Fixtures

Double Gameweek 22 confirmed for eight teams

The revised fixture list for Double Gameweek 22 was announced by the Premier League on Thursday morning, with eight top-flight sides playing twice.

Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley, Chelsea, Leicester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Watford are the clubs who have two fixtures in the upcoming Gameweek.

There is a caveat: this proposed schedule is subject to change should any FA Cup third-round matches involving these teams or their second Double Gameweek 22 opponents be postponed this weekend. In the event of that happening, the outstanding cup ties would be played in this free midweek instead.

GAMEWEEK 22 DOUBLES

  • Brentford: Liverpool (a), Man Utd (h)
  • Brighton: Crystal Palace (h), Chelsea (h)
  • Burnley: Leicester (h), Watford (h)
  • Chelsea: Manchester City (a), Brighton (a)
  • Leicester: Burnley (a), Spurs (h)
  • Man Utd: Aston Villa (a), Brentford (a)
  • Spurs: Arsenal (h), Leicester (a)
  • Watford: Newcastle (a), Burnley (a)

There is a real mixed bag of ‘doubles’ here, with Brentford’s two games unappealing and Chelsea and Spurs having far from straightforward tests.

The best pairings are arguably those of Watford and Burnley, although which players from these two clubs beyond Emmanuel Dennis (£6.1m) and/or Joshua King (£5.8m) represent attractive targets is another question.

Liverpool, West Ham United and even Everton, whose players some of us would have loaded up on ahead of Double Gameweek 21, have very decent ‘single’ Gameweeks, meanwhile, so as ever a balancing act would seem to be the way to go.

DATES AND TIMES OF THE ADDITIONAL FIXTURES

Tuesday 18 January

19:30 Burnley v Watford
20:00 Brighton v Chelsea

Wednesday 19 January

19:30 Leicester v Spurs
20:00 Brentford v Man Utd

No way I'm using any chips this week.

TAA and Jota home to Brentford
Bowen, Soucek and Antonio home to Leeds
    Keane away to Norwich

      Exactly

Although I'm permanently benching Keane until I sell him

I think I'll never own an Everton player EVER again.

Same boat, can’t see any real value … of course depends on your team but the DGW looks pretty rubbish as it stands and could get even less appealing if the FA cup causes doubles to be cancelled.

    I'm benching Salah.

He only misses two weeks and it's a hassle not worth having!

Plenty of points to be had from a high value 14 man squad for 2 weeks, especially when Son is the only other premium worth owning atm!

    My team now:

    DDG
    Taa Cancelo ALONSO
    Salah* Jota SON Bowen
    Antonio DENNIS Edouard

    Steer* Gray AitNouri DALOT

So only 4/5 dgw players. Is it too much to take a few hits there -

Edouard+Salah+Dalot+Steer to Ronaldo+Maddy+Royal+Bachmann (-12) and then I can activate BB chip with 8 dgw players

    DDG BACHMANN
    Taa Cancelo ALONSO ROYAL AitNouri
    MADDY Jota SON(C) Bowen Gray
    Antonio DENNIS RONALDO

BB could pay off that big hit move?

Sounds a good number, problem with FH this week is I could see a few highly owned SGWers doing well so a danger your original team could outscore the FH team. Bruno for example is one I'd personally avoid - different player this season with Ronaldo there, to the point he's not even nailed anymore

    Hi all,
In reference to my previous post, I’d just like to add that Az is correct in saying that the article in question does say that the percentages are very low regarding the anxiety and low mood FPL creates but it’s still a percentage that exists which brings me to say that one of the positives (and there is quite a few) about the FPL community is the camaraderie it brings to a lot of people on here and the fact that we can talk about these issues between ourselves. Some people live on their own and have nobody to speak to, I have a family and my wife just raises her eyebrows When the G/W is on and I’m muttering to myself, but we’re not all Sam and Lee on FPL family who can quite happily chat to each other about the G/W they’ve had 🙂 so it was good to see that perfect strangers can chat amongst themselves about how they feel and the majority on here can understand and sympathise with how they feel and they’re not alone.
Anyway, I’ve gone on for too long, but one other thing I’d like to know as I’m still a relatively FPL virgin ( 2 years) is that my previous comment has been highlighted Green, does anybody know why this means? Many thanks and take care everybody….

          Welcome Gaz! 🙂

Interesting post, I know from experience that FPL can affect my mood, I just also know from my background in Psych research that over-interpreting very small effect sizes can be dangerous.

Hopefully we see some more research on the subject!

            Thanks Az,
My posts wasn’t necessarily solely about FPL, but the amount of interest it generated and the fact that people can come on here and unburden themselves can only be a good thing. It’s also good to get away from FPL once in a while on here so I asked a question a while ago regarding what people do for a living (career, retired etc) and where they live ( globally it seems)and some of the answers were fascinating!
Listened to your show last night on FFS with Sonaldo whilst walking my dog, good fun and informative 🙂 keep up the good work Az and thanks for replying…
