Scoutcast: FPL ‘dreamers’ welcome Conte’s return to the top flight

Joe and Andy are joined by Kylie to help Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prepare for Gameweek 11.

A key trend during this rotation hit FPL season has been the value of Southampton’s defender Tino Livramento (£4.4m), whose points have been arriving off the bench each week when needed.

With regular Scoutcaster Seb sidelined, the show has turned to its very own Livramento, Kylie from the 3Amigos podcast, to fill in.

She helps Joe and Andy through a packed show that takes in the arrival of former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte at Tottenham, assesses the low and high owned underperformers and plays a game of ‘buy, hold, sell’.

“We as FPL managers are dreamers, we are all chasing that elusive 300-point scoring unicorn,” is one of Kylie’s lines that is likely to stick with many regular listeners and viewers for some time, particularly those investing in Spurs assets hoping that the former Italy manager can turn around the fortunes of Harry Kane (£12.1m) and Son Heung-min (£10.2m).

Can ‘the UniKane’ revive many FPL managers’ seasons too?

Elsewhere, new dad Andy drops out towards the end to tackle some family issues, leaving Joe and Kylie to manoeuvre their way through the show’s remaining regular features.

There are fixtures to frisk, captains and transfer plans to reveal and decisions to be made regarding the Scoutcast’s community team. This is being managed by the show on behalf of a top manager, who is taking a season-long break. Thankfully, it has achieved another green arrow following a well-timed Wildcard a few weeks back. Can this strong form continue?

The differentials section takes on an extra resonance this week, as FPL managers look for a way to climb their mini-leagues when almost all their rivals will be perma-captaining Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) for the foreseeable future.

This week’s episode was aired live via Youtube on Tuesday 2 November. Be sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel to get notified of future live episodes. It is also available as a podcast.

    TAA Cancelo Chilwell (Livramento) (Walker)

I really like Son for the Spurs' good run of fixtures but that's available for -4. Is it worth it?

    What would you do?

    My def: Azpi/Cancelo/Chilwell/Livra/Duffy

    1) Start Azpi this week, bench him next week and play Livra vs Nor, sell Azpi before GW13 and get James, TAA or Reguilon

    2) Azpi to James but would probably mean I won't be playing Livra vs Nor then and have double Che def for some longer period

Currently on 1) as GW12 looks great for Livra and by GW13, Reguilon may be a good option considering Conte and their fixtures

Bench one, play the rest. Who gets kicked out?

    A: cancelo (united away)

    Easy roll on FT, right?

Feel's wrong to bench Cancelo but who is he replacing here?

    Ramsdale
    TAA - Chilly - James
    Salah - Foden - Raph - ESR
    Vardy - Firmino - Toney

    Foster - Cancelo - Livra - Brownhill

He's not replacing anyone - you've got to bench him.

  8. Gabbiadini

Only 3 transfers away from this 4 premium squad. Would be very unlikely to do so, however, it is intriguing nonetheless.

    Ramsdale
    TAA | Cancelo | James | Livramento
    Salah | Son* | Mbeumo
    Ronaldo | Vardy | Broja*

    Steele | 3.9* | Allan | Brownhill

    Jiménez to Broja
    Raphinha to Son
    Duffy to 3.9

I would consider this a gw15 concept as I wouldn't be content to trade either of Jiménez or Raphinha before then.

I think if this was to be remotely viable it would require a better 5th defender or 4th midfielder and evidently a fit + starting Broja.
The team value of this side is 102.8. So had you generated more funds a stronger 12th playing option may be achievable, thoughts?

    1. Goonsquad245
      • 8 Years
      2 years, 5 months ago

You don't need Ronaldo or Vardy. Get rid of one or both.

      1. Gabbiadini
        • 6 Years
        2 years, 5 months ago

I have posted this re the 4 premium setup, possibly you misinterpreted the above.
I already have both, as I stated and also acknowledged this would likely be a gw15 concept. I for sure want Ronaldo.

        1. Goonsquad245
          • 8 Years
          2 years, 5 months ago

OK - I think a 4 premium set-up is unbalanced, as it results in you needing to start players like Livramento/Broja/even Mbeumo every week with limited to no flexibility.

Particularly with Salah looking like perma-cap material until Xmas, there's just no need IMO.

    2. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 14 Years
      2 years, 5 months ago

Cutting your cloth very, very thinly with Broja starting every week + no bench...

I think Antonio will keep pace with Vardy & Auba/Vardy will keep pace with Ronaldo - or to put it another way, I just don't see Vardy & Ronaldo being worth 4.5 more than Antonio or Auba... and there is a long queue of 8.0 strikers ready to step in when Antonio get injured - Bamford, DCL, Jimmy, Wilson etc etc

Would also want to have at a minimum a good first sub with points potential (Livra or a 4.5 def ideally) and a decent second sub - dead third sub is ok, but even coming into the christmas schedule having a brownhill or a Mcarthur there as third sub won't be a bad thing either

Overall, It's not for me I'm afraid Clive, not for me at all - one of these teams which is just stretching way too far in one direction

      1. Gabbiadini
        • 6 Years
        2 years, 5 months ago

Yes. I understand the point that value for money they are not worth 4.5 more but we have seen a lot of cheap and affordable players perform very well and thus $ is there to spend.
Thus I do not look upon this difference between premium prices so strictly as the exact price, if that makes sense.

        1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
          • 14 Years
          2 years, 5 months ago

I think it needs an extra 1.5 to turn Broja into an ESR or a Gallagher, and upgrade the 3.9 bench defender to a 4.5-ish player who will get 90 minutes and can also chip in with the odd 6-8 pointer

I think it *starts* to become more viable that way

But - it still leads to the situation where 23.0 is consumed by two forwards (Vardy & Ronaldo) who will deliver equivalent points as pretty much any 18.5 combination (Antonio/Jimmy/Bamford/DCL/Wilson + one of Auba/Vardy)

It's an awful lot of bananas to plough into two forward positions, and isn't even resulting in something that looks much more dangerous that the much cheaper alternative

      Intriguing concept

Going that way I might lose Cancelo before Duffy and upgrade Broja to Hwang. Cancelo has immense potential but his attacking returns at PL level this season and last are fairly puny - it only gets scary if you check CL form. As it is you’re quite possibly committing to 10 men.

Vardy to Auba more rational perhaps.

I want at least one - even just one - red hot performance from Spurs before I even consider dropping nearly 25.0 on two of their players, no matter who they are

If they go out & smash everton 4-0 - then fair enough, it's probably go-time

But watch people's balls shrink when that game ends up 0-0 or Leeds restrict them to a single goal (or less) in GW12

Looking at my squad now after planning transfers for around 6 game weeks - it honestly now nearly looks like a ‘set and forget’ squad. Key men in their sides.
Pondering a Chelsea treble up few game weeks and keeping Antonio (bench). or getting Hwang and TAA.

Already got Son for this gameweek.

    Sanchez (Steele)
    -
    James-Rudiger-Duffy-Livramento (Cancelo)
    -
    Salah-Son-Mbeumo-ESR-Raphinha
    -
    Vardy-Toney(Antonio)

All the hype over Conte and Spurs is massively out of perspective. Whilst Son has been decent, Kane is one of the worst performing forwards year to date on FPL. With the exception of Son and a Kane in form, and maybe the other odd player, it is an abysmal Spurs side, which is why I suspect Kane wants out.

Everyone in the "know/fpl community" is fixating on Kane for GW12 and then flipping to Ronaldo and in all fairness the fixtures for each are good, with Ronaldo's form being much better. However, as usual, Vardy way overlooked and with the exception of Chelsea in GW12, Leicester's fixtures are great until GW19.

past performance is not an indication of future returns...gamble responsibly!

I guess the point of FPL is to bring in players we think will score points for our teams in future regardless of what they've done to date.

It's possible Kane was sulking based on Levy not allowing him to leave, if he continues this form other suitors might get turned off him so it's in his best interest to start performing. Wing back system should help them.

Might not be instant, but their attack can't get any worse than it is right now.

Spurs have a good squad on paper, probably a top 6 squad which means they should beat most teams in the division. Kane is off form, but has proven over the last 7 seasons that he's quality and this loss of form is more likely due to the summer disruption with the City move. They also have a great run. Even under Nuno, the next 5 games would have been a great run - Everton, Burnley away are both winnable, Leeds, Brentford, Norwich home again are all
-winnable. They could come out of this run in 3rd or 4th. I do agree with you about Vardy though, GW13-16 looks great, he's 31% owned though so certainly not overlooked. Kane by contrast is 6.5% owned.

With Foster&Raya GK is the only problem atm.

    A. Solved the problem now Raya to Sanchez.
    B. Save FT, better have 2FT at IB.

Exact fund to do Havertz -> Son. Do it before this GW or roll FT and hope Son don't rise?

I would do it now. Everton's defence isn't looking the best anyway

If you roll FT you can still make the Son move by downgrading another spot by 0.1m no?
