The best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards for Double Gameweek 22 are discussed as the Scout Squad returns after its winter break.

For those new to this feature, it’s a weekly piece that always takes the form of a ‘Free Hit’-type selection for the upcoming Gameweek.

Fantasy Football Scout contributors Az, Sam, Neale and Tom each propose an 18-man long-list of Fantasy players, explaining their notable inclusions and omissions in the article below.

The Scout Squad also serves as a precursor to the Scout Picks, as the players listed will then be narrowed down to a squad of 15 (with the starting XI not exceeding a total cost of £83.0m) for final our weekly selection ahead of Friday’s deadline.

Each writer must meet the following requirements:

  • At least one goalkeeper costing £5.0m or less
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one midfielder listed at £6.5m or below
  • At least one forward priced at £7.0m or lower
  • No more than three players from the same club

      Do not sell Everton attackers for a while. They're attacking well again, with almost everyone fit and firing

            Norwich easily could have conceded 6 tonight

            Stop thinking of assets in terms of number of fixtures, but rather quality of fixtures

            What do you think DCL can get against this version of Norwich? Why did you get DCL on a wildcard?

              And he had other good chances in that match, including the one Gordon scored before it could get to his feet

                Think People brought in DCL for DGW ! Missed penalty ( he didn’t look in the run up that he was going to score)
                Ended up with big 0 including me which cost me massively!

                So do Antonio ➡ CR7 and downgrade Son a bit further. Maybe Lookman would work?

                You will regret it if you sell DCL I reckon. Personally I'd just move Son out and maybe take a look at Tarkowski for a single hit.

              That's my input for this GW. Wasn't trying to be funny, apologies. City don't have a DGW and have a decent Chelsea defence to contend with so I'd go with a doubler like Madisson or Moura, possibly Mount. Doubles aside it'd be Dé Bruyne, Sterling great form but Dé Bruyne more nailed, but neither for this DGW.

    Does anyone know how it's mathematically possible to outperform the top 10k average and still get a red arrow? I assume it means those around my rank also outperformed the 10k average but it's strange because I'm right on the edge of the 10k. Maybe loads of those ranked 10-20k outscored me I guess.

          It's complicated, basically it's usually not enough to beat the top10k average even if you're in top10k. If the game was just those top10k managers and nobody else, getting the top10k avg should leave you basically where you are. But since there are thousands of managers below you who can overtake you, you need 2-3 points more or something to be immune against them. Hope that makes some sense

            That's why the safety score was introduced as it's an exact calculation for each individual manager finding exactly the score that makes them immune against all attacks from both directions of the overall table.

    Despite the carnage of cancelled games, COVID etc there is the opportunity to rise up ranks. I have gone from 275K to 26K since week 15 and taken 32 points hit. So sorry yes I guess I am gloating as feeling good with that but just shows don’t be afraid to take hits.
