The best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards for Double Gameweek 22 are discussed as the Scout Squad returns after its winter break.

For those new to this feature, it’s a weekly piece that always takes the form of a ‘Free Hit’-type selection for the upcoming Gameweek.

Fantasy Football Scout contributors Az, Sam, Neale and Tom each propose an 18-man long-list of Fantasy players, explaining their notable inclusions and omissions in the article below.

The Scout Squad also serves as a precursor to the Scout Picks, as the players listed will then be narrowed down to a squad of 15 (with the starting XI not exceeding a total cost of £83.0m) for final our weekly selection ahead of Friday’s deadline.

Each writer must meet the following requirements:

  • At least one goalkeeper costing £5.0m or less
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one midfielder listed at £6.5m or below
  • At least one forward priced at £7.0m or lower
  • No more than three players from the same club

      Antonio. I gave Toney so many chances and I'm burnt by Brentford after mistakenly shouting their praises for so long ahead of great fixtures many weeks ago. They're getting pounded by most any decent team. No more Brentford for me, even if they have a DGW.

    Somehow scraped to 15k OR with a somewhat dysfunctional squad. Need to FH cause I've got only Sanchez and Rudi, and did a Salah>Son early gw to beat price rises.

      Nah. The DGW matchups simply arent exciting. Id save the FH. Plus you have a lot of players you dont want back anyway.
      I would sell Son, James, Rashford in that order based on your Hit comfort level.
      KDB would be a target to bring in maybe Lamptey

      FH or long-term? If long-term Spurs face the top three defensive sides in their next four after GW22 (Moura transfer not that good now.
      Antonio faces the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th worst defences in the league in four of his next five also keeps the funds in your ban to bring Salah back

        Another post by you i completely agree with.

        I'm gonna sacrifice Ronaldo to bring Salah back, but he'll stay for the DGW obv. I think Antonio and Bowen just...stay in my team lol. I would use Antonio for Kane's spot if i FH...but that's the only way Antonio doesn't play for me.

    Anybody else completely uninspired by the options this week? I only have one DGWer (King) but nobody is tempting me. Maybe...James->Lamptey....?...?

    Also: currently benching Salah. Such a weird GW.

      Yep this should be a DGW, but since there is an postponement axe hanging over this GW 22 it makes decisions so hard, not to mention the DGW fixture aren't great. One team's DGW fixtures seem to be great , but that team is not in their best form currently.

      So yeah there are no stand out options for me too. I have 2 DGW ers, but also 4 flaged players.

      Cucurella over Lamptey for me.

      I sold Salah to use those funds but that's just me. Ronaldo pays for him to return.

      I think there's a few interesting DGW possibilities. 1 would be too few for me. I can get 4 for a hit, but I'm considering the big FH button for 8 or 9.

    I don't want to FH this GW, but I also have 4 flagged players 2 of them are not gonna play at all for sure. And I have 2 players who should have DGW.

    If I don't FH then one hit is a given. Maybe even 2 although I don't fell so good about takiing 2 hits.

    On a possitive side GW21 got me 88 points and finally one big green arrow in a long time(after 4 GW's with red arrows) . 🙂

        Defence: TAA(yf), Cancelo, Johnson,Alonso, Guehi
        Midfield: Bowen,Jota,Son(rf)(ramsey,Salah(rf))
        Forwards: Watkins , Antonio(broja(yf) )

        That's how it is built up currently.

        Salah and Son are most likely transfers out for sure.And since I might want some big attacker then one of the Forwards might need to make room for him as well. But this reguires a -8 hit.

          Hmm. So could you keep Watkins and Antonio and get Kane or Ronaldo?

          Or. Or. Hear me out. Pitch both Salah and Son for Kane AND Ronaldo for the DGW shenanigans? That way you keep Jota, Bowen, Antonio, Watkins. Which i would want to do.

          Short term of course. But if they smash the DGW you're laughing.

            I'm thinking about Kane mostly since Ronaldo's team is in a bad form. Getting both requires 3 hits though and I would have to get out one of Antonio or Watkins. As you can have only 3 forwards. And Son and Salah are midfielders and Kane and Ronaldo are forwards, so no one on one swap possible there I guess.So getting both is not a good move I think.

            If they haul then yes it would be good move, but that's a big gamble. 🙂

        My only mistake was to play Johnson over Alonso in GW 21. But I thought Johnson has DGW and better fixtures. Alonso had one bad fixture.

      I would want to keep that team, as it's great but doesn't have a lot of DGW players. You could FH, and attempt to spike the GW, or just hold and bite the bullet, with your FH intact to tackle some other GW. Surprised you still have Salah, but with a team that good and presumably a nice score this week (as you have the same 3 Hammers i have and i wrecked house this week), you might just be good. You could afford to bench him and still operate a satisfactory GW?

    10 greens in a row.

    14 greens in the last 15 GWs.

    Up to 105k now and qualified for the 7th round of the cup.

    It's been a crazy ride.

    Now : is Bruno Fernandes a good pick for DGW22 or just a nostalgia pick.

    Should I get Kane/Ronaldo + Moura/Maddison or Dennis + Bruno ?

      Happy for your green arrows and Cup result quite an achievement.

      Although with so many green arrows my initial thought was you should be in top 50k or better until I saw your rank. Don't get me wrong though 105k is a great rank, just that I thought you would be even higher with those green arrow amounts.

      Upgrading Goode would be better, gives a decent 4th defender to rely on. Brownhill replacement is probably going to be useless when Salah returns.

    Can afford Laca > Ronaldo but actually considering Laca > King instead, have Dennis already but their fixtures are so good in the dgw as well as the week after.

    Also doing Son > ?

    Several dgw options here like Moura, Maddison or a Man Utd mid but can't stop thinking Bowen vs Leeds will outscore them all.

      I'm steering clear of United mid personally. I like Mount or Maddison. I don't like double Watford but I'm definitely getting Dennis this week...with those fixtures you might be right.

      As a Ronaldo owner I'm happy captaining him, and will enjoy my single Watford attacker lol.

    What a crazy season. So so so many unexpected twists and the injury list just keep piling up. It is so frustrating when all your calculated transfers go down in flame when the game get cancelled. Tempted to get Maddison + Kane for a -4 but knowing my luck, the double game will likely be cancelled and they will both pick up a yellow card or something.
