Scout Squad

The Scout Squad’s best FPL players for Double Gameweek 22

The best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards for Double Gameweek 22 are discussed as the Scout Squad returns after its winter break.

For those new to this feature, it’s a weekly piece that always takes the form of a ‘Free Hit’-type selection for the upcoming Gameweek.

Fantasy Football Scout contributors Az, Sam, Neale and Tom each propose an 18-man long-list of Fantasy players, explaining their notable inclusions and omissions in the article below.

The Scout Squad also serves as a precursor to the Scout Picks, as the players listed will then be narrowed down to a squad of 15 (with the starting XI not exceeding a total cost of £83.0m) for final our weekly selection ahead of Friday’s deadline.

Each writer must meet the following requirements:

  • At least one goalkeeper costing £5.0m or less
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one midfielder listed at £6.5m or below
  • At least one forward priced at £7.0m or lower
  • No more than three players from the same club

Never understood that one. The hope that Dawson scores from a corner I suppose but of the 16 set pieces West Ham have scored from he hasn't scored once.

Either 6, or 7 with a -4. Depends on if I lose just one or both of Salah and Son.

Just 4 including Son, don't see many more I'd want so will probably just take a hit to field 5.

4 at moment but I’ve got 2 players who are out , son and salah , it makes sense to take a -4 and bring 2 players who should play twice . So if I can get 6 without using a chip I’ll be happy with that

Between 8 and 10 on FH. Maybe even 11 if TAA isn't back.

    Salah* Son* Jota Bernardo Brownhill*
    Antonio Dennis Broja

Salah and or Son out for a -4? Bowen against Leeds has potential for a big haul and Maddison is in great form coming up to the dgw he's a potential captain pick imo. If u wanted to stretch to a -8 I'd look at cucurella for Reece James

I really should know this, but:

Does the FH work exactly the same as the WC when it comes to prices? If I sell a player who has risen in price, then change my mind and buy him back, do I have to pay full price for him, or does it just cancel the transfer?

Full price during the free hit week

Obviously reverts to original purchase price when your team comes back the following week

Done taking fantasy football seriously this year. Horrible luck for weeks on end and I decided to WC to sort the mess out. Brought in triple Everton + Maddison and ended up on another 50k red. Can't catch a break. I think it's best for me to forget about it this year and just enjoy it for what it is, a game.

Thanks man. My rank is still salvageable but when you watch it slip week after week with those red arrows it's demoralising af.

It can be rough at times. I started off the season well (for me anyway) and was just inside 250k around GW13. I followed that with 7 red arrows in a row and dropped to 750k+. I had a small green arrow and then a slightly bigger one to bring me to 650k or so. This being a surprisingly good week will help a bit but it's taken a while and I've been hit by the postponements bad nearly every week (including this one with Allan and then bringing DCL in for a hit) but you can make it back. Some weeks it does make you feel like rubbish as any sense of control or linearity is taken away from you but just hang in there. Next GW is less than 48 hours away so next to no time to dwell on it, be glad of that!

  12. MrJobby

Looking at fixtures and comments I think taking a -4 hit to transfer 2 players in that will play two games and transfer 2 out that won’t play any due to injured or at AFCON seems to be the way ahead . You’d be very unlucky not to make the -4 back and the fixtures aren’t enticing enuff to use a chip .
    Would people agree ??

Would you WC this team? Keep in mind, at present it's only constructed as such because of a -12, so those are points I presume I'd get back if I switched to a WC.

    DDG - Steer
    Cancelo - TAA - Reguilon - Tierney - Tsimi
    Bernardo - Jota - Raph - Gallagher - Ramsey
    Kane - Ronaldo - Dennis

Or hold until Salah comes back from AFCON?
