FPL Gameweek 8: The key player and team statistics

Our Big Numbers piece looks at the key player and team statistics ahead of the next Fantasy Premier League (FPL) deadline.

We’ve again run down the stand-out figures in every position for this article, as well as looking at the strengths and weaknesses of various clubs.

These stats all come from our Premium Members’ Area and only subscribers can read the full article; those wishing to sign up to our site and continue reading, as well as see a list of the benefits that Membership brings, can do so by clicking here.

90% of the shots faced on target by Aaron Ramsdale (£4.6m) have been saved, which is the best save percentage of any goalkeeper with over one appearance. Arsenal have kept three clean sheets from the four games since Ramsdale and Takehiro Tomiyasu (£4.6m) were handed debuts, alongside the return from injuries of Ben White (£4.4m) and Gabriel (£5.0m).

13 goal attempts from bargain centre-back Shane Duffy (£4.3m). The Brighton man dominates set-piece threat stats, with more shots than any other defender. He has scored once and gained an assist for winning a penalty against Leicester City. His rate of 48.5 minutes-per-chance only falls behind Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m) and Aymeric Laporte (£5.5m) of those defenders with substantial minutes.

10 touches in the opposition area from Matty Cash (£5.1m) since Aston Villa’s switch to a wing-back system. Cash has been allowed more attacking freedom over the past three Gameweeks, also coming second amongst defenders for shots (five). His goal and clean sheet against Everton returned 15 points.

217 touches in the attacking third recorded by Luke Shaw (£5.4m), the most by any defender. Despite falling in price and losing over 1.6 million owners, he ranks ahead of Joao Cancelo (£6.2m) and Alexander-Arnold. Additionally, he has the second-most successful passes in this portion of the pitch (108) for a defender and is third for chances created (18).

FPLMarc Newcastle fan that spends far too much time thinking about FPL.

But Brazil head coach Tite said: 'There was never that possibility [of them returning to England early]. They were called up for the three games.'

Of course the forward line is weakened but it's one of the better TAA/Son/Salah sides i've seen being able to fit in the good defense as well. Will be hard to bring in CR7 later if you want him but you can worry about that later

Wc is there to get rid of the ones that have got points to the ones that will get points (or from those not getting points to the one who will) Townsend is in this category. 2 6.3 and below strikers is tricky if they dont work because what can you move to in that price range? Laporte over Azpi.

Not sure why Jota is not a go to, he costs 7.6 and plays striker for the most potent attacking team, and unlike City assets who can be rested all game, Jota will barribg injury play in every game so not really necessary to have bench to cope with No shows. And yes, some games might be 15-20 minutes but look at last season he got goals Even as sub.

Order these three, please. First one starts and others have a reasonable chance of playing too:

    A. Raphinha - knackered after trip to S. America

    Son or Grealish/Foden on WC?

Getting Son means, no two Man City defenders. (He has an incredible run of fixtures coming up)

Where as with Grealish/Foden, I can get both Cancelo and Dias.

    A: Get Son
B: Get Grealish/Foden is: triple up Man City
    C: Neither, get someone else

The problem is, percentages of nailedness are a meaningless concept with Pep these days. Any player can pretty much be dropped and frozen out of the first XI for an indefinite length of time.

I think most are just going for Lukaku cuz of fixtures. And Salah cuz he keeps hauling. Threemiums will keep.

People were planning 4 weeks ago to sell him and get Lukaku for the fixture swing. That's the opposite of knee-jerk.

If you want to say Ronaldo sellers are making a mistake, it would be stubbornness going through with their plan to get Lukaku despite his lack of returns.

Add Luiz to your list of South American players. You could end up with a nightmare if you are missing the 3 South Americans, and TAA isn't ready in time, leaving you no cover if there's a Pep roulette or Tuchel Tombola

Great team.. Except for GW8 you have
Jesus, Raphinha, Luiz possibly not playing due to the world cup qualifiers.
Then you have rotation risk Chillwell. That's a few problems and assumes Pep doesn't spin the wheel.

    Who to bench from:

    A) Christensen
    B) White
    C) Livramento

Also have TAA and Rudiger, expecting 1 coming in for Raphina

It’s a little bit annoying that Raph will miss game week 8 while also having jota with firminho not called up, sigh.
