Fantasy Football Scout wins ‘best editorial’ at Football Content Awards 2021

Fantasy Football Scout has been voted as the ‘best editorial’ in Fantasy Football for 2021.

Scout scooped the accolade at the Football Content Awards, which took place at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London last week.

The competition in our category was fierce with Fantasy Football Hub, All About FPL, Planet FPL, Who Got The Assist?, Fantasy Football Fix, The Draft Society and Fantasy Football Geek all nominated.

We’d also like to congratulate FPL BlackBox and The FPL Wire for their fully deserved wins in the ‘best video’ and ‘best podcast’ categories, plus Let’s Talk FPL who took home the silver award.

But, most importantly, we are also hugely grateful for the ongoing support and interest (not to mention votes!) from our readers, viewers and listeners, who have for years helped us maintain our position as the number one resource for Fantasy Football.

We would not be where we are now without you, and we cannot thank you enough.

Mbuemo the obvious replacement for Doucoure at that sort of 5.5-6m range?

Already on the boat of taking people out of my WC just after one GW, so help me out:

    1. Mahrez >> Mount/Mbuemo

I wildcarded last week too and will be doing 2 (was always the intention to do the move - was just a matter of what week). I’d probably do the same in your position though less than ideal to have that many booked in transfers imo.

          Cancelo for me

    1 FT - 1.7m ITB

    Sanchez
    TAA - Rudiger - Reguilon
    Salah - Raph - Benrahma - Sarr
    Ronaldo - Antonio - Toney

    Foster - Livra - Veltman - Brownhill

    A) Reguilon > Cancelo
    B) Ronaldo > Lukaku/Vardy/Firmino
    C) Sanchez > Ramsdale/Raya

Would like to sort these transfers out over the next 2 weeks, then focus on freshening up midfield. Which 2 would you make this week for a hit?

    1. Bojam
      • 6 Years
      2 years, 5 months ago

Reguilon worth keeping imo. Bench him for the next 3 tough games and start Livra. Then Spurs' fixtures turn and they've got a great run. Two assists already this season. Could be gold if they start keeping clean sheets again.

Don't bother switching keepers. Sanchez' next two fixtures are poor but just ride that out I think.

Ronaldo to Lukaku or Vardy looks like the play this week.

No need to take a hit.

I'd be concerned about Sarr though. Watford look really poor.

      1. Cheeky Onion
        • 6 Years
        2 years, 5 months ago

I had really high hopes for Reguilon, and it was half warranted with his attacking returns. If Spurs could keep the odd CS, he'd be one of the best value defenders in the game.

I guess Foster's fixtures are decent enough to cover for Sanchez, although they're yet to keep a CS all season.

Was always planning on Ron > Lukaku for the fixture swing. Still may, but Vardy or even Jimenez would give lots of funds to improve midfield. Agree about Sarr, might look to do Sarr + Benrahma > Son + Townsend/Grey/ESR with those extra Ronaldo funds.

Sound sensible. What are your thoughts on my WC team below?

  7. Bojam
    • 6 Years
    2 years, 5 months ago

    Wildcard activated.

Can I get thoughts on the following please:

    Raya, Foster
    Cancelo, Azpi, Chilwell, Duffy, Livra
    Salah, Son, Raph, Tielemans, Mbeumo
    Vardy, Edouard, Toney

    0.5ITB

Vardy could be Lukaku but would need to downgrade somewhere. Even though his fixtures are nice, I'm not convinced with Chelsea's attack and he has looked out of sorts. I've owned Lukaku since GW4 and the blanks have been painful!

TAA - Liverpool's fixtures are a bit tough for the next 3 or 4 weeks. Will bring him in for one of the Chelsea guys or Cancelo after that. Will need to downgrade a bit somewhere but plenty of options.

Chilwell is a bit of a risk but reckon he'll start 3/4 probably. Livra and Duffy offer enough cover to deal with rotation. As long as Azpi isn't rotated out at the same time (with Cancelo always at risk of a random benching).

I know the funds are quite spread but having a strong bench is going to be important through the winter period. Like the fact that I can rotate in strong options depending on fixtures. E.g. This coming week Edouard starts and either Mbeumo or Toney can be benched. Next week Edouard has City so he can be benched and Mbeumo and Toney start vs Burnley.

    Comments appreciated!

Who would you get instead of Azpi for a locked in premium? Chelsea's next 3 fixtures so good that want to target a defensive double up. Did consider Mendy but there is the occasional benching and he'll be going to the African Cup of Nations in the New Year so would mean a transfer at some point.

Azpi doesn't have anything like the same threat as the other two. He can get attacking returns of course but probability of a 15 pointer is much lower. The strategy relies on Livra being good for consistent cs. Not a long term play but imo a valid short term plan if you reckon one of Alonso or Chilwell is likely to haul.

They don’t tend to sub on in games unlike Reece James. Would sell one once a established League starter becomes clear but I think the starting LWB is the best Chelsea asset each GW for them and I thought this would guarantee it. Appreciate its different and appears suboptimal.

On a WC, I ma having a tough time to assess Raul Jimenez.
Wolves are average regarding attacking threat. I think he is really missing service but at the same time he's kind of that style of player. A few chances and banging the goals. Can Wolves step up thanks to the kind calendar ahead?

Another intringiung option is Ihenacho. Could he be an option?

I'm on WC too (see above). Iheanacho is tempting. Leaning toward Edouard personally as Palace have a long run of nice fixtures barring City in GW10. Has scored 3 in 5 games - not all starts. And considering the opposition those are very promising returns. Viera has them playing attacking football.

Werner on borrowed time imo. Hasn't delivered and can see Tuchel going back to playing Lukaku up top on his own with two of Mount / Havertz / Pulisic / Ziyech / Hudson-Odoi in supporting roles.

Question mark over Gray now with Doucoure's injury and DCL still out. Richa might be back but Everton struggling with injuries. Might be time to bail.

You've gone all in on defense so best play them with subs to cover as above.

Townsend a good option. So is a Gray. But injuries taking a toll. Doucoure out now. DCL still not ready. Richa possibly. Fixtures not looking great after Watford and Wolves. Might be time to bail. DCL coming back does boost Townsend and Gray but Townsend loses penalty duty then.

    Hi Folks

Any thoughts on this wildcard, Too heavy at the back?

    Raya Foster
    Chilwell Rudiger Dias Cancelo TAA
    Salah Son Mbeumo Brownhill Normann
    Lukaku Toney Broja

    Thanks in advance

Too heavy at the back is an understatement. Not for me.

Yes imo, would drop atleast one of them

Yes for me. Midfield too weak. I guess you plan to start a back 5 every week and play 5-3-2? But Broja, Brownhill and Normann provide very little back up when the inevitable benchings happen. Broja might be an inspired pick but there's a lot of competition and very little evidence to go on yet. I'd drop two defenders down to cheaper options (get Livramento!) and upgrade in midfield.

My WC is activated. Here's my current draft:

        Raya, Foster
        Cancelo, Azpi, Chilwell, Duffy, Livra
        Salah, Son, Raph, Tielemans, Mbeumo
        Vardy, Edouard, Toney

        0.5ITB

Considering changing Azpi to Dias for security of starts.

        Thoughts?

Azpi is probably as secure as Rudiger(when fit) for starts. So looks good. I would be more worried about Chilwell.

Can deal with one of them being rotated in any given week. Bench can handle that. Just not both of them being left out at the same time. Reckon they both start at least 2/3 if not 3/4.

Definitely wouldn't lose Azpi yet think he's fairly secure (everything's relative) and the fixtures he has are exceptional

Agreed! Worth the risk for the next three I think. Then can bring in TAA when Pool's tougher fixtures are out of the way.

Way too heavy, I understand that there aren't alot of great midfield options right now. But are you going to play 433 and/or 532 every week?

Thanks for all the replies, yeah the plan would be 532 every week. Like you said the midfield choices are very uninspiring. It just looks at the moment that the 5.5 to 7 mill defenders will far outscore their midfield and forward equivalents.

True but the risk of any of them being benched - especially the Chelsea and City players, is very real. Need a stronger bench with more options going into the busy winter period. It's too inflexible at the moment.

Tielemans a good replacement for Doucoure? Other option would be Mbuemo but already own Toney and am thinking of bringing him in for Gallagher after Palace's game at Newcastle anyway. Cheers!

I think so. Leicester have changed shape. With Soumare and Ndidi holding, Tielemans has licence to get forward. Decent run of fixtures coming up. Could easily pick up more goals and assists. Nearly got a second goal at the weekend - de Gea made a great dave to deny him.

Think this is a good move but wouldn't take a -8, I know Man U are fairly hopeless but Ronaldo could easily score as could Benrahma against imo poor Spurs defence this could come back to bite you if they do. Would possibly roll a transfer to take a longer term route to get where you want to be.

I think Tuchel very soon will se that Lukaku play better with Mount and/or Havertz/Zyiech around him and not with Werner. So think Werner is on borrowed time.

Think I agree. Lots to fix here. Though wasting a FT is a shame. If you're going to play the WC, activate it now and make the most of it. Friday game this week so not long to get it sorted.

For some perspective, rolling FT last GW and not hitting WC button deviating from the plan caused my OR increasing from ~140k to 84k. Can't expect this luck every week though 😀

Appreciate your thoughts on whether I roll a transfer or take a -4pts to transfer:

    -Ronaldo to Toney,
-then one of Gallagher or Sarr to Son?

On related note whether you think Sarr or Gallagher are better in short term?

    Thanks

    1. Bojam
      • 6 Years
      2 years, 5 months ago

Gallagher better in the short to medium term I think. Watford look dire. Gallagher is cheaper and carries a threat in a more cohesive team with decent fixtures coming up.

Reckon you could wait a week to bring in Son. Up to you though. I'm not adverse to a -4.

Not worth the hit. Do it next week when toneys fixtures turn?

Gallagher personally. Crystal Palace look decent whereas Watford under ranieri looked awful.

I know the effect two blanks will have on most FPL players, but Antonio is about to face his easiest defence since Leeds
