Tuesday’s FPL team news: Edouard in for Benteke as Rashica and Cantwell miss out

A full midweek schedule of Premier League matches kicks off tonight, with Newcastle United v Norwich City and Leeds United v Crystal Palace getting Gameweek 14 underway.

The games begin at 19:30 and 20:15 BST respectively.

Newcastle, who remain the only Premier League team without a win, make three changes from their Gameweek 13 loss at Arsenal, with Ciaran Clark (£4.4m) and Jamal Lewis (£4.2m) replacing the suspended Jamaal Lascelles (£4.4m) and Matt Ritchie (£4.9m), with Javier Manquillo (£4.0m) also getting the nod ahead of Emil Krafth (£4.3m).

Elsewhere, Dwight Gayle (£5.3m) features as a substitute having recovered from a hamstring injury.

As for Norwich, Dean Smith makes two changes, as Lukas Rupp (£4.4m) comes in for Mathias Normann (£4.5m), who is set to see a specialist due to a recurring pelvic issue, while Christos Tzolis (£4.8m) replaces the injured Milot Rashica (£5.2m), who is out with a groin problem.

Todd Cantwell (£5.3m), meanwhile, is also absent with a Covid-related issue.

The Canaries have taken seven points from their last three games, with Fantasy interest mostly centred around Teemu Pukki (£5.8m), who has scored two goals during that time.

Marcelo Bielsa makes three changes from the XI that drew 0-0 at Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, with Pascal Struijk (£4.4m), Mateusz Klich (£5.4m) and Tyler Roberts (£4.8m) coming in for Junior Firpo (£4.7m), Rodrigo (£6.3m) and Jack Harrison (£5.6m), all of whom are substitutes.

Patrick Vieira also makes three switches, with Luka Milivojevic (£5.4m), Michael Olise (£5.4m) and Christian Benteke (£6.4m) dropping out for Jeffrey Schlupp (£5.4m), Odsonne Edouard (£6.5m) and Jordan Ayew (£5.8m).

Influential defender Joachim Andersen (£4.5m) misses out again with a hamstring injury.

I'm thinking De Gea too. Great run of fixtures, if only Man United can turn their form around.

You could just go Tavares instead of Lamptey and be able to wait and not be priced out. Reckon Arsenal have pretty similar defensive fixtures to Brighton.

Quite like the idea of getting Alonso in or a Man City mid.

Could do Livramento + Brownhill + Antonio => Alonso + Gundogan + Davis (-4) and then Raph to Bowen for West Ham coverage the following GW? Gives a bit of a benching headache though.

You'll be glad of a deep bench over the next few GWs.
I'm in very much the same boat considering cashing in on Livra for Alonso and going 5 (the same five) ATB, downgrading Wilson for a sub 6.5 striker who may or may not play.
I don't know any City mid can be trusted 100% though, and I'd rather have a 4.4 mid than a 4.4 striker, but I wouldn't say its a terrible move.

I'd rather go to one of these clubs pushing for silverware and work to get into the starting XI.
I think so too would Raphinha.

If both options are presented to him, do you think he is choosing Spurs over Liverpool? Cmon.

I mean I don’t blame him for wanting more cash and silverware. But sit out your career on Liverpools bench or until Salah leaves/quits? Sounds boring but unfortunately quite common.

I have 2FTs and want to trade both Jimenez (fixtures turn) and Duffy, 0.0ITB.

The thought has been to go Duffy to Alonso, which as it stands leaves 6.2 for a forward, whom I am currently undecided.

Alonso looks likely to rise, however, it is just too early to complete this move correct?
Only 2 games have been played this GW, Dennis who I like as a forward option has a knock, so yeah what are your thoughts?

King is a good option and will be very handy cover during busy period. Would be between King and Pukki for me
Would also wait since you can afford it with 6.2m to spend
Don't want another Chilwell incident if he gets injured

There's only the Watford strikers in that price range unless Broja gets his place back. Only alternative is to get bench fodder and go towards a five man midfield or defence.

Yes, I have thought this, grabbing a 4.4. However, it leaves me very thin next week.
Substitutes of Gilmour, Brownhill and 4.4 (forward) with 1.8 ITB.

I really like Dennis as a player, and have had him since GW1, but there is a strong possibility he goes to AFCON, so might not be great value. Is King an option?
Plenty will say its too early, but there's no law against it. If waiting prices you out, go for it. Whats the worst that can happen? A hit further down the line is not the end of the world.

I did read about this yes.
King would be an option definitely, however, is that how I want to spend my funds. I am not decided.

        That is true, yes.
Although the argument is Alonso is 100.2 (index), there's a chance he doesn't rise and then if someone picks up an injury or suspension and I've traded early for a price rise that didn't even happen, then I'm feeling pretty aggrieved.

"Hopefully we can both get back on the pitch soon and help... We know each other from England, trained with each other quite a lot. We have a good connection and hopefully we can help the team by getting on the pitch and helping as best as we can.” [via @ManCity]

I am sure the Leeds pen should have been retaken.

Raphinha stuttering run up had Leeds players in the box and that is encroachment and should be retaken

did Auba to Wilson yesterday. and i was content with that being my only transfer this week until Pep said Foden will not play many minutes, so after a quick check to see what i could do with the money left over from the Auba sale, i noticed i had exact funds to do Foden to Sancho & Allan to Maddison, so i felt compelled to do those moves for a -8 while also capping Wilson as a differential, so its safe to say after what happened in the games earlier i'm a very very relieved man to be on a green arrow especially as i don't own Raph 😆

    2FT

Before Alonso rises and Livra falls
    a/ Livra & Wilson > Alonso & Sub 6.5 forward (who?)
    b/ Livra & Foden > Alonso & Bilva/Gundog
c/ Sit tight and ignore the price changes.

    team for reference

Pump most of the funds into starting 11. Ideally 3 cheap subs who can get minimum 2 pts when needed

    2. Silecro
      • 6 Years
      2 years, 4 months ago

2 benchers who can also provide points if needed. This year there is value in 5.5-8 assets (gallagher, esr, king..) across all positions so i dont see pumping money in first 11 being and advantage. Happy with 2 big hitters, good defence and solid bench which are also sometime in first 11 (livra and white)

    3. Gunneryank
      • 2 Years

2 starters, practically nailed, with even a bit of cash used. For example, now i have Gallagher and Livramento, but that might change. Sometimes, it may be correct even to start them, as i did with Livramento a few times when i had poor 3rd defender choices and he was having a good run of points.

Have one half decent sub at least. Fortunately my team value is decent. Have a plan to go 4-3-3 and get a Watkins - Vardy - King frontline. By then I assume not many will have that. And Firmino will make Jota owners cry.

Hard to comment when only 2 games played, however...

would you roll ft and play Raph vs BRE (seems an easy decision) or sell him for one of Gund/Bilva ahead of Watford?

I'd have exactly 7.3m to spend so no wriggle room for price changes - assuming Gund rises today

I just sold Mbeumo for Gilmour. Using one of my free transfers.
Delighted to be rid of Mbeumo.

Got him around gw10 for his 'nice' run of fixtures - but the guy is just Adama Traore in disguise. My worst fpl transfer of the season.
I don't listen to the 'underlying stats' brigade they don't watch football - it was the fixtures that fooled me.
