Calvert-Lewin misses out as Everton host Burnley

In the final match of Gameweek 4, Everton hope to go four games unbeaten when they entertain Burnley at Goodison Park.

Kick-off is at 20:00 BST.

The big news for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers is that there is no Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£8.2m) in the matchday squad.

Toffees manager Rafa Benitez provided an update prior to kick-off:

As a result, it looks like a potential back-three formation for Everton, with Richarlison (£7.5m) leading the line and new signing Salomon Rondon (£6.0m) on the bench.

Captain Seamus Coleman (£5.0m) starts after the hamstring injury he suffered on international duty turned out to be minor, Fabian Delph (£4.4m) misses the game with a shoulder injury, while James Rodriguez (£6.9m) sits out due to match fitness issues.

As for Burnley, club record-signing Maxwel Cornet (£6.0m) is a substitute, with Sean Dyche sticking with the same starting XI that drew with Leeds United in Gameweek 3.

Connor Roberts (£4.5m), Nathan Collins (£4.4m) and Dale Stephens (£4.5m) are all missing from the matchday squad.

LINE-UPS

Everton XI: Pickford, Godfrey, Keane, Mina, Coleman, Allan, Doucoure, Digne, Gray, Townsend, Richarlison

Subs: Begovic, Kenny, Holgate, Iwobi, Gomes, Gordon, Gbamin, Davies, Rondon

Burnley XI: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Gudmundsson, Westwood, Brownhill, McNeil, Barnes, Wood

Subs: Hennessey, Cork, Rodriguez, Lennon, Cornet, Pieters, Barnsley, Vydra, Thomas

    Sanchez (Foster)
    TAA Marcal White (Livramento *Amartey)
    Salah Jota Greenwood *Benrahma (Brownhill)
    CR7 *DCL *Antonio
    *** = Problem players.

I already took a -4 to bring in CR7/Jota/Marcal. I planned to keep Antonio thru this week but now DCL is out.

    A) Another -4 (-8 total for the week) for DCL --> Bamford
    B) Wildcard
    C) Something else

Thanks for the replies. I have it now, but going for Semedo could take the more expensive Chelsea defenders out of my reach by the time GW7 comes around

you should be ok with Marcal, but there is a threat of rotation looming over him tho. He isnt a long term pick I dont think, maybe get Semedo and do Semedo>James when Chelsea good fix

Weekly update on Top 10K Finally

The big news of the week was zero ownership of Kings of the Gameweek Zaha and Edouard - firmly expect that to change next time out 🙂

Lots of chips and lots of hits. A quarter of the league went for the conventional IB wildcard and the remaining teams averaged 2/3 of a hit between them with a good few -8s in there. The wildcard boys averaged a fairly impressive 75 points while the chipless were down at 61 points.

Ron was owned by a hefty 60% and Rom by a piddling 20%. Just two had the triple up with Mo.

Star manager of the week? Hyndman Allstars (unclaimed on here) with a spectacular 89 points on WC. The league leadership has switched back to Abra Dubravka after a Mo Rom Ron WC which appears to place him just over 100 OR. Not too shabby. Andy Social is not far behind and Grealicious is also just over 2K.

About half the league are in or around 500K or below. Solid work at this stage.

That’s it a couple of tough fixtures for West Ham. Ya MUN Lee next two. They’ve one FDR of 2 in next 9 games.

        Thanks for the input

How do people feel about moves that free up loads of money, when you see no plan yet with what to do with the money. I'm was looking at Antonio out for Pukki, followed by Alan out for Gallagher the next week to set up a Pukki/Gallagher home rotation until GW13. It would now be DCL. It leaves me with a total of 3.3m itb. I've looked at ways to force it, a e.g -8 to bring in Ron and Pukki for my two knackered strikers. But it just feels like I'm totally hamstrung after that with 3 premiums and setting myself of for a mare.

    It would be:

AWB, Ant, DCL to Pukki, Ron, 3.9 for (-8)

Instead of just playing AWB, Williams and Pukki (WAT)

Do you prefer to look hard at the fixtures and think carefully about hits and the future, or do you just smash it and wack in players that use most of your money?

Look hard at fixtures, plan for the next 4 or 5 game weeks minimum and I'm happy to sit with loads in the bank. I hate hits, never more than a -4 and only -4s when theyre blatantly obvious. People worry too much about price changes in my opinion.

Just as an example of how i play. I've already gotten this written down on a piece of paper near my computer...

        Digne - James Gameweek 7
Ronaldo out and Salah back in Gameweek 8
Antonio and Ronaldo back in gameweek 14
        DCL gameweeks 19 - 26

These are moves I work towards whilst avoiding hits.

Yeah I've been doing a similar thing. My plan is settle on Lukaku, Salah and 2/3rds of a defence as my spine until the big united swing. Pick up a Chelsea mid or defender along the way, otherwise keep a million float itb to drift around the best mid price mids with the FTs. Obviously a lot can change and you need to adapt, but, that's what I'd like

It's the best way and most strategic way to play i think so you do right. Granted short term people who take the -8s might end up scoring a monster gameweek, but if you plan for the future come gameweek 38 you'll end up with a decent rank.

      2. Pacer.

That's how I'm trying to approach the season. I feel like I might have to limit my expectations for a week or two and be pragmatic so that I don't end up in a poorly thought out hole with few choices. It's tough though isn't it, when big names are just dangling there a hit or two away

        1. Khark

Some weeks are more about damage limitation. This week im without Salah after deciding to go Ronaldo and Lukaku over the next couple with Firmino out i thought Jota might be able to match Salah's points. Hasn't worked out the first week, and Salah captain scares me. Could easily do a -4 and get him back, but im holding firm and if i have a 100k rank fall i'd be delighted.

I like to plan my transfers but things change and don’t always allow the things you want to do. Part of the fun really. Like my post above. I had planned on doing a wolves def for next 3 fixtures then gamble on a few players over the next 3/4 and then wc

My wild card team so far. Think I nailed it with this one. Ronaldo and Gelhardt will eventually become DCL and Antonio in GW 7-8.
    Sanchez
    Semedo - Marcal - TAA - James
    Salah - Traore - Torres - Gray
    Lukaku - Ronaldo
Bench: Steele - Gallagher - Williams - Gelhardt
