Fixtures

Double Gameweek 22 confirmed for eight teams

The revised fixture list for Double Gameweek 22 was announced by the Premier League on Thursday morning, with eight top-flight sides playing twice.

Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley, Chelsea, Leicester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Watford are the clubs who have two fixtures in the upcoming Gameweek.

There is a caveat: this proposed schedule is subject to change should any FA Cup third-round matches involving these teams or their second Double Gameweek 22 opponents be postponed this weekend. In the event of that happening, the outstanding cup ties would be played in this free midweek instead.

GAMEWEEK 22 DOUBLES

  • Brentford: Liverpool (a), Man Utd (h)
  • Brighton: Crystal Palace (h), Chelsea (h)
  • Burnley: Leicester (h), Watford (h)
  • Chelsea: Manchester City (a), Brighton (a)
  • Leicester: Burnley (a), Spurs (h)
  • Man Utd: Aston Villa (a), Brentford (a)
  • Spurs: Arsenal (h), Leicester (a)
  • Watford: Newcastle (a), Burnley (a)

There is a real mixed bag of ‘doubles’ here, with Brentford’s two games unappealing and Chelsea and Spurs having far from straightforward tests.

The best pairings are arguably those of Watford and Burnley, although which players from these two clubs beyond Emmanuel Dennis (£6.1m) and/or Joshua King (£5.8m) represent attractive targets is another question.

Liverpool, West Ham United and even Everton, whose players some of us would have loaded up on ahead of Double Gameweek 21, have very decent ‘single’ Gameweeks, meanwhile, so as ever a balancing act would seem to be the way to go.

DATES AND TIMES OF THE ADDITIONAL FIXTURES

Tuesday 18 January

19:30 Burnley v Watford
20:00 Brighton v Chelsea

Wednesday 19 January

19:30 Leicester v Spurs
20:00 Brentford v Man Utd

Ronaldo double, Dennis probably the best double, and Antonio Leeds, difficult to justify getting him in, but nice punt anyway.

Would you WC this team or take a -8 (selling Salah, Mbeumo and James) instead

    Ramsdale De Gea

    Rudiger Cancelo James Mitchell Tsimikas

    Salah Bernardo Saka Bowen Mbeumo

    Jesus Lacazette Dennis

1.5 ITB 1 FT FH used in GW21

    Any ideas would be welcomed

-8 is too much i think. Get Son and one L City player Maddison/ Tielemans for Salah and Mbeumo. Still you need to wait untill FA cups ties are played!

Son has been average for the last few games
He’s only gonna be a “cover” for a while now
Kane is easily the better option and Son always has had a history of going cold in the second half of the season

Think that fixtures are the 'easiest' component to be used as predictor; the form and 'uncontrollable' events are more difficult to apply albeit they look to be the main contributors ... maybe.

Who will start in goal for Watford in gw22.? Here is my take

Imo Foster being a GK likely to come back straight in away( Like he did earlier in season in gw5 returning from injury)

Watford look more organized with Foster in goal

In fact they have conceded more than 1 goal only twice in 8 games with Foster in goal
(In contast Bachmann 8 times in 10 games)

    Agree? Thoughts are welcomed

You need to factor in the change in manager so need to look when Ranieri took over. Ranieri chose Foster as #1. I don't think Bachman has done much since Fosters injury to justify taking the spot except maybe the Spurs game.

      1. HurriKane
        • 11 Years

Good point. I dont think he has been that great to keep his spot to his own.

Sure few decent saves but not commanding enough to organize the defence like Foster does

Based on ? Pls elaborate. Foster has nearly 2 weeks to train and get up to speed.

Plus GK's dont need to be eased in like outfield players when returning from injury

If you have Son/Ronaldo a Watford striker and can use an FT to get a spurs or United defender in then I don’t think you need a free hit tbh. There isn’t a huge amount to be afraid of, Liverpool and West Ham both have good SGW fixtures. I have no issue playing Jota, Trent, Antonio, Bowen.

The Premier League do add a caveat, however: "Should any of these teams' FA Cup third-round matches this weekend be postponed, their [second DGW22] fixture will be affected."

    Watfords next 3 fixtures:
    GW22 new (A) + bur (A)
    GW23 NOR (H)

I think the King and Dennis double up is very appealing.
