Who I think are the best Brentford players in FPL for Gameweek 10 onwards

After a high-variance, polarising week for many Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, we must now look ahead to Gameweek 10 and the new challenges it brings.

There are plenty of opportunities to make up ground lost in Gameweek 9 and I would like to talk about a team that have impressed me to no end this season: Brentford.

The Bees sit 12th in the Premier League table with 12 points, which is about what you would expect from a ‘good’ promoted side. However, the underlying numbers have not just been good, they’ve been great.

Before that, I would like to provide some context by mentioning that they were second bottom of the Season Ticker from Gameweeks 1-9.

However, let’s look ahead now to the next nine weeks:

Brentford sit right at the very top of the Scout ticker for the next nine Gameweeks. Gameweek 10 is a great entry point too, as the below image shows that their next three opponents, Burnley, Norwich and Newcastle. are in the bottom three for non-penalty expected goals conceded (xGC) this season.

Let’s have a look at Brentford’s attacking numbers over the last four Gameweeks. For context, they have played Liverpool, West Ham, Chelsea and Leicester over the aforementioned period. All four of these teams finished in the top six last season:

    Each week the Scout panel of Neale, Tom, Sam and Az pick a team of players who they think will fare best in the upcoming Gameweek, but their choice may leave some people questioning - can I do better?

    Well, time to prove you’re more than just talk - each week a member of the community will be selected to go head-to-head against the Scout Picks, with the Community Member who has the largest winning margin across the 38 weeks taking home a £100 Amazon voucher and entry to our Mods and Cons League.

    If chosen, you will have a budget of 83m to select 11 players but outside of that standard FPL rules apply - you need to use a normal FPL formation and with a limit of 3 players from a team. And remember to choose a captain and vice-captain.

    If you’re interested in applying, email me at will@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk with the subject heading “Community Picks”. Include your FFS username and FPL Team ID and I’ll select a champion at random from the entrants for Gameweek 10 and 11.

    This season there is a draw for a champion and a sub, just in case the champion is unable to get their selection in on time. The sub then becomes the champion for the following Gameweek.

    The champion will be picked Thursday evening, so make sure to enter by then! If selected you then have until 1pm Friday lunchtime to send in your team, but I’ll work with you to allow tweaks right up to the deadline (in case of injuries announced in the press conferences).

    Toney rose again last night, that's twice in recent weeks despite scoring 2, 2, 2

    Chilwell didn't rise last night despite scoring 8, 15, 12

    Chilwell is cheaper and owned by less people

    Keen to get Toney in for Armstrong but that means benching one of these outfielders (presuming everyone fit)

    1. Ramsdale - for Arsenal's def stats

    3. Sanchez - high ownership, safe pick (?)

    Probably skipping on McCarthy as have Livra already, been also considering Guaita but not sure at all, rather tough fixtures.

      Williams to Chilwell will get you a lot more points. Leeds are really struggling, Raph also has an 8 point ceiling. Good looking team that!

          I think a strong squad is important in the run up to Christmas, it will give you a bit of headache but Chilwell looks immense and yeah you can bench ESR Gray or even Rudi in tough games...

          Would be a benching headache yeah, but one of your premium defenders likely benched each week. But you'd have to play 4-3- or even 5-2-3

  20. Pompel
    • 10 Years
    2 years, 5 months ago

    My team is looking a bit stale, and injury doubts on Raphina and Mbeumo has me tempted to do a -4 to get rid of Ronaldo and allow for Foden in. Even f Raph should play, I still think his ceiling is low against Norwich this GW. And Evertong/Gray upcoming fixtures are not the best

    Sanchez
    Rüdiger TAA Cancelo Christensen*
    Salah Raphina* Mbeumo*
    Ronaldo Antonio Jiménez

    Steele Livra Gray Sissoko

    Looking at these alterntives, all for a hit. If moving Gray on, I'd have to do it today to not be priced out

    A) Raphina + Ronaldo -> Foden + Vardy -4pts
    B) Raphina + Ronaldo -> Foden + Auba -4pts
    C) Gray + Ronaldo -> Foden + Vardy -4pts
    D) Gray + Ronaldo -> Foden + Auba -4pts
    E) Save FT (so boring)

    thoughts?

        Close to playing Guaita vs City instead of Ramsdale now... Ha ha, probably not. Vardy pen stats os good but he tends to miss one here and there, maybe i can get a pen save? Had only 1 since started playing 15/16 season, Flappy i think for West ham.

    Saw some people on twitter moaning yesterday that Vardy may not be fit for the weekend. And I see the same people moaning just now as Vardy is fit and now they can't ship him out. Crazy folks, I tell you.

      Confirmation bias I guess. Want to be able to complain that they have to make a change, then when they can't do that they want to find other reasons why it makes sense to make a change. I brought him in for this and the Leeds game in particular (did it a week early because of the Lukaku injury), let them all sell and for hits!
