Zaha misses out as Palace face attacking Arsenal XI: FPL Gameweek 8 team news

In the final match of Gameweek 8, Arsenal host Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.

Kick-off is at 20:00 BST.

Mikel Arteta makes just one change from Gameweek 7, as Nicolas Pepe (£7.1m) replaces Albert Sambi Lakonga (£4.9m) in an attack-minded starting XI.

He joins Martin Odegaard (£5.5m), Emile Smith Rowe (£5.4m), Bukayo Saka (£6.4m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£9.9m) in the forward positions.

Gabriel Martinelli (£5.2m), who was a doubt heading into the game, is named as a substitute, with Granit Xhaka (£4.9m) a long-term absentee with knee ligament damage.

As for Palace, Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) misses out completely, with Christian Benteke (£6.3m) taking his place alongside Odsonne Edouard (£6.5m) in attack.

Conor Gallagher (£5.7m) – who is owned by 7.8% of FPL managers – features in midfield, ahead of Joel Ward (£4.5m), Joachim Andersen (£4.5m), Marc Guehi (£4.5m) and Tyrick Mitchell (£4.5m) at the back.

GAMEWEEK 8 LINE-UPS

Looking for some WC feedback, please. Currently 14k and looking for a slightly differential WC to make a push up the ranks.
I have 0.1 ITB. I thought about Vardy but if Luka does do well vs Norwich then the exposure might kill my other diff.

    Sanchez

    Trent, Chilwell, Cancelo

    Mbeumo, Raph, Salah, Son

    Tony, Iheanacho, Lukaku

    Foster, Livramento, Manquillo, Brownhill

Maybe start foster instead or Sanchez?! Team looks good, shame you can’t find a spot for Livramento this week..

really the only different pick i see is Iheanacho.

i would be going for Mane if I was on WC this week.

      Lukaku & Mbeumo > Mane & Broja?
      Lukaku & Son > Mane & Aubameyang?

Hmm, I actually really like this. Luka and Son can also become KDB and Aub but then I'm taking a big chance with Norwich. Defo something to think about. Cheers

It’s a solid line up I’m very jealous of. Natcho Is a nice pick and frankly son is gold. I’ve never been that high up rankings but get your captain calls right and give Lukaku his next 3 games before shifting. Good luck

      Very risky.

      Tuchel re Chilwell.

"He got his chance against Southampton and he took it. He was able to score and play for England which gave him more confidence and today again he was strong. He’s in good shape but we need him in this shape because we have many games in many competitions to play. I’m happy and it was a decisive goal that will give him confidence.”

Thank you for that. Very helpful. But with Wednesday night and Saturday midday being there next 2 games, followed by the carabao cup midweek the week after, Will he play Norwich if he plays Malmo too?!

100% Madness. The risk that he doesn't start but potentially comes on is way too high. Salah and Luka are better options.

Gotta be either Salah against a poor United defence or Lukaku against Norwich
This is not the week to take a punt on someone who may not even play
Let's hope Lukaku is rested vs Malmo, surely they can win without him

Looking to get rid of Jota, Semedo, Benrahma, Sarr and Lukaku. 1 FT, 1.5 ITB. Who gets the chop first?

I just did Ronaldo to Vardy. Looks at Vardys stats. Hes in a purple patch if he blanks this week he will score the next. With Ronaldo it looks pretty ropey at the minute.

Yep. Wish i had listened to those few Vardy supporters a few weeks back. But i was sitting on Ronaldo and too stubborn.

Yeah but Foxes are looking a bit better and they will be looking to attack a Brentford side that isn't afraid to attack them right back. Plus Vardy can score vs anyone. As strong as Brentford are on defense, they will still give up goals to big attacking sides imo.

Using it becoz in 10yrs waiting for a dgw to use it its a fail. Last time this season I had good fixtures and Raphina got injured so didn't use it and still bench made 14 pts.

Also 32 ahead in big ML so an extra few pts would be handy..

Lukakus awful form and Werner being Werner?

Chelsea just don't look attacking enough. They aren't a free scoring, flowing team. Tuchel just wants to grind out results.

I did think about that. But you don’t always get 3 of the worst defences lined up for you like that

No- partnership doesn’t work and Tuchel will change things probably with Mount and Havertz playing behind Lukaku so expect more benchings for Timo

Have Chilwell who's scored 2 more than Lukaku's 0 last 2 and 1 more than Werner. I'd probably rather another Chelsea defender who in more attacking form than Lukaku and Werner lately

No - not expecting CS but more chance of save points hopefully for Sanchez

No, great fixture for Sanchez coming up v Man City - think of all those save points.

Good point but Sanchez never seems to get save points so was thinking of getting rid for mcarthy

You don't expect MCI to be able to shoot vs Brighton?!?

If Alonso plays Wednesday would you remove for -4 and get Chilwell ?
    Team would be

    Sanchez
    TAA Cancelo Chilwell*
    Salah Jota Raphinha Benrahma Mbeumo
    Lukaku (c) Antonio

    Foster Livramento Semedo Scarlett

i'm debating the same thing if he plays Wednesday, or for Azpi. If he doesn't then i'd keep for next GW but then still get rid.

I am considering also Laporte, but he is likely the next MCI def to be rested. Since it looks like that R James is the cameo risk and either Alonso or Chilly plays 90 mins, might get Chilly. Not certain about that Che def, woodwork is not going to save them all the time.

On my wildcard and settled on either:

    A)
    Ramsdale, Foster
    TAA, Cancelo, Pinnock*, Duffy, Livra
    Son, Salah, Raphinha*, Mbeumo, Brownhill
    Lukaku, Broja*, Vardy

    B)
    Ramsdale, Foster
    TAA, Cancelo, Manquillo/Amartey*, Duffy, Livra
    Son, Salah, Gray*, Mbeumo, Brownhill
    Lukaku, Toney*, Vardy

Thoughts much appreciated! Anything else I'm missing? 0ITB.

    Thanks!

Looking more and more likely i'll be bringing in Son, Anyone else disagree with their FDR's for the next three? They are certainly are NOT 4's in my opinion.

I'm on a WC and Son and Vardy not even in consideration. Spurs are still crap and beating Newcastle doesn't change that and Nacho better value if I even want Leicester forward right now

Haha yeah i guess so, it's between son and vardy, but vardy is way hotter on form i guess. Maybe is hould listen to wiser people in this instance becasue i have been in freefall lol

Yeah I've tried to avoid relying on the FDR's for the most part, and instead just stick to recent form and eye test, home/away, etc.

As far as i am aware, FDR is a measure of chances of an overall good result, and all 3 of those teams could easily beat Spurs, despite whether they score or not. Doesn't change Son's quality of course, so FDR not very relevant for you here.

Cheers bud, yeah i don't really pay much attention to FDR's for the msot part, but they're always there for you to see so i just assumed they were a bit off there.
Indeed all of those could very well beat Spurs, Kiwiw touches on that also above with it only being Newcastle, jsut that pesky Son keeps scoring, but then again so does Vardy, plus penalties. I shall listen to reason here and just go Vardy instead.

Yeah, i mean, it's not like Son's a bad choice, just that Leicester seems more attacking. I might even cram him in after jettisoning my midfield deadwood.

I just did Ron>Vardy instead of waiting so I'm willing to take that chance on him.
