Captains

Who is the best captain for FPL Gameweek 12?

Deputy Editor Tom joined Scoutcast regular Joe earlier today to look at the best captaincy candidates for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) in Gameweek 12.

You can watch the video either embedded in this article below or on our YouTube channel.

A certain Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) once again looks like the leading armband option, as Liverpool host Arsenal on Saturday evening.

However, is there a case to be made for Tottenham Hotspur duo Son Heung-min (£10.3m) and Harry Kane (£12.2m), especially given the latter’s fine form for England during the international break?

In our video, we also discuss some of the less considered options, such as Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.4m) – who arguably has the most appealing fixture of the round, Michail Antonio (£8.2m), Phil Foden (£8.3m) and Joao Cancelo (£6.5m).

You can cast your vote on the widget of our home page, and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get notified of future episodes.

Don’t forget to check back for our Captain Sensible article later in the week, which will delve into even more detail on the main runners and riders.

Vardy very close to a drop tonight FYI

    -95 on fplstats

Will probably survive but worth nothing if like me priced out of moves if he falls

WC team, just hear me out..

    Sanchez ¦ Steele
    TAA* Cancelo James Reguilon Livramento
    Salah Son* Raphinha* Gallagher ESR
    Vardy* Hwang* Davis

    Structure is loosely based so it can afford the following moves;

    GW 14 : Hwang -> Dennis/Broja/Origi
GW 15 : TAA, Vardy -> Shaw, Ronaldo
    GW 16 : Son -> Bruno
    GW 17 : Raphinha out.

    What do you think?

You'd really triple up on MU assets? Even with that fixture run from GW16 I can see a lot of people not going near Ronaldo if OGS is still there (and especially if players from teams with new managers improve enough).

Been totally out of touch. Have this team with 1FT and 0.4 ITB. Was thinking of Christensen to Reg. Right move or should I look at something else?

    Steele
    TAA Rudi Cancelo Christensen
    Salah Son Gallagher Mbeumo
    Ronaldo Antonio

Worth considering Hwang/Jim for GWs 13-14 or you wouldn't bother and rather plan longer term moves ?

I have jimi and holding till Burnley then off. Wilson is a better bet for next 4 in my opinion. Jimi a hold but not sure I’d buy him in this week anyway.

Wanting to move out Benrahma (6.2m), and am looking for a replacement. I have 1.9m ITB.

Who would be your pick as replacement?

It depends on whether you want to save money ITB to upgrade elsewhere (Ie Son or Kane).

If money is no issue then I would probably go with Jota.

Not sure on the legitimacy of this but I'll post anyway:

    https://mobile.twitter.com/fpl_tactician/status/1460647533714231303

    Andy Martin:
"I have it on good authority that Kane will be rising in price tonight even though he’s nowhere near on the price prediction sites."

If this ends up being true I wonder if it's similar to that occasion when Son rose on a night where his price was nowhere close to doing so, think I read it was to do with wildcards in an IB fudging the system and tracking a bit so that the stats were completely off

    Jimenez Antonio

    Foster Vardy Livramento Brownhill

    2 FT, 0.0 itb

    GW12 options:

    1. Vardy Brownhill >> Son + Davis (would be 3rd on bench)
    2. Vardy Brownhill >> Jota Wilson
    3. Vardy Foden >> Kane Gallagher

With 1. I could work in Jota in GW13 next week if required by doing Mbeumo Jimenez >> Jota Hwang (-4), or I could just do Mbeumo >> Gallagher

Lovely team mate!! I think me and you play the game very similar, I remember our teams in the summer before gameweek one our teams were near identical and they are pretty similar now too, I like the Jota and Wilson move there

I recall the same mate very similar in selection and strategy

I think I’m actually edging towards 1 purely because 2 gives such a bench headache to which Wilson would be a factor of… although Spurs are yet to click I like the fixture this week and I can always work Jota in next week if required

        Thanks mate

Yeah definitely mate!! Good idea!! I like that move too, I thinking Toney and Mbeumo to Jota and a 4.5 forward next week for exactly the reason of a bench headache every week like I have at the moment, 27 points on the bench last week was so annoying!! Haha best of luck mate!!!

Yeah out of the 2 Chelsea defenders James would be my pick, just thinking if Spurs start picking up more clean sheets then their full-backs could match Chilwell for value.

Sticking with both for the foreseeable. Conte will have to bridge a huge gulf before I even start thinking of Spurs defenders on the same level. For me, (sacrilege?) James & Chilwell are more or less on par with Trent

Yes I can but that rules out getting Kane for -4 next week if I want to. I want to leave that option open.

    Why are people losing Raphinia?

Same as always, there's a new bright shiny object they want. In this case Jota or Son.

Don't know about everyone else, but for me it's mainly because I don't think he can keep carrying the attacking side of Leeds alone, he needs the likes of Bamford back and Harrison and James to pick up form to ease the burden. No matter how well he plays his ceiling is fairly low (especially when at best Leeds score 1-2 goals) and I think the next few fixtures will be a bit tougher. I'll definitely get him back in a few weeks but there are other options I prefer right now

Basically, Leeds' injuries & fixtures. I really rate him though & will bring him back at some point I think

So, WC team just about sorted, bearing in mind I like a deep bench.

    McCarthy (Foster)
    TAA Cancelo Reggie James (Livra)
Salah Jota Foden Gallagher (Jimmy Mac)
    Kane Antonio (Dennis)

    Final question would be...
a/ James, Antonio & McArthur in a 442 as above
    or
    b/ Mitchell, Wilson & Bowen in a 352

    0.2ITB in each case.
    Many thanks

I don't suppose there is a consensus on this site about the Kane vs Son choice is there?

It really is as broad as it is long. The key will be who they get paired with (Son + Fwd or Kane + Mid).
I don't think there will be much between them at the end of their decent run.

Think Kane if I had the choice as there appear so may midfield options to compete with Son but Kane enables a later move to premium striker and who else is there?
