Mark Sutherns is back alongside Andy on the eve of Gameweek 5 to reveal his latest thoughts and Fantasy Premier League (FPL) line-up over on our YouTube channel.

This video is an exclusive for Premium Members – and there’ll be plenty more to come in 2021/22.

In this latest episode, Andy and the FPL BlackBox co-host look ahead to Friday’s evening deadline and the opening Gameweek clash between Newcastle United and Leeds United. Though, at the time of recording, the pair have both turned their backs on Marcelo Bielsa’s much-fancied attack.

The Michail Antonio (£7.9m) decision dominates the early exchanges, while Mark lends his thoughts on replacements for the stricken Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£8.2m).

Mark offers a positive review of Andy’s 4-5-1 but is left doubting his own captaincy decision when it’s suggested that Romelu Lukaku (£11.6m) could even outstrip the overwhelming armband favourite, Mohamed Salah (12.5m)

    Better off with Lukaku in front line and upgrade a def? Or keep as is and for GW7 can switch Ronaldo and an existing def to Lukaku and chelsea def?

        Cheers. Yep, doubling on Leeds attack is definitely a concern! I suppose I'm a bit hesitant on Jimenez as well, as he seems to be playing a different kind of role compared to pre-injury. More mulling over required here!

        Never fully understand the double up argument, shouldn't you just assess each player in their own position?

        I'd argue Raphinha is the best 6.5m mid and Bamford (with no DCL or Antonio) is the best 8m forward, does it matter so much that they play for the same team? Both have good fixtures.

          It's a good point, they do need to be assessed as individual options. I think my concern was whether the raft of defensive injuries Leeds have will affect their attacking prospects, given how rigidly Bielsa applies his systems.

          That said... I did end up hitting confirm on my option A!

    Is this Marçel chap completely nailed? (Havent watched them at all this season). Perhaps others' turn to provide the points? Coady likes the bonus system and is nailed. Saiss pretty dangerous from set plays. Hmmm...

      I would not do A or B yet until some action from Bamford and Jimmy.

      If anything, I would do Brownhill to Gray and go 352 and then make a plan to get rid of Toney the following week. Broja may get a game for Soton this weekend and only 5.0, could be a decent enabler.

        it was between 3/4/3 or 4/4/2 and i think with the budget of 5m i would prefer a defender than a mid especially wolves with good fixtures coming.
        Couldnt let antonio go thats why my mid is a bit weak.

          I am also keeping Antonio. In this form he is worth it. Maybe downgrade Kaku and then get him after gw7. But cant blame you having them all 3, it is just that there are really good mids atm who could match Kaku input in next few

      All the 4.5 playing mids end up like hitting potholes.

      Sissoko, Mcarthur, Gilmour, Douglas Luiz etc etc etc.

      Does not really matter which one you pick but Mcarthur seems the better of the bunch.

      You need to decide on your chosen formation, if it's 442 then you are benching a 5.5 player. If your formation is 352 then you benching at least 4.9 if not more

      I'm not too keen on wasting money the bench

        Disagree. Think it's fine to have a 4-4-2 with a MID/FWD price at 5-5.5 as 12th man.

      forward line standsout as weak. Whats your backup move if ASM stinks or is injured?
      quite a few 7.5-8m forwards but 6.5 is tough bracket.
      Thats your compromise with Mendy. Easy CS but is it worth spending 1-1.5m extra for the extra ~3 points per game?

    R James and Alonso have pretty similar job security. James might start a couple more, but will also sub on for a bunch of 1pt cameos and score less goals.
