Deputy Editor Tom joined Scoutcast regular Joe earlier today to look at the best captaincy candidates for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) in Gameweek 12.

You can watch the video either embedded in this article below or on our YouTube channel.

A certain Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) once again looks like the leading armband option, as Liverpool host Arsenal on Saturday evening.

However, is there a case to be made for Tottenham Hotspur duo Son Heung-min (£10.3m) and Harry Kane (£12.2m), especially given the latter’s fine form for England during the international break?

In our video, we also discuss some of the less considered options, such as Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.4m) – who arguably has the most appealing fixture of the round, Michail Antonio (£8.2m), Phil Foden (£8.3m) and Joao Cancelo (£6.5m).

You can cast your vote on the widget of our home page, and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get notified of future episodes.

Don’t forget to check back for our Captain Sensible article later in the week, which will delve into even more detail on the main runners and riders.

    Ramsdale
    TAA Cancelo James Chilwell
    Salah Foden Raphinha Mbeumo
    Jimenez Antonio

    Foster Vardy Livramento Brownhill

    2 FT, 0.0 itb

    GW12 options:

    1. Vardy Brownhill >> Son + Davis (would be 3rd on bench)
    2. Vardy Brownhill >> Jota Wilson
    3. Vardy Foden >> Kane Gallagher

With 1. I could work in Jota in GW13 next week if required by doing Mbeumo Jimenez >> Jota Hwang (-4), or I could just do Mbeumo >> Gallagher

    Thanks.

We lost the match against France, no Pukki party, but all our fans are shouting thx to the national team. Still, after ten minutes losing the match. Something has changed.

Arsenal is in form and Firmino, Robbo and Mane are out. Spurs are still unknown. I like upside chasing but plan to do that transfer next week for free.

    Mind made up.

    Not switching Vardy to kane.

    Rolling a transfer.

No point soaking up funds to bring in a guy who's done nothing so far.

Salah is captain at home to Southampton next week as well.

Cancelo is able to assist, but his shots were soft last season. So he isn't going to match xG imo. Yet according to my limited eye test he has improved in that area, but probably not enough. This is marathon, not a sprint, no need to bet against Salah yet.

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 7 Years

Only choosing from the options given, hence the one with the best fixture, form, stats, and playing for the best attack, of the three

          I'll still cap Salah

      2. Ze_Austin
        • 7 Years
        4 years, 21 days ago

Cancelo is joint top with Salah and two others for shots in the last 4 GWs

Everton has conceded the most big chances across the league in the last 4 GWs. That's ahead of Norwich, Newcastle, etc, and Everton's last 4 opponents haven't been on City's level

That team is in its sunken place, and face City next at the Etihad, after City's dropped points

Except if some beautiful miracle occurs, or many goals get ruled out for marginal stuff again, or another early red... This could easily be a mauling. Similar signs Man U showed before Salah tore them to shreds

    3. Ze_Austin

      Foden, for a few reasons:

      1. Foden is surprisingly more nailed, with no real threat to his spot in the team so far this season
      2. Foden is more likely to assist, and almost as likely to score (Jota wins on xG, but isn't the most clinical finisher)
      3. Foden goes well with Cancelo and Jesus, and I'm uninterested in other City assets, while Salah + TAA + Tsimikas can match Jota, until Johnson comes in for GW16+, if nailed over Coufal. That's, err, very cheap. Depends on Robbo's prognosis, of course
      4. I might someday be tempted by Foden cap over Salah. This is my least likely reason on the list though

Just answering the question. This is why I'd rather own Foden

Same here, can't understand why everyone - round here anyway - seems to be jumoing on Kane though.

No interest in Wilson? I find myself considering Jebus for some reason.

Part of it is that so many have a Vardy problem, creating a need for a replacement. And then they convince those who don't have a Vardy problem that Kane is the solution even if you don't have a problem.

Crisis Management Group needed! By a horrendous mistake I confirmed five (!) transfers and am looking at a whopping minus 16. Now leaning towards activating my Free Hit to avoid that Quintuple Hit. Never did a free hit like this before… So do I now
    A) Play around and take some chances for one week only
    B) Use the Free Hit to more or less reconstruct my original team, which I was actually quite happy with?

    Team was:
    Sanchez/Steele
    TAA/Cancelo/Chilwell/James/Livra
    Salah/Gallagher/Raph/Saka/Gilmour
    Vardy/Antonio/Jimi

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place, and I don't care how tough you are... it will beat you to your knees and keep you there if you let it. You, me or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit... and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!

Assuming they were reasonable moves and not Mo to Tom Cleverley type things, I'd just carry on.
Free hit worth more if you play it properly later.
If you are decided, thenFH back to team you had seem sub-optimal; just go for all the highest ceiling players you can squeeze in.

Thanks! Semi-reasonable moves, I was tired of strikers not producing, and just trying to see how low I had to go upfront to really stack my midfield. So I did Raph/Saka/Gilmour to Son/Jota/Cornet and then Vardy to Wilson and Jimi to Cam Archer. I will just face the music and dance, one way or another. Appreciate both the wisdom and the advice, btw!

At a complete loss what to do with this lot and any suggestions muchly appreciated:

    Sanchez Steele
Taa Emerson Royal Semedo White Chalobah
    Salah Mount Esr Gray McArthur
    Ronaldo Vardy Edouard

Not sure whether to take a big points hit and reconstruct by getting Cancelo, James, Kane, Gallagher or hold.

Looked like you had about 17 players.
