Captain Sensible

Who are the best FPL captain options for Gameweek 6?

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have three main captain candidates for Gameweek 6, with Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.7m), Mohamed Salah (£12.6m) and Michail Antonio (£7.9m) all in the conversation.

First, we will assess the fallout of the Gameweek 6 captain poll, before then analysing the best options, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 BST deadline.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

Ronaldo dominates the vote so far.

Meanwhile, second-placed Salah has received 27.72% of votes ahead of his away match against Brentford.

Antonio occupies third place with 7.98%, with the top-five list completed by Romelu Lukaku (£11.6m) and Bruno Fernandes (£11.9m), with 3.52% and 2.35% respectively.

Couple of options going through my head at the moment.

    A. Keep Bamford and use the bench. 2FTs in GW7 Shaw/Ayling to Alonso/Rudiger and Jota to Gallagher
    B. Bamford to Dennis/King for 2GWs. 1FT in GW7 Shaw/Ayling to Alonso/Rudiger. Jota still an issue

Option B could make me lean towards WC in GW8

    1FT 0.4ITB
    Foster
    TAA Shaw Livramento
    Salah Benrahma Jota Raphinha
    Ronaldo Antonio Bamford*
    (Bachmann Veltman Brownhill Ayling)

Interesting to see another person considering Dennis/King. I've been mulling those 2 as a potential replacement for Bam as well. Prefer B out of those 2 options

      1. Tonyawesome69
        • 5 Years

Gives me some slight cover for Sarr. King is central but I have some concern over his mins compared to Dennis.

Also gives me funds for a Chelsea defender but Jota would be the main issue in GW7.

Firmino has been out for 4 weeks and now taking part in full training. He might not be in the squad for the Brentford game, at best on the bench but 100% in the squad for Porto. If Firmino is fit, I can't see Klopp starting Jota v City in GW7

Do you want Jota for City?

Likely Jota will start vs Watford after internationals if Firmino is travelling with Brazil again? (Unsure if he is)

Bench Semedo. Duffy a threat from set pieces which Palace are poor at (look at the Liverpool game). Livramento with the home game vs Wolves so leaning towards that

You should if you alresdy were rewarded with the option of two transfers. Why lose that advantage because you played your wildcard? Everyone gets two wildcards. The player sitting on 1 transfer ends up the same as the person sitting on two. Not fair in my opinion.

So every year theres always some match results (especially towards the start of the season) which seem so predictable due to form, team ability, injury status etc but when the match happens it just goes completely wrong and us FPL managers are left thinking 'Why do we even try?'

Leeds are one of those teams capable of pulling results out of thin air and I have a strange feeling this weekend could be one of them, hope Im wrong though

Its just an odd feeling. So far most of the FPL season has been relatively predictable resulting in a lot of serious players starting with high ranks, I have no doubt we'll soon get a reality check that there is plenty of luck still in this game

If I look back over the last five seasons I would say those teams are Southampton, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace.

This season I would consider them to be Southampton, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace.

        Debating this myself

Sarr nice stats compared over the last couple of weeks but is Norwich skewing

Think I'm saving for Chelsea next week and maybe a minus 4 depending

Yeah I think I could be on this too. The Norwich game is slewing yes but he also plays another 2 shocking defences which worries me.

Soton looking solid, banking on the newcastle game.

I have same dilemma. I think I’m going to hold. Sarr had a good game against a poor Norwich and after the next two has a tough run. Traore is playing well and If he can get his crosses and finishing right, could start getting points. But it’s a gamble

Yep this is my thinking. Annoyed I went with Traore over Sarr a week ago though.

Allows double transfer next week for Chelsea

he said that? that really would have to be Greeny benched

Would mean a front 2 and change in formation. Can’t see Ronaldo going wide too often. Greenwood would be the fall guy sometimes for sure and Sancho. 4312 with Bruno in the hole and Pogba in a midfield 3 possibly?

        What's the exact quote?

Now it makes me think that Greenwood might not start, rather than Ronaldo being subbed.

          Exact quote

“On a potential Cavani-Ronaldo partnership: "It is exciting to see them two together. That will be a good partnership. Those two are boys you like to have around the goal when clubs are not giving you space.”

I think we will see it in this game with Villa going three at the back.

Cavani is ready, does that put you of from captaining Ronaldo? Cavani coming in for him at some point?

Nah, they will introduce him in as a second striker as opposed to subbing off Ronaldo. Ole has been speaking about their partnership, I.e. them being on the field together

My guess is Greenwood starts and gets subbed off for Cavani, and then switch to 4-3-1-2 (4-4-2 diamond). Shaw could have a filed day if that happens.

That’s my thinking. United could start with either or depending on opposition.

Did he really say Cavani is ready this gw.
He didn't even have a run out midweek.
        Seems odd to me

          Yeah he did.

"Edinson has joined in training fully after that game [on Wednesday] and he’s held his hand up and is ready.

"Last season as well, he didn't have a pre-season when he came here. He's so professional and meticulous and, of course, we're glad to now have him back training with us and in the squad."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "Edinson has joined in training fully after that game [on Wednesday] and he’s held his hand up and is ready. We didn't lose anyone on Wednesday night."

I'd probably roll or shift Greenwood

Give James a couple of weeks see where he's up to. I think he'll be back

Torres a good run after Chelsea. I don't think he'll start tomorrow but could be fruitful after tomorrow
