep Bruno or downgrade to afford Lukaku/Bruno. No simple answer.

Maybe but I would just get ronaldo in especially as he’s against Newcastle

    Sanchez Steele
    TAA Shaw Coufal Ayling Tsimikas
    Salah Bruno(V) Benrahma Raphinha Brownhill
    Antonio(C) Ings Obafemi
    2 ft 3.3 itb
    A) Bruno, Ings, Obafemi out ->Torres, DCL Ronaldo in for a hit
    B) Just Ings and Bruno out, for Ronaldo and Torres, no hit, but then I have to play Ayling vs Liverpool
    C) Fix other stuff and WC!

Thinking about doing Bruno/ Barnes/ Ings to Ronaldo/ Havertz/ Gray for a hit. Ideally I wouldn't make moves early but with Bruno potentially bombing in price and I still have Barnes, is there an argument to make the move now, or even at all, or still wait til after internationals?

Move now and use WC if a nightmare happens over the break

    Hi all,

On a wildcard and in the same vote as everyone trying to get as many heavy hitters in as possible. Thoughts on this wildcard - defense and midfield too weak?

    Sanches Steele
    Alonso, Walker, Ayling, Duffy, Livramento
    Havertz, Torres, Benrahma, Gray, Gilmour
    Kane, Ronaldo, Lukaku

    Thanks in advance

Got Salah currently, can easily put him back in and downgrade one of the stickers to Antonio - I don't like the defense either, but might risk it for the excitement of the heavy hitters - thank you.

If you are bringining in Ronaldo and freeing up money by selling Bruno surely Greenwood isn't very attractive due to Ronaldo playing up top. Who is the best Bruno replacement for £8.2m or less? Jota, Grealish, Torres, Pogba, Mount?

Greenwood will still be value in my book, regardless of whether you go for CR

I have a lead and TV lead and squad condition lead in my ML, so I took my first hits and did a mini wc for minus 8

Now I have absolutely zero fires to put out

ESR gets a final chance as planned

        I'm happy!

That doesn't make any sense sorry

If I need to ill wildcard and then get the hits back
