Get involved with Scout’s new Fantasy Football Community website

For the last decade Fantasy Football Scout has been dedicated to providing the very best insight and advice for the fantasy football community. That remains our ongoing mission and we have no plan to change it.

Today however, we’re delighted to announce a brand new(ish) addition to the Fantasy Football Scout stable that’s aiming to celebrate not only the Fantasy games that we love, but also the passion, talent, entertainment, and insight that have sprung up around them – FantasyFootballCommunity.com

First things first. Although this site is managed by the Scout team (including Marc and Sam), we are absolutely not looking to create a new version of Fantasy Football Scout. Neither are we going to be taking anything away from that site either – quite the opposite. Instead, we’re setting our sights on a wider angle view of the community.

The Fantasy Football Community site was initially launched by Holly Shand, herself a prominent member of the Fantasy community (who will continue her good Fantasy works on Twitter, Instagram and beyond, and may even pop up here from time to time!). Her mission was to aggregate some of the best content and advice from the wider Fantasy Football community into one place.

This is also at the core of our plans for the site, as we will be aggregating insights, tips and outlier views into a few regular articles. However, that’s really just the starting point. We also want to use this space to offer a platform for new talent and divergent voices, to celebrate the most interesting, insightful and entertaining community members and to showcase the biggest debates and funniest opinions.

Overall we will try our best to celebrate and support not only FPL and the other awesome games, but the entire culture that comes with being a Fantasy manager.

Suffice to say we can’t do that alone. Whilst Marc, Sam and others will be feeding in their views, to truly represent the Fantasy Football world, we need your help. If you’d like to contribute an article (where one-off or regular), share an entertaining or brilliant insight you’ve posted or seen on social media or just suggest someone else deserving of recognition and props then please do get in touch via ffcommunity@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Oh, and do sign up for our Twitter account, which is just getting started.

Hi....any views on this wildcard please? Pending James news...

I'm concerned that cancelo James and raph may all miss out this week, meaning in relying of the full bench - although happy with these 3 picks long term....0.2mitb

    Ramsdale
    Taa cancelo James (duffy livra)
    Salah son raph mbuemo (brownhill)
    Lukaku antonio hwang

    Thanks

Nice team, would say James & Hwang will likely not start all the games, so may get odd cameos or your bench should cover it if they don’t come on

At what point are there simply too many FPL websites?

Same sort of thing can be said about YouTube FPL channels. I watch Letstalk FPL every so often but my YouTube recommendations are now pushing 'FPL Mate', 'FPL Focal', FPL Tipz'.

There are only so many different variations of "Salah is a good captain this week". It feels like everyone wants to become a creator yet realistically once a couple of sites/people have solid content, I'm not sure what more anyone new can really add.

We are at saturation point with the content and info out there now ,t's getting ridiculous and to be honest starting to take some fun out of the game.

The amount of content seems to have increased significantly vs prior seasons, maybe it’s just me. Amount of information, view points, data out there is massive. Does have some parallels I think with investing where it has become progressively harder over time for active managers to outperform benchmarks, I think it’s been called the paradox of skill.

Any suggestions for this wc draft?
KdB > Taa is a calculated risk, but a bit concerned with the two Brazilian mids and that defense for the weekend.

    Ramsdale (Raya)
Alonso - Cancelo - Laporte (white - livra)
Salah - KdB - Raphina - ESR (Luiz)
    Lukaku - Antonio - Hwang

    1. tankle

Losing KdB for a cheaper city mid and upgrading Luiz to Mbeumo seems the secure route (while also upgrading Laporte to TAA), but feels so dull. Although not chasing in my mini leagues, so dull might be good

Is Alonso to TAA ( if fit) worth -4? Need to do Greenwood /Jota to probably Mbeumo or Saka to fund

    Present team

    Alonso Rüdiger Cancelo
    Salah Greenwood Jota Raphinha Benrahma
    Ronaldo Antonio

    Foster Livramento Semedo Scarlett

I don’t really understand the rush to sell Alonso if you have decent bench coverage (which you do). Looks back to his best and prime fixtures on the horizon

Not worth it. If Alonso starts this week he could be gold, he could be gold next week too. I’d look at maybe waiting 2 gameweeks until Alonso ——> TAA

I’m really interested to hear of anyone’s enthusiasm for fantasy has been affected by the Newcastle takeover, because mine has.

I’ve been playing this game for years and am pretty much obsessed with it, as I am with the Premier League in general.

But now a nation with an appalling human rights record has bought one of the clubs and, even though I don’t support that club, I feel like the whole league has been tainted.

After all, the attraction of buying the club, and the “glamour” of it, comes from being in the most watched and talked about league in the world. And I’m one of the people driving up those numbers by watching it and talking about it.

I know we’ve had a state owned club already. And I know we’ve had owners that some people don’t like. But this feels very different and on a whole new moral plane.

I’ve had a few days to let this sink in but still feel the way I did when the deal went through:

I really don’t want to contribute to the glamour of this deal for the new owners by joining in, and it’s putting me off the premier league and the fantasy game I love.

I’d be interested to hear whether anyone feels the same - or can talk me around so I can enjoy fantasy again!

One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist and all that.

Western nations claim to be so holy and righteous, yet they'll spend trillions digging up others resources, blowing up their innocent civilians, and doing it all under the false narrative of freedom and democracy, whilst at the exact same time, LITERALLY arming these so called "evil", regimes and nations, by selling them their expensive death machines, tanks, planes and toys!

Agree, they're the next level up (or down) in terms of the level of genuine scum involved in that regime. Makes a bit of a mockery of the PL campaigns about 'taking a stand against all forms of discrimination' while allowing a backward tyrant to use the league to deflect from a system built on racism, misogyny, homophobia etc.

I fully get where you are coming from but is anyone really going to see the team as anything other than *Newcastle United*? People aren't going to go - them Saudis are jolly good chaps - just because Newcastle win the league are they? I know perception, subconscious or otherwise, is a thing but I'm not sure people are going to make that connection (or particularly care either way):

If people don't already think bad of them now it's because they genuinely couldn't care less and I think that's probably the case for a lot of fans - bad shite happens in multiple countries every day but most people don't care/aren't aware/don't want to be aware because it's not affecting them - might be 'selfish' or whatever but it's the same almost everywhere

Think it's already been seen in the behaviour of quite a few NE-based politicians - at least one of who proselytised in parliament a couple of years ago against Saudi as deals, then spent the past year lobbying for them to take over Newcastle - and journalists, who've quickly forgotten about the murder of a peer when it looks like they might get a trip to a CL draw sometime in the future. This is s good article that touches on some of the impact it's had already: https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/opendemocracyuk/we-must-realise-the-threat-posed-by-saudi-arabias-newcastle-sportswashing/

thanks for the article, agree that there are some big time hypocrites involved in this and it doesn't really sit well with me either - but even that article itself even calls it the 'rather fuzzy concept of ‘sportswashing’' - I really don't think it makes most people feel in any way different to those regimes - they simply don't care, as the header image shows.

At the end of the day it's Newcastle United, not Saudi FC, and I think it will stay that way in the eyes of most fans

            1. Squeazy
              • 8 Years

I really appreciate the responses mate thank you. Sadly I can’t agree because this has been widely reported as a Saudi backed takeover and Newcastle continue to be described as Saudi owned.

City, as a point of comparison, are often described as ‘Citeh’, have a national airline as a sponsor, and have crown princes at their games waving to camera. I’d guess awareness of their ownership is high, that the owners are now associated with the success and glamour of the team, and that the Saudi government are looking for the same with Newcastle.

If it isn’t that I’m really not sure what the motivation could be.

I'm 0.1m short of this team. Is there an easy 0.1m to lose without weakening it?

If you already have Raph he’s due a price rise tonight, and there’s your .1

Thanks. I won't make any money of the raph rise as I only got him as I hit the wildcard button for 6.6 last week.....ditto my selling price for cancelo is the same price as dias costs....

Potential for cancelo and James to miss weekend.....I'll weigh up raph to saka for security of start ....thanks

flirted with the idea - wouldn't surprise me one bit if he outscores Lukaku

Great team! Im on a similar wc but with a 3-5-2 formation. I think a midfield with salah and mane could be good long term
