Who I think are the best Brentford players in FPL for Gameweek 10 onwards

After a high-variance, polarising week for many Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, we must now look ahead to Gameweek 10 and the new challenges it brings.

There are plenty of opportunities to make up ground lost in Gameweek 9 and I would like to talk about a team that have impressed me to no end this season: Brentford.

The Bees sit 12th in the Premier League table with 12 points, which is about what you would expect from a ‘good’ promoted side. However, the underlying numbers have not just been good, they’ve been great.

Before that, I would like to provide some context by mentioning that they were second bottom of the Season Ticker from Gameweeks 1-9.

However, let’s look ahead now to the next nine weeks:

Brentford sit right at the very top of the Scout ticker for the next nine Gameweeks. Gameweek 10 is a great entry point too, as the below image shows that their next three opponents, Burnley, Norwich and Newcastle. are in the bottom three for non-penalty expected goals conceded (xGC) this season.

Let’s have a look at Brentford’s attacking numbers over the last four Gameweeks. For context, they have played Liverpool, West Ham, Chelsea and Leicester over the aforementioned period. All four of these teams finished in the top six last season:

The 2 transfers I have in mind are Azpi to Chilwell and Saka/Raphinha/Brownhill to Foden

What are people's thoughts on losing Raphinha this GW before the Norwich game for Foden and upgrading 5th mid in Brownhill to Foden? I would need to downgrade Vardy for funds later regardless to fit in both Son and Foden.

    Ramsdale
    TAA Cancelo Livramento Azpi*

Norwich fixture is the attraction. Leeds form and playing with an injury is off putting.

I did both last night otherwise I'd have been priced out, but the price rise never came. I expect both to rise tonight though.

If money isnt an issue hopefully you'd find out news today or tomorrow but cant see Raph being 100%

Money isn't an issue for Chilwell and/or Foden. It is an issue when I want Son in GW12 and need to downgrade Vardy for a hit.

That is my concern with Raphinha. Playing with an injury in a out of form Leeds team. Of course he could get a return, DD haul is unlikely but Foden long term would outscore him

Yeah I'm a bit hesitant on that move as it'll change my setup, no longer having a 5th bench playing midfielder. It might be the move since premium forwards are lacking form and no standout picks

Keep Raphinha unless he's out long-term, and wait for news on Azpi but I'd say the same for him. I think moving between Chelsea defs will often end in disaster

I can't see myself keeping Raphinha beyond the Norwich game. Looking at the upside of Chilwell, he should outscore Azpi long term

You wouldn't keep him for Leicester (conceded 9 in last 5) or for against a really poor Spurs side? If that's how you feel though then fair enough, but would you be keeping Saka for longer instead? Chilwell has a much higher ceiling than Azpi for sure but with Azpi you'll be much more assured of starts. Chilwell is on a good run now and maybe I'm wrong and he'll hold that spot for the majority of the season but if he starts getting benched or just regularly rotated again it'll cause you trouble, especially after moving from someone that pretty much will always play when fit

I'm not convinced with Leeds form at the moment. Raphinha is a quality player but he is playing in a poor team and getting goal scoring chances are not high when compared to Foden. I think the LEI defence will tighten up with Evans and going 3ATB.

Is Azpi that much assured with starts? With James RWB and Chalobah playing well at RCB, could we see Azpi play getting rested more?

I agree. Leeds have been awful. Really shows how important Bamford/Raphinha's relationship in that team is with Philips holding. Once that gets disrupted, it gets disjointed.

How many goals will Leeds realistically get 1 or 2 perhaps? I may be wrong, but I see Arsnela getting that and certainly Chelsea and Man City. It just sets my team up for the coming game weeks (which isn't to dissimilar to yours)

Bamford is meant to be back this GW but match fitness will be low so I'm not expecting much from him this weekend.

I like Saka's fixtures in GW 11 Watford and 13 Newcastle, both home fixtures.

I think the way Foden plays as a false 9 is Pep's preferred option.

Ah WC makes all the difference - nicely set up then

Suspect Palace could sneak one - they'll be one of the very few teams that are likely to have a go at City in any event. Clean sheet more probable of course.

2 as well. I do like the stat that Chilwell rarely comes on but did in midweek to score goals /increase attacking potential.

But as James is the one coming on i'd start Chilwell and if he blanks hopefully James starts.

    How is this looking:

    Ramsdale
    TAA - Cancelo - Chilwell - Livramento
    Salah - Raphina - ESR - Mahrez
    Antonio - Vardy

    Gunn - Gallagher - Armstrong - Duffy

Is it too risky taking Mahrez out for Foden?

Initially had plans to do Duffy > Chilwell but I'm wondering if Christensen > Duffy is a better move? Although Tuchel is going to rotate until the death, I'm slightly concerned with Andreas' minutes of the last few games... Obviously I have to wait on Vardy / Mbeumo news before confirming anything. 4.7m ITB - Thoughts appreciated!

I don’t see why you would get Duffy now, fixtures aren’t the best and he was just dropped for last game, I know many think he will come right back but it’s hardly ideal

It looks like both Raphinia and Vardy could be fit, so:
    a) Townsend --> max 7.2 (maybe Mbuemo if fit)
    b) Jimenez --> Toney (not really fancy that as EVE defence is shaky)
    c) save FT (regardless BRE promising calendar)

and if c) than bench Townsend or Livramento?

Right, am I G2G this week? Would prefer a different keeper this week, but Sanchez' fixtures after this week are pretty good.

    Sanchez
    TAA - Rudiger - Chilwell - Cancelo
    Salah (c) - Son - ESR
    Antonio - Vardy - Toney

    Steele - Gray - Livra - Sissoko

Anyone think Pep gives Foden a 'rest' this week for being the only one to miss a spot kick?

not cos of the missed penno solely, but roulette and champions league are a constant factor against selection

Pretty conclusive then. I don't have him and I don't have an easy route to him, but the thought did strike me.

    6. bench boost for every gamew…

Ha ha, i dont think so, but it would be hilariously fun if he did, but he is lined up to play the 3 next games, if he plays a lot for a England next IB then Pep probably rotate him a bit. To me aoeo looks like playing certain players in patches, not from game to game rotation. Seen it with Mahrez and Sterling before, Jesus is on one now, etc, but i would not read much into it.

    WC activated - 3.3m ITB.

    1. Keep Sanchez long-term or risk Brentford Keeper?
    2. Mount OR Son long-term?
    3. Is James really worth the rotation risk, or is boring but solid Rüdiger better?

    Sanchez,
    Chillwell, James, TAA, Cancelo,
    Mount, *Raphinia, Salah, Foden,
    Tony, Antonio.

    Foster, Hwang, Livarmento, Brownhill.

      1. Sanchez
      2. Mount then keep enough itb for Son in GW12 if we see an upturn in Spurs form
      3. Prefer Rudiger over James since you already have Chilwell.

Cheers - agreed Re Rudiger! Son is tempting atm and would like to jump on before the fixture turn... United can't be that bad again, can they?

    A. Sarr+ASM >> Foden+Broja (-4)
    B. Sarr >> Mbeumo
    C. ASM >> Toney

    Foster
    TAA • Chilwell • Rüdiger
    Salah • Mount • Raph • Sarr
    Kane • Antonio • ASM
    (Sanchez, Livra, White, Gilmour)

B.. But depends on you current back line.

Exact cash to do Havertz > Foden. Havertz could haul of course, but Foden is on form, was benched yesterday, going up in price tonight and is a long term move. Do it or not?

Does Grealish get one more role of the dice or do I bench him and get him out next week? I’ve already used my free to do Alonso > Chilwell. My main dilemma is Grealish or Sarr?

I would even consider Grealish & Duffy to TAA Mbeumo for -8
