Brighton v Leeds team news: Raphinha returns as Duffy is benched

Brighton and Hove Albion take on Leeds United in the final Premier League match of the day, with two of the three most-owned Fantasy Premier League (FPL) assets on show back from injury and suspension – and the other one benched.

Kick-off at the Amex Stadium is at 17:30 GMT.

Robert Sanchez is back between the posts for the hosts after serving a one-game suspension in Gameweek 12, replacing Jason Steele.

Shane Duffy is a substitute for only the second time this season, however, with Joel Veltman recalled at the expense of the Irishman.

Neal Maupay for Adam Lallana is Graham Potter’s other alteration, while Enock Mwepu is back on the bench after recovering from a muscle injury.

Any notable Fantasy interest in Leeds players is restricted to Raphinha, who sits in around one in five FPL squads and in over 50% of the top 10,000 managers’ teams.

He and Rodrigo replace Joe Gelhardt and Mateusz Klich in Marcelo Bielsa’s starting XI, while Junior Firpo is in for Pascal Struijk at left-back.

GAMEWEEK 13 LINE-UPS

Brighton and Hove Albion XI: Sanchez, Dunk, Webster, Veltman, Cucurella, Lamptey, Bissouma, Moder, Gross, Trossard, Maupay.

Subs: Steele, Mac Allister, Mwepu, Lallana, March, Duffy, Locadia, Richards, Sarmiento.

Leeds United XI: Meslier, Llorente, Cooper, Firpo, Dallas, Forshaw, Phillips, Harrison, James, Raphinha, Rodrigo.

Subs: Klaesson, Roberts, Struijk, Gelhardt, Cresswell, Klich, McCarron, Shackleton, Jenkins.

    Jota for Zaha for 1FT?

Not impressed by Zaha over 2 latest GWs

Possibly but you brought Zaha in after he scored two games in a row... Now you wanna get rid after two blanks in a row... Hmmm

        I know...

But 3 goals vs Brentford and no return.
        Weak today...

Leeds up next will probably be 2 pointer
        Utd 1 or 2 pointer

Duffy benching not ideal. Time to move him on? Which defender under £4.3?

Annoyingly, no good options I can see. Gonna wait at least one gameweek so I have the option to upgrade with 2FT or downgrade to Williams if he continues to look good value at 3.9

Don't quote me on this, but I think it was a tactical benching to counter Leeds' style of play?

I had a choice earlier in the week. Livramnto + Foden > Regiulon + Jota or Livramento + Antonio to Chilwell + Dennis

Opted for the latter. Daaaaaamn, son!

I Guess Chilwell out needs to be addressed first. Might as well punt on Alonso. Foden/Raph also possibly addressed. Leeds looked toothless up top today, it was bleak. Foden probably not risked, and rotation an issue so he can possibly make way for Jota. Rph fixtures ok, even with the toothless attack

Keep it simple and get Chilwell + Foden > Alonso and Jota?

Tried to have it all last week and so far, not ideal!

Is there any article or classic pod where people clearly spell out exactly what they mean by "Judge the decision, not the outcome" in FPL?

People say this all the time, but then once the games occur, everyone who got a good outcome is congratulating themselves and everyone who got a bad outcome is convinced they made a bad decision.

I’ve never seen that but I’d guess it’s about asking yourself if you made the right decision with the information available at the time - often that can be the case but points wise it doesn’t work out anyway. I guess maybe aimed at making people feel better when things go wrong?

      1. FPL Theorist
        • 4 Years

They say it a lot on BlackBox and Seb also says it a lot on Scoutcast. But it's rare that someone will continue to strongly defend a decision they made after it had a bad outcome, even for one week -- unless it was an act of collective stubbornness by the majority of the community (like holding Mbeumo/Toney seemingly forever).

If people just said they were holding Brentford assets for Everton, I wouldn't be so critical, but plenty seem to be holding them indefinitely with no plan to ever get rid.

I think it’s just human nature to give yourself credit than you should when a move comes off even if a large part of it was luck

Plenty of delusional people in the fpl community who think their sir alex after making a couple of ft’s

    4. EffPeeEll
      • 4 Years

Simplified it means that you justified the changes, or stayed put, having carefully considered the reasoning behind your decision.

If it doesn't pan out as expected you can accept it as just unlucky in a sense and not because you randomly made changes to your team or chose to leave it alone.

In essence, you make your bed as tidy as you can make it and then happily lay in it.

      1. FPL Theorist
        • 4 Years

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought it should mean.

Was just wondering if others were interpreting it differently, since so many get convinced they acted wrongly and were not just unlucky after a bad outcome. People only seem to blame luck if, for example, the GK made a howler and let a goal in that should have been saved.

I think Foden starts or is not involved at all given Peps comments about not taking any risks, If it’s the latter I’d keep, two good fixtures after West Ham for City!! Can you get Jota in any other way mate??! Even for a hit he will be worth it IMO

So even if plays and blanks, or doesn’t play at all, would you keep or move to Jota?

I could bring in for -4 if I do Raph Jimi >> Jota ASM, or Gallagher Jimi >> Jota Hwang ??

Tricky one mate, I’d be inclined to keep but I can seen an argument to move him to Jota too, as of those two moves I’d do the Gallagher and Jimmy one, Raphinha has two nice home games next and then you can move him down to Gallagher after that or even Bowen

Think I’m leaning on keep, it’s the sensible approach

The -4 route with Hwang is risky, he has a tough run coming up… as does Jimenez.

Think I’ll just need to hide behind a sofa for Jota v (eve) haha

Cheers, it was either him or Foden to Jota next week, I think Saka hobbling off, and Arsenal doing well, but not ripping apart teams might sway it for me.

Feel happy in my decision to captain Trent over Salah, however, not owning Jota Ramsdale and taking -4 and I’m down 20% or 100k rank so far.
    Hopefully Kane can do something

Definitely didn’t consider Jota this week as I already took a -4
        Interesting only one bonus point

He wasn’t on my immediate plans to bring in and hoping to just roll ft given short turnaround times coming up

He actually was a bit of a donkey apart from the tap-ins. Not just him, loads of overhit passes in the Saints area by Liverpool, Mane was a specific culprit as well.
If they were on it, I assume it's probably been said but it could have been a really enormous battering (9-0)

Well I guess i'm saying he scored well but played pretty shaat, but nonetheless I wish I'd picked him because points are points.

If I were you I'd go for it, I won't personally. Because I've already got in the Raphina boat, for worse and for worse and til death do us part

Ill probably hold mate, if Foden doesn’t play tomorrow then will wait and see if he is fit for midweek… if a doubt again then maybe >> Jota is the right move but if fit then it’s probably a bit sideways and risky

I’m in the raphinha boat too, we probably need to hold for the next 2 home games at least

I couldn’t work him in without a hit either and similar situation to you had already needed to take a hit for other moves

Literally in the exact same position regarding all players. Jota (and Ramsdale) not getting bonus helps, and not a huge jump on Salah captainers with TAA but it all helps. I really could do with Foden turning up tomorrow though as if Allan is out I'll be getting in a big fat 0 for Livramento

We need a big one from Foden, reckon he starts?

I think he will personally, Pep's comments to be were positive and then the pictures of Foden training with the group (after he said he was doing individual training) makes it seem like he was telling porkies again to mislead people. Even if he doesn't start or play at all I won't mind if it means he's good for the midweek game

I just don't think a whipping boys strategy is working this year. You have to back the best teams this year regardless of opposition, and try to avoid mediocre teams even against poor opposition.

[Evangelio] BSAD comes out with 7 players to play the second half, and as soon as they start, Joao Monteiro (the goalkeeper who was playing as a midfielder) throws himself onto the grass, as if injured. Match is suspended, 7-0 Benfica

51, with (only) 4 to play. Up to ~40k for now.

Jota in worked well. Gallagher less so (could have gone for and played Alonso, but that'll be this week's move).

Being conservative working okay for now. Feel like I have a plan for the next few GWs, until something else happens to shift it.
