Bissouma absent as Edouard makes first start for Palace

In the final match of Gameweek 6, Crystal Palace host Brighton and Hove Albion at Selhurst Park in the M23 derby.

Kick-off is at 20:00 BST.

Odsonne Edouard (£6.5m) makes his first start for Palace, having scored twice as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur in Gameweek 4.

Luka Milivojevic (£5.4m) also features in the starting XI, with Cheikhou Kouyate (£4.5m) and Christian Benteke (£6.3m) dropping to the bench alongside Jeremy Schlupp (£5.4m), who has recovered from a thigh problem.

Eberechi Eze (£5.9m) and Nathan Ferguson (£4.5m) remain sidelined.

As for Brighton, a win at Selhurst Park tonight would see them go top of the Premier League.

Robert Sanchez (£4.6m) and Shane Duffy (£4.3m) – who are currently owned by 25.4% and 22.5% of FPL managers respectively – both start, but Yves Bissouma (£4.6m) misses out with a knee injury and is replaced by Pascal Gross (£6.0m).

Dan Burn (£4.4m) is also in for Solly March (£5.4m).

Tariq Lamptey (£4.4m) again makes the bench, with Graham Potter stating last week that they will carefully manage his return to fitness.

GAMEWEEK 6 LINE-UPS

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita, Ward, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell, Milivojevic, McArthur, Gallagher, Ayew, Zaha, Edouard

Subs: Butland, Kouyate, Kelly, Clyne, Schlupp, Hughes, Olise, Mateta, Benteke

Brighton XI: Sanchez, Veltman, Dunk, Duffy, Burn, Cucurella, Gross, Lallana, Trossard, Maupay, Welbeck

Subs: Steele, Lamptey, Connolly, MacAllister, Moder, Alzate, March, Roberts, Richards

67 points on WC with eight points from my back four. Not a very promising ratio but happy.

Getting ahead of this rapidly swinging template is risky. Even moving with it is tough enough

I held Jim until he finally got his goal, but he's already surplus to requirements, with Lukaku + Jesus + Antonio calling as the GW8+ frontline. Heck, CR7 is being shipped. THE Ronaldo. Bruno, Son and Kane are past tense. Toney left the template before he finally came good. Pick your excellent cheap mid, but change him next two GWs... Premium defence out of nowhere, after all the talk of TAA + 4.5s to fit threemium in for that GW4 haul

    It's all so fast

Oh, those who've done that so far this season aren't enjoying it

There have been too many points scored by too many players so far this season. GW6 is the first "normal" GW with an average that looks low for this season, but actually fits previous seasons. It's been around 55 points average, for 8 million players

It's been template or bust so far. The hope is that it changes now and GW8, but so many players will make those same transfers and it's a new template

My template rating is only 64% and I’m 14K. Back yourself and stop worrying so much about what everyone else is doing! There’s a lot of options this season which makes it easier

You had the template in GWs 1 to 4, and wildcarded three differentials in for GW5, having those three differentials and the rest of the template in GW6

            64% template rating is HIGH

You should have certain players though. Not because they are template but because it makes sense. Salah and Trent for example are template for a very good reason. People will be getting Lukaku/Alonso now for a very good reason. There’s a difference between playing your own game and being different for the sake of it.

And if you want to play smart and choose players with form and fixtures, you end up with the template

Because there's no deadwood this season. We don't have enough casuals. It's high intensity moves from the GW1 template to the GW4 template to the GW7 template. Snooze or lose. Go different and get burnt

                Hence my point

The weekly averages are too high for the usual fun risks

                  Realistically we are picking

                  2 from 6 Keepers
                  5 from 20 defenders
                  5 from 25 Midfielders
                  3 from 15 forwards

So yes, there’s a lot of the same names but loads and loads of different combinations of those names.

If you want to go outside that and have fun picks then great. Play the game however makes you happy. If you’re going to do that though, don’t be unhappy when it doesn’t work because more often than not, it won’t.

Too many points lost for going a different way so far this season. Salah + TAA have been huge factors here, but they're not alone

Livramento got a price rise before his first return. That's the season we're in

Just depends on who's shouting loudest at the time

The threemium set up is around 20% on here judging by MLs but plenty have been holding off it waiting for fixture swing and premium defence. They just weren't screeching about it as it was a midterm play and not instant. I'm seeing a fair amount of consistency.

Interesting part is that there are two competing proposed templates - big at the back and big up top. Both with next to nothing in the middle. Pretty standard surely for the early season template to die a death at this time.

      1. Ze_Austin

It's not the FFS template I'm referring to here, but overall

A lot of points for highly owned players so far. Any deviation has gotten punished heavily

I really, really hope that GW8 is the inflection point. But I know that the template will just shift to that new highly performing squad by GW9 anyway

      2. FPL Theorist
        • 4 Years
        2 years, 6 months ago

Agree with Pingissimus about the competing templates.

Also, after GW8 not many will have a WC left to switch to something very different. I'll be on a big defence and rather locked into that. Those who are on the 3 premiums and already played their WC will find it slow to shift to a big defence if that's what they want. They might decide to just not switch, whereas if they had a WC they would switch.

First time I've watched Brighton this season and they looked pretty rank to me. Had been thinking of holding Duffy over Livramento but now less certain and thinking I'll simply keep the cheaper. Was that performance consistent with previous games?

Yep Palace were very good and they also outplayed WH for a half - their press was amazing tonight.

Still and all I was shocked at how supine Brighton were. Bissouma a huge miss perhaps but the pattern of play just wasn't there. Curious as to whether that is the story so far - they got lucky against Leicester I know.

Duffy Livra isn't a big decision I know but I'm much less clear having watched tonight.

It's tempting to go for TAA, Alonso and Cancelo! Already got the first two, but it will take me 3 transfers over the next couple of GWs to get Cancelo in.

    Traoré > Doucouré
    Benrahma > Gallagher
    Marcal > Cancelo

Would leave me with this team:

    Ramsdale
    TAA l Alonso l Cancelo
    Salah l Gray l Doucouré l Gallagher
    Lukaku l Ronaldo l ASM
    Bench: Steele, Sissoko, Livra, Williams

Is this something I should plan for? Midfield is kind of weak, but that don't bother me, I don't care where my pts come from.

I don't know if I want to deal with another GW where both Ronaldo and Lukaku blank.

Having both going to wreck quite a few GW points totals it seems.

      1. pingissimus
        • 5 Years
        2 years, 6 months ago

That was always likely to be the case if you look at patterns of returns. Get three big guns in and you can expect weeks where two blank.

Put very crudely Mo should be in line for 30 returns this season judging on past performances. That's the likely high bench mark. You also need to calculate that there'll be several weeks when he blanks as he often gets double returns. Last time out he had 17 blanks. Assume Ron and Rom have similar patterns (ambitious perhaps) and you could a total of around 50 blanks in the season. They won't fall evenly so there'll be weeks where two or three blank.

    Thoughts on this WC?

    Ramsdale Foster
    TAA Cancelo Alonso Rudiger Livramento
    Salah Raphinha Saka Sarr Brownhill
    Lukaku Jimenez Antonio

Only problem I see is that I will have one expensive player on the bench. I will prolly downgrade Sarr and upgrade elsewhere after a gameweek or two.

Sarr doesnt really rotate well with anybody as he has alot of red fixtures and he's too expensive to be kept on the bench for my liking. Im not really sold on Jimmy yet, but he could be upgraded using Sarr money

Very similar to mine below. I've got Gallagher instead of Sarr, that's the only real difference. I think with this 4 at the back, there will be benchings every 2 or 3, so I think a strong first sub is needed around the 5.5 to 6 mark. I don't see an issue with so much value at the moment.

Decent. Although Burnley yet to keep a clean sheet and law of averages have to change for Norwich soon surely.

Would prolly not do it. Punts should be taken in attack, even if you are going to wildcard the week after IMO

Mee's feeling very proud of himself at the moment and boasting to his team mates as the first Burnley player to be considered amongst the 8.2 million teams playing. Very proud indeed!

Even though Burnley haven't kept a clean sheet yet, they're playing the worst team in the league (by a distance) at home.

Norwich are bottom for goals scored (2 - both by Pukki), shots on target and xG. Lost 16 PL games running, scoring 3 and conceding 40! Watching them without Buendia is sad, they have no spark and are poor in the air - something Burnley thrive on.

Mee/Tarkowski and Wood are more than worth the 1 week punt.

Gallagher, yes. Jimmy is the one in this team I'm not 100% on, but think he is worth a go for the next three and then re-assess. Can downgrade to Toney or Armstrong at that point.

I don’t think you have enough money in midfield personally and you’d almost need another wildcard to restructure properly

      1. Cruicky
        • 12 Years
        2 years, 6 months ago

can always downgrade one of Rudiger/Alonso to a 4.5-5.0 and upgrade Gallagher/Saka to a 6.5-7.5 if needed. It's a very good team.

cheers! Yeah, those defenders are cash cows at any point, plus I have in mind that I could downgrade Jimenez to Toney when Brentford's fixtures improve from GW10, so that frees up over a mil.

The other thing is that on this WC, I could go a 7.5 mil mid instead of Jimenez for instance, but no mid around that price is really that appealing- maybe Torres, but Jimmy is hard to ignore with those next three.

I love the keepers, defence and forwards but Saka, Gallagher and Allan as 3/5 midfielders is too much sacrifice in the midfield for me.

I agree in theory- but just don't know which higher priced mids to go for really. Torres or Jota possibly, but rotation risks.

Totally know what you mean, but with this formation, Gallagher and Allan are bench players so you kind of have to think about it a bit differently.

Well if Alonso doesn't play on comes Gallagher (or even a Cancello rotation).

A big four defence needs one very good midfielder, and you can play the fixtures without transfers.

I a 8m midfielder emerges from the dark you can move then too.

Fair point. I’ve struggled with 4th mid this year. I had 4 blanks in a row in that spot to start the season and I wasn’t ever comfortable with the player I had there. Sarr has been the answer for me but he’s had 2 of the good fixtures of his run now. You’ve convinced me. Good luck with it : )

    Which one on WC?

    a) Ronaldo, Gray
    b) Vardy, Grealish

Thinking B is less favourable but is Ronaldo really worth 12.7M? He's listed as a striker, not a midfielder so even if he hauls a goal a game he may get 6-9 pts max
