West Ham v Norwich team news: Cresswell returns as Soucek misses out

The curtain finally comes down on Double Gameweek 21 this evening, 11 days after it started.

The 10th match of the Gameweek sees West Ham United play host to Norwich City, with kick-off in east London at 19:45 GMT.

Hammers manager David Moyes has made three changes to his starting XI from the 3-2 win over Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day, two of which are enforced.

Said Benrahma is away at the Africa Cup of Nations and Tomas Soucek misses out altogether, while Ben Johnson is benched.

The fit-again Aaron Cresswell, Nikola Vlasic and Pablo Fornals all start in their places.

Norwich boss Dean Smith has made twice as many alterations from the Canaries’ last league outing, which was also against Palace a fortnight ago.

Tim Krul, Grant Hanley, Milot Rashica, Teemu Pukki, Brandon Williams and Max Aarons are back in a stronger-looking starting XI after injury and illness hit Norwich hard over Christmas.

Billy Gilmour is out with an ankle injury, while Angus Gunn, Sam Byram, Jacob Sorensen, Christos Tzolis and Dimitris Giannoulis are all on the bench.

GAMEWEEK 21 LINE-UPS

West Ham United XI: Fabianski, Coufal, Dawson, Diop, Cresswell, Lanzini, Fornals, Rice, Antonio, Bowen, Vlasic.

Subs: Areola, Yarmolenko, Masuaku, Johnson, Kral, Oko-Flex, Alese, Ekwah, Ashby.

Norwich City XI: Krul, Aarons, Gibson, Hanley, Williams, Placheta, Rashica, Lees-Melou, McLean, Pukku, Idah.

Subs: Gunn, Byram, Dowell, Kabak, Tzolis, Sorensen, Giannoulis, Gibbs, Rowe.

Played it safe captaining Antonio over Bowen and still came out with 86. Mustn’t grumble, but probably still will

Bowen had form and stats, how was that playing it safe?

Basically striker over mid and Antonio second highest scoring striker at the time I think

And as a long time owner his form has been poor for a long time. It's not using hindsight to say an in-form Bowen was the safer choice.

2 point difference after the first game which is nothing. Bowen was the safer, more sensible C pick going into the DGW, which I think is the point.

Its luck based, there is really no any logic in choosing one over other, they both were good picks. On another night could have been 2 goals for antonio.

Norwich was close to conceding 6. DCL is Everton's talisman. Moura and Royal might be too many Spurs, so not going towards Kane. King has been bad at hitting the target for a while now

        Lookman over DCL/Moura could work

I have to say that I'm really pleased for David Moyes. He received a lot of ridicule during and after his time at Man Utd. and it's great to see him showing again that's he's actually an excellent manager. It's no mean feat to take the West Ham team he inherited to 4th in the league and have them playing really entertaining football.

Yeah, it was quite sad really. After being an excellent manager with Everton for years, it was sad to see him become a figure of ridicule. But successive managers at ManUtd have shown it's no easy task there. Delighted for him and West Ham.

      it's remarkable!

i remember ahead of last season The Athletic did a pole on fan's enthusiasm/hope for the coming season.
the lowest team was WH at like 8% - the next lowest was in the 30s%

Moyes coming in and the season before hand seemed to pretty much point to us getting relegated.
We haven't spent heaps of cash - and everything has been working out great.

This Moyes love-in can only be a product of the Bowen haul. They beat Norwich ffs.

I mean 4th after 21 games is pretty impressive. That's 4 wins on the bounce after a rocky patch.

Thank you Bowen! Another decent GW, would have loved a hammers defender too. Now 1 point off 1k 🙂

Which of these two for a hit? Leaning towards a due to AVL having a DGW soon
    A) Watkins and Son out for Kane and Tilemans
b)Antonio and Son out for Kane and Maddinson

Salah, Davis and Livramento to Maddison, Ronaldo and Lamptey for a -8 instead of using the WC?
