Captain Sensible

Who are the best FPL captain options for Gameweek 14?

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) looks to be the leading captain candidate once again in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), as Liverpool travel to Goodison Park to take on their city rivals in Gameweek 14.

However, there are other options on the radar too, including Harry Kane (£12.3m), Jamie Vardy (£10.6m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.9m), who has now outscored his Egyptian team-mate in each of his last three outings.

First, we will assess the fallout of the Gameweek 14 captain poll, before then analysing the best options, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Tuesday’s 18:00 BST deadline.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

Mohamed Salah is the leader of the Captain poll for the seventh consecutive Gameweek, with just over 50% of total votes from our users at the time of writing.

Second-placed Harry Kane has received 14.18% of votes ahead of his home match against Brentford, and should be raring to go having been handed a rest over the weekend.

Jamie Vardy occupies third-place with 7.66%, followed by Callum Wilson (£7.4m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold, with 4.21% and 3.83% respectively.

    How to bring Jota in?

    Sanchez Steele
    TAA James Livra Cancelo Williams
    Salah Son Raph ESR Gallagher
    Vardy Antonio Broja

    2ft .5itb
    A. Broja + Raph to Davis+Jota
    B. Son+ Williams to Jota +Rudiger
    C. Raph + Antonio to Jota +????

Also, does anyone have another site that monitors price rises/falls fpl statistics is not working, for me at least?

Probably A from that list, Raphinha's next two are nice but then are difficult.

Worth taking a punt on ASM or not at the price of losing Antonio?

I'd rule out A as Davis is a waste of squad space..

B means look in terms of strengthening the overall squad to me. Not buying the spurs hype just yet.. although it would be brave to drop Son before Bre.

C is probably the safer route.. how about King?

mbeumo + foden to gundo and bSilva for -4?

i really like the look of city attack - form and fixtures.. Foden may come back to bite me but Silva's actually returned in more games than him.. and Gundo looks on form.. would leave me with this which looks good to me..

    Ramsdale (Foster)
    Cancelo, TAA, James (Liva) (Duffy)
    Salah, Jota, BSilva, Gundo, Raphina
    Antonio, Wilson (Toney)

Too risky? Will Foden make me pay??

RP - Looking to take a hit to bring in Alonso. Who to downgrade?

    A. Duffy and Mbeumo to Alonso and Gilmour (-4)
    B. Duffy and Toney to Alonso and King (-4)

Leaning towards A since Watford/King has CHE and MCI next. I can upgrade Brownhill later when I get funds.

    1FT 1.2TB

I hear you on the fixtures for King but Gilmour is fodder.. you want a stronger bench this month so B at least helps with that. I think B for me

I agree Gilmour is fodder but he is on set pieces and creates chances. Is Mbeumo really worth 1m over Gilmour though? Mbeumo could lose his place with Wissa available again

I'm done with Mbeumo.. (see above - opinions welcomed!) so you are right there... I'm trying to go double city but at that price getting Gallagher / ESR could be an option too.. so not saying to keep him - just don't want you to weaken your bench that much.

Personally I'd say you need Jota before Alonso by the way.. drop Mbeumo for him and consider King maybe?

          1. Tonyawesome69

Actually that should be Jota instead of Foden. Did the move last GW for a hit.

I'll be looking to downgrade Kane and Toney in GW16 to release funds and sort the midfield.

Gallagher isn't appealing as an FPL option at the moment with McCarthur out, Mili taking set pieces from him and Eze/Olise could also impact his returns.

Prefer ESR over Gallagher. Seems to have the knack in getting into the box at the right time

Chase down tackle that resulted in him copping a big knock, I think to the hip area.

He hung around the bench until they subbed him as he couldnt continue. Might have just been a bad corkie

Don't think he's as big a risk as some are making out.

It is a little bit yes, good fixtures or not. For that price, I'd want a player in form and almost guaranteeing me a goal every 1-2 games. He isn't even worth 7m the output he's giving. Get rid and reinvest in my opinion.

See I don't entirely agree with this notion,
Correct, he is not worth his value. no question. But we have seen teams with bloated subs and the cheap alternatives performing well.
There is money left over to spend, at least from my perspective.

And that's fine, I can see your point too, I just think those funds are better off spent elsewhere. I get that some teams can have big subs etc because of an overflow of cash, but imd still rather spend it where the points are, and not on a player who is deleiving breadcrumbs at that price. Each to their own though.

Yes and based on previous weeks, this is the correct play. Agree.
I do disagree though when I look forward at the fixtures and the potential changes of fortune under a new manager, especially if you already own him.

Yeah that is a true new valid point, I think I do had I would be more inclined to keep, I think it's just because I haven't got him and have seen the benefits more tha ti'd say move on, oh the joys of FPL hehe

If you’ve held him this long you may aswell keep for those killer fixtures and new manager.

Especially in a GW where most premium options played 90 mins, you’d expect Ronaldo to start v Arsenal after his 30 min cameo on the weekend

        I think so too.
Even if Carrick is still in charge I think he starts. There will be an expectation that Arsenal is a game they have to set up to win.

Not a hope. He played in a meaningless European match last week. You telling me now he's gonna be benched for a Merseyside derby. No chance.

Dias & Raphinha -> Reguillon & Jota worth it for free?

It was my proposed transfer 2 weeks ago but went Son & Wilson instead and has cost me around 40 points so far!

    Thanks!

Is there any substance to the speculation of Origi starting over Jota?

It makes some sense from a team rotation POV and have Jota fresh for Wolves however is there anything more to it than that?

It’s the only reason I am waiting a week to bring him in

I think Jota will start personally, came off a bit early for a small rest, he's not played lots recently, should be fresh enough, and surely Klopp will wanna wrap a win up fairly early being a Derby.

      Jota will start.
He hasn't had a crazy demand this season and as a manager, you would be naive to upset his rhythm.

No money in the bank and a transfer to burn,

    A. Duffy (4.1) to Williams (3.9)
    B. Hwang (5.7) to Pukki (5.8) or King (5.6)

    1. Gabbiadini
      • 6 Years

Don't like either, you can afford Duffy to drop once more too, to 4.2 and you don't lose value.
I would also be holding Hwang for another week.

      Anything else?

        Anything you can see?

        Sanchez (Steele)
        TAA Cancelo Reguilon (Livramento Duffy)
        Salah Son Jota Raphinha (Brownhill)
        Kane Toney Hwang

Raphinha is possibly a trade in a couple of weeks,
I'd be looking at any avenue to a Chelsea defender, I think this asset is almost essential.

      B. Pukki for a punt and then to King in 2 GWs

      For A) Duffy ➡️ Johnson

      For B) Hwang ➡️ King/Dennis

With Johnson, I think he may be in and out with Coufal. West ham forums suggest they want a more attacking fullback in Coufal this week for example.

I see King as the best long term budget forward option. I am waiting 2GW personally, but with a transfer to burn theres no harm in getting him now.

Watford style of play means theyre a chance to score against any team imo

    Good evening guys.
    Best option here

    A) play mbeumo (bench saka)
    B) sell saka to maddison/gundo
    C) sell mbeumo to Lucas/h.barnes

    REPOST
    Hey all,

    Hope everyone is well.
Would appreciate some advice as I’m a bit stuck at what transfers to make, if any

0.1 ITB & 2 FT

    Current team is:

    Sanchez
TAA, Cancel, Rudi
Salah, Gallag, Raph, Son
Vardy, Anto, Hwang

Subs: Foster, Duff, Manq and D.Luiz

I have been considering to strengthen my bench and going Duffy to Lamptey, but I am 0.1 off so would have to downgrade D.Luiz to Gilmour.

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I didn't catch the game, but looked at the BBC website and they had him in the right wing position.
