The minutes played by FPL players over the November international break

The final international break of 2021 reached its conclusion in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Over 200 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) assets were in action for their countries over the last week and there will be inevitable repercussions in Gameweek 12, given the impact on starting XIs immediately after the September and October international breaks.

Our Team News tab and our Friday press conference round-up (in both article and video form) will cover everything on the fitness front but it is fatigue we’re focusing more on in this article as we look at how many minutes each FPL asset clocked up while on international duty.

How much ‘tiredness’ will be a factor in Gameweek 12 is open to debate, as the triple-headers of earlier international breaks are now mostly a thing of the past and juggling two games in a week comes second nature to many Premier League players. With 10 Gameweeks now to come in the space of 40 days, however, any national team game-time going into this period may come into top-flight managers’ medium-term thinking when weighing up whether or not a player needs a breather.

As well as on-field exertions, long-haul flights back from further afield may be a consideration ahead of the weekend – although much less so than in October, when South American nations were in action on the Friday morning before Gameweek 8.

Indeed, Brazil and Argentina were instead facing off late on Tuesday evening this time, given the Premier League representatives in question additional days to make their way back to the UK and recuperate.

Raul Jimenez (£7.7m) was the last notable FPL name in action, representing Mexico in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

MOST MINUTES PLAYED OVER THE NOVEMBER INTERNATIONAL BREAK

A trio of academy products – Carney Chukwuemeka, Dane Scarlett and Aaron Ramsey – were the only ‘active’ FPL assets who logged more than three hours of pitch-time, thanks to England under-19s having three fixtures over the last week.

Onto more significant names and there were 42 players who lasted 180 minutes across their respective nations’ matches, including Shane Duffy, Cristiano Ronaldo, Jimenez, Ismaila Sarr, Aymeric Laporte and Andreas Christensen.

Son Heung-min, Kevin De Bruyne and Hwang Hee-chan were only a little further back on 178, 173 and 172 minutes respectively.

Happily, many of the most popular Fantasy picks had a relatively easy ride. Of the 15 highest-owned assets in FPL, only Duffy and Ronaldo started more than one game for their homeland in the November international window.

CLUB-BY-CLUB ROUND-UP

The team-by-team guide below breaks down the minutes that each player has played per international match over the last week or so, with a total given at the end.

The players listed exclude those who withdrew from their national team squads without kicking a ball but include those who played at least one match before picking up an injury or illness or dropped out for personal reasons. The latter group of players are marked with an asterisk.

As mentioned earlier, we’ll have further details on any lingering fitness concerns in our pre-Gameweek 12 team news round-up on Friday.

Doesnt quite look worth it to me. A is strong as is & you've mainly just improved your bench. But depends on when else you might use it - I guess most of us arent so excited about targeting Man Utd fixture swing atm

Looks like a decent WC team! I'd perhaps look for alternatives to Benrahma. Gallagher or Bowen if you still want a WHM midfielder perhaps?

Yeah only kept him as I support them and think he will get the chance up top if/when Antonio is rested.

Gallagher a great shout though as it frees up another 0.5m

Definitely some worthwhile changes there (Cancelo, Son, Wilson & bench improvements). I would probably shift Benrahma & Raphinha also due to fixtures. Maybe to Jota & Gallagher?

I love Raph (Leeds fan) but fixtures are turning worse & he's totally carrying the team with current injuries. Will look to bring him back in later in season

With A there's no benching headache, 3-4-3. Livra, Brownhill & 3.9 as bench.
With B there's a benching headache every week. One of James/Chilwell/Hwang/Wilson to be benched every week.

Not a Jota fan. Kane form will return very soon. Actually a big fan of a skimpy playing bench, but like James, can go back to 3.9 defender soon.

Vardy & Dias to Kane & James is also an option - saving the -4 too.

    Morning chaps.

Quick one. Exact money for this.

    GW12: Marcal & Antonio to Regulion & Armstrong -4

    GW13: Sarr to Jota

    Yes or no?

    Team after these transfers

    Sanchez
    TAA, Chilwell, Regulion, Livra, Duffy
    Salah, Foden, Jota, Gallagher, ESR
    Kane, Jimenez, Armstrong

Ramsdale. I think Villa are gonna bounce from Gerrard's appointment. Ramsdale will get at least 3 saves and if Liverpool have an off-day/decimated by injuries could even sneak a CS.

Just cant seem to decide between the following till gw16

    A: Son + Wilson + Jota (-4)
    B: Son + Toney + Jota
    C: Mbeumo + Kane + Jota
    D: Kane + Mbeumo + Wilson

Leaning towards C if i want Kane (c) in gw14/15. However, it leaves no funds leftover i.e. no exit route for Mbeumo till gw16 (and livramento doesnt have great fix too if i wanted to bench mbeumo)

James is sensible AND exciting, Regulion is more speculative so risky and broadly exciting. I say James because we need to see more from Spurs under Conte

Reece by miles. He has been incredible recently, dont know how you could watch Chelsea without owning him. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he outscores Trent this season and/or next

  12. GreennRed

Jota appeal is purely down to Firmino's absence. He's nowhere near the class of Mane or Salah, needs too many chances before he scores in comparison to both.

He can improve but Smith Rowe, Bowen, Gallagher, Trossard and Raphinha, on current form, are better picks than him.

on current form I would argue its mane who has been most profligate this season in terms of chance conversion and even in parts of last compared to jota

This is really helpful Greennred, as I'm looking to replace Mount, and whilst Jota is obvious, all those other names are in my mind, with Trossard where I'm leaning due to differential potential. So thank you for this

Honestly, I agree with you & yet I'm still (almost certainly) going to buy him this week. He's not an elite Salah-type for sure, maybe not even that great a finisher. But in this Liverpool team he can easily brace while still not impressing all that much (see Firmino's high xG hattie for example). Simply put, he will get easy chances (hence the superb xG stats) and will now get the mins for quite a while due to injuries, fixture congestion, then AFCON

On the basis of very little thought or research I'm considering

    Jimenez>Wilson
    Mbuemo>Jota

    Good/bad/indifferent?

Need 0.1m to fund the Jota move, Jimenez possibly could be rested after the internationals so thought he was the best bet.

    Will give me:
    Ram/Foster
    James/TAA/Cancelo/Dias/Livra
    Salah/Jota/Raph/Foden/Brownhill
    Vardy/Wilson/Broja

    Thanks 🙂

I'm considering Mount to Jota (despite the comments I've seen about Jota, including the one above), but also feel I'm lacking a differential, which you would gain with Wilson, which is why I like that move (I'm assuming Broja is gonna mostly be on the fence).

Yes Broja is basically bench fodder unless he starts playing/scoring consistently. I need to do a proper bit of research really, maybe I am only considering Jota because of the attraction of him being a Liverpool attacker....

I like it. The only downside is missing out on Jimi's fixtures vs Norwich & Burnley, so I might consider alternative sales to raise the Jota money (Raph/Vardy/Dias maybe?)

its a really interesting question to ask if gerrard has taken a step up or step down..gers are my second team and I would always say they are a bigger club than villa in terms of their success, global brand and the fact they are involved in one of the most well known games on the planet but they arent in the premier league. so is that enough to immediately elevate them ? are brentford or norwich bigger than Rangers for that reason?

I think which club is bigger is less important than which club will further help Gerrard fulfil his managerial ambitions. That club would be Villa over Rangers IMO. He wants the Liverpool job so experience in the league is almost essential

      1. boc610
        • 12 Years
        2 years, 4 months ago

true but villa most likely wont touch europe though unless he really works wonders and thats less likely now with toons new ownership. Graham potter probably gained most of his experience playing in europe with Ostersunf and looks a natural in the prem now.

    2. @persecuted_by_mods
        2 years, 4 months ago

Rangers and villa are both big clubs, the premier league however is the big league

its the big league-the biggest id say now- but what has someone like daniel farke leaned from getting beaten over and over while playing in it? I just think its simplistic to say 'im in the prem therefore this is the best school to learn my trade'. Liverpool play a particular way and he will know he will have to try and adopt that at villa in order to make the step up. another season or two in the SPL and the europa league getting rangers to play that way could have been more beneficial

You're grouping Villa with Brentford and Norwich when Villa are a tier above. Villa are competing in that 8th-12th position in the league

Gerrard turned down a chance to take Rangers into next years Champions League but apparently the board weren't giving him many funds? Surely if they won SPL they could speculate and CL exposure would help them grow the brand. Themselves and Celtic are hanstrung by being the best clubs in a poor standard league in comparison to PL. Maybe Gerrard just wants the challenge of a Villa job with improved prospects if being Pool manager some day.

If Rangers (or celtic) were in the PL they would both be much bigger than Villa. Fan base is unreal.

You get about 3m for winning the Spl and between 100m - 150m in the Epl depending where you finish.

All my outfield starting players are at least 12.8% owned, and many are in the 20%s.

My FT plan for this week is to move Mount out, and whilst I could go for Jota (12.8%) or Gallagher (16.4%), I think I want/need a differential, so Trossard (2.6%) is who I'm leaning towards.

Any of arguments for or against would be gratefully received. Thank you in advance

Play Vardy (CHE) or Livra (nor)?

Will have James and Chilwell vs Vardy too

Livra is quite easy choice imo. CS probability is higher than Vardy to score and Livra is more likely to get baps. He has also attacking threat. Naturally Vardy could brace, everything is possible, but I believe it's quite unlikely.

              Bookies odds:
              Vardy to score 3.55
              Livra cs 2.88

Cheers - a benched Vardy goal would cost me 12 points before any bonus were considered but on the balance of probability Livra is the better option
