FPL Gameweek 19 Scout Picks: City triple-up against injury-hit Leicester

We have chosen our best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Gameweek 19 ahead of Sunday’s 13:30 GMT deadline.

We’re already three fixtures down for the Boxing Day matches, with the postponement of Liverpool v Leeds United depriving us of the services of Mohamed Salah (£13.1m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.3m) for the first time in a while.

We have gone for a 4-5-1 formation this week and, as ever, we are limited to an £83.0m budget for our starting XI.

Our four substitutes, meanwhile, are chosen from the budget/mid-price crop of players to give some potentially cost-effective alternatives to the big hitters who invariably make the initial cut.

GOALKEEPER

Norwich City are the division’s lowest scorers with a paltry eight goals in 17 matches and even the change in head coach hasn’t really addressed that weakness, with Dean Smith’s side finding the net on just one occasion in the last five league fixtures. A Covid outbreak isn’t likely to do the Canaries’ preparations any good, either, so Aaron Ramsdale (£5.1m) wasn’t a difficult pick this week. As well as the opposition, he is also in on his own merit: he has the highest points-per-match average (5.1) of any first-choice goalkeeper this season and has prevented more ‘expected goals’ (4.2) than any other shot-stopper bar Jose Sa.

    What would you do? Free Hit or not?

    I'd keep Salah till LEI, but can't see what else to do instead... maybe buy Dalot/Reguilom? Or a new striker?

      Amartey to Reguilon sounds good. You'll need Alonso replacement soon anyway so you might as well start preparing now.

        Looking for a way to fit in Roaldo but can't do it without selling Salah, but can get Son selling one of Foden/Jota... would you get him?

          Foden to Son could pay off instantly. But I think that selling Salah has more pros than cons too. It's hard to do it but there's more ways to play the game and with 3 blanks in 5 it makes sense, even if he's the best player in the league. Chelsea will be tight but Leicester is really weak so I get it why people are reluctant to do it.

      Dunno who's next choice or about good but McGovern and Gunn both played PL before, but not much. On current form Arsenal were likely to stuff them even if they had Krul.

        Wouldn’t be so sure tbf. Only game Norwich have lost comfortably since Smith arrived was away at Tottenham and that was with a series of missed chances.

        Arsenal should win but have been lucky to play Saints with a 40yo in goal and Leeds in the midst of a total crisis.

    Getting rid of Salah and taking a -8 means I'd almost welcome postponements forcing me into a FH... then again that'd be a boring Boxing Day as a football fan. Let's see what we end up with, Merry Christmas all!

      exactly, Salah can't hurt you when he's not playing, and we need to remember the players coming in, Son for example probably only needs 1 goal to pay back that -8, then for many the likes of Ronaldo or Kane coming in too that -8 can look like money well spent come the end of the week

    I have a team with 4 out this week, but my playing 10 have Walker, ESR, and antonio that all potentially won’t play. Also I have to start gilmour. I’ve been trying to offload these players but with recent weeks I’ve had other fires to put out. I’m also in a no hit league. I think I’ve got no choice but to use a free hit this week, agree?
