Deputy Editor Tom joined Scoutcast regular Joe earlier today to look at the best captaincy candidates for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) in Gameweek 12.

You can watch the video either embedded in this article below or on our YouTube channel.

A certain Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) once again looks like the leading armband option, as Liverpool host Arsenal on Saturday evening.

However, is there a case to be made for Tottenham Hotspur duo Son Heung-min (£10.3m) and Harry Kane (£12.2m), especially given the latter’s fine form for England during the international break?

In our video, we also discuss some of the less considered options, such as Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.4m) – who arguably has the most appealing fixture of the round, Michail Antonio (£8.2m), Phil Foden (£8.3m) and Joao Cancelo (£6.5m).

You can cast your vote on the widget of our home page, and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get notified of future episodes.

Don’t forget to check back for our Captain Sensible article later in the week, which will delve into even more detail on the main runners and riders.

Livra starts. He's not in this conversation

Close call between Raph and Jim. Raph's facing a more leaky defence and has all set-pieces bar penalties. Jim faces a tougher defence and has only penalties

Looking at the drop in frequency of pens this season, compared with set pieces still going strong (Raph's scored twice or more from those already), then greater Raph chances from open play vs a worse defence... I'd bench Jim and accept a haul as a bad beat, start vs Norwich anyway

        Bench Vardy? Why?

        2 week rest
        At home
        Prolific goal scorer
Does well against big 6 sides (more chance for counter attack)

        Doesn't make sense to me!

Err... Is Son Foden Gallagher completely impossible?

My top mids atm are Salah > Foden > Gallagher > Son, then Raph and ESR follow closely, but I'm put off by their schedules

I'd like to remind those excited by Kane that he's scored a hat trick for Spurs this season, playing for just 31 minutes: https://bit.ly/3clttzW

30/9/21: Europa Conference League, vs NS Mura, still coached by Nuno. He also got a brace in August (no curse), in a qualifying round vs Paços Ferreira

IIRC, there was the hope then that the quick hat trick vs easy opponents translate into league form based on confidence. Here we are, 2.5 months later. There is clearly something wrong, but I'm not sure it's as simple as finishing ability or confidence

Vardys sale value for me is 12.7... but he's value is 12.8. If he falls in value tonight does that mean he stays at 12.7 in my team or 12.6 after the fall? Still can't get a full understanding of how it works.

    1. More Cowbell

Sorry. It depends what you bought him for. I assumed you got him for 12.6. But if you bought for 12.7 then no loss.

Depends whether you bought him for 12.6 or 12.5. If 12.5 then you lose value.

Shame you had to pay an extra 2m for him.

    5. Ze_Austin
      • 7 Years
      4 years, 21 days ago

It's based on how much you got him for

Sale value increases by 0.1m for every 0.2m increase in price

      So, if you bought at 10.5m, you'd still sell at 10.5m if he's at 10.6m. But you'd sell at 10.6m if he's at 10.7m... 10.6m still if he's 10.8m, then 10.7m if he's 10.9m, etc

On the other hand... If you bought at 10.5m and choose to sell after a drop or more, you'll only get his current value

Does any Palace fans know whats happened with Milivojevic? I hopped off Gallagher 2GWs ago for Foden due to Mili's presence in the team and now Gallagher's exploded with Mili out of the team. We should expect him to return to the side correct?

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 7 Years

He was on the bench for the last two, meaning was most likely dropped, not injured

Palace won those two, meaning he doesn't need to come back in, as dropping him was a winning decision

They haven't won an EPL game he's played in under Viera, and fans were calling for his head before he was dropped

It's not the kind of thing you recover from after an international break. Seems he'd have to claw his way back in. All signs I see point to "out of favour under new coach"

Cheers mate. I understood the decision to bring in Kouyate for the City game as he can drop in and be a 3rd CB in transition, but was surprised to see him back for the Wolves game as well. Has Kouyate played well? From the games I've seen, it hasnt been Milivojevic's fault that theyve dropped points after so close to wins, especially the Arsenal and Newcastle game

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 7 Years

We usually focus a lot in FPL on how players break into their sides, but not much is said about the way players are eased out (Mark Noble, for instance)

I think a new coach who's found a winning team is unlikely to change it without having his hand forced by injury or suspension. This is just a guess, of course, but it may have more to do with stuff the cameras don't show us. Maybe in stats? That's too deep a dive for me to take now 😀

Still, I didn't watch either match. Let's see if someone else reading this has a word on their pitch performance (Kouyaté vs Milivojevic)

Fwiw, Kouyaté got 2 bonus points while misclassified as a defender in the last game, so he's probably doing *something* right...

Happy with my team, but really want to get Vardy out and invest into midfield, - 1.0m ITB, 2FT

    Pick one:
    1) Vardy + Mbuemo + Normann --> Davis + Jota + Foden (3-5-2)
    2) Vardy + Mbuemo + Norman —> Armstrong/Hwang + Foden + Jota
    3) Raphinha —> Jota and Roll FT

Basically weighing up whether to go for a stronger bench with Armstrong/Hwang or to keep more in the bank for further weeks

    Rest:
    Ramsdale
    TAA / Cancelo / Chillwell
    Salah / Son / Mbuemo / Raphinha
    Antonio / Toney / Vardy

    Foster, Livramento, Normann, Obamadele..
