Our Big Numbers piece looks at the key player and team statistics ahead of the next Fantasy Premier League (FPL) deadline.

We’ve again run down the stand-out figures in every position for this article, as well as looking at the strengths and weaknesses of various clubs.

These stats all come from our Premium Members’ Area and only subscribers can read the full article; those wishing to sign up to our site and continue reading, as well as see a list of the benefits that Membership brings, can do so by clicking here.

Cash shows more attacking threat, how Hwang fared, why Jimenez was benched: FPL notes 3

4.9 minutes per baseline bonus point (BBPS) recorded by Emiliano Martinez (£5.5m) this season, the best rate of any FPL goalkeeper. A penalty save against Arsenal helped but no top-flight shot-stopper has accrued more BBPS for pass completion. Martinez has more actual bonus points (seven) than any goalkeeper in 2021/22, just as he did last season.

38.6 minutes per chance presented to Ben Chilwell (£5.8m) this season, the best rate among FPL defenders in 2021/22 other than Arsenal’s deputy left-back Nuno Tavares (£4.3m).

24 penalty box touches registered by Matty Cash (£5.1m) since the start of the season, the most among Fantasy defenders. A total of 19 of them have come in the last six Gameweeks, with six of his seven shots in the opposition area also recorded during this period. Dean Smith has been deploying Cash as a wing-back in a 3-5-2 from Gameweeks 4-9, affording him more attacking freedom, although three defeats on the bounce could prompt a change of system this weekend.

6 shots in the box recorded by Antonio Rudiger (£5.8m) in the last six Gameweeks, a total that no other FPL defender can better in that time. Much has been made of the attacking threat offered by the full-backs/wing-backs of Chelsea and Manchester City but the Germany international, whose left-sided centre-half role allows him to ghost forward even during open play, has had 10 efforts overall from Gameweek 4 onwards.

10 of the 28 Premier League goals scored by FPL defenders are on Chelsea’s books. The Blues’ backline is responsible for 43% of the goals that Thomas Tuchel’s side have scored in 2021/22 and two more than their midfielders have plundered as a collective.

129 touches in the final third recorded by Tyrick Mitchell (£4.5m) over the last six Gameweeks, the best total among sub-£5.0m defenders in that time. Crystal Palace sit top of our Season Ticker from Gameweeks 11-20, once their trip to Manchester City is out of the way.

Anyone else ever get to Friday and when it comes to transfers, realise that waiting has cost you a load of team value so just stubbornly refuse to do it?

Yup. But look at the Lukaku injury. Move early and it can cost you more. No point whatsoever moving early unless you will be priced out, if you can afford to wait you must.

Lukaku took the price rise & sold, this week Foden & Chilwell for Greenwood & Alonso + .4, you wait too long unable to get the players you want.

All the flags didn't help. My planned moves of James, Gray and Ronaldo to Chilwell, Foden and Toney now cost 0.6 more than they would have done. That's enough of a swing to make me not bother. Probably the wrong thing to do, but too stubborn.

If they turn out to be the right moves the price difference will increase further.

James may still play. CR7 is now a great diff for THIS weekend and Gray is certainly not the worst. I would wait now and have the luxury of 2 x trans next week.

P.S. I have kept CR7 too and was also contemplating He and Christensen to Chilly and Jesus. But not now.

I have a pragmatic approach, if i know early who i want and who i want to get rid of i have no problem making early transfer, as long as i dont have to many issues or not at least 2 players on bench i can turn to if something happens, but often i dont know what i want to do then i just wait and sometimes that ends up with coating a little bit.

I think as long as Armstrong is the one you consider out then maybe better to save so you can make a mini vc next week, easier then to get who you want then just go for someone in 6 below braket.

I wouldn't benchboost. Your starting 11 looks correct.

Save the BB for a double and just accept that with a deep squad, which is ready for the Christmas carnage, that you'll have bench headaches every so often

2.3 but I’m keeping some funds in the bank because my plan (I know planning ahead can be ruined by injuries but I like to have at least an idea) is to bring in Son for Mount GW12 and then bring Ronaldo in from GW15/16

Raph to 4.5 by GW16 will fund your Ronaldo move

Realised Gray would be on my bench regularly until GW19, mostly as second sub because Livra will probably score more points as the first

So I sold him for Brownhill, who's now third sub behind Livra and D.Luiz, with a steady stream of 2/3 points when needed

Those funds will be useful elsewhere

I kind of like this but at the same time, double Liv def, playing a little too much gong ho this season so not sure about 15m invester, and Tsimikas is there lurking.
Double 4.5 mids is what it is but also 2 cheap strikers in which one is not nailed, hm. I think Antonio/Vardy is pretty much the same, so Ant and a striker in 7-8 braket and then Robbo to City def and maybe have someone like Smith Riw
