Brighton v Chelsea team news: Lamptey + Mount return, Trossard + Maupay subs

Double Gameweek 22 continues at the Amex Stadium this evening, with Brighton and Hove Albion hosting Chelsea at 20:00 GMT.

Tariq Lamptey was only a substitute at the weekend because of a minor groin issue but is fit enough to start against his former club.

Steven Alzate and Danny Welbeck also come into the starting XI, with Adam Lallana, Leandro Trossard and Neal Maupay dropping out. The latter two, however, are substitutes.

Elsewhere, Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy remain out.

As for Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel makes three changes from the 1-0 loss at Manchester City, with Jorginho, Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi replacing Malang Sarr, Mateo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic, all of whom drop to the bench.

Andreas Christensen, who has Covid, misses out, as well as Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell and Reece James.

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 22 LINE-UPS

Brighton and Hove Albion XI: Sanchez, Veltman, Webster, Burn, Cucurella, Alzate, Gross, Lamptey, Moder, Mac Allister, Welbeck

Subs: Maupay, Trossard, Scherpen, March, Caicedo, Roberts, McGill, Leonard, Ferguson

Chelsea XI: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Silva, Rudiger, Hudson-Odoi, Kante, Jorginho, Alonso, Mount, Ziyech, Lukaku

Subs: Kovacic, Pulisic, Werner, Loftus-Cheek, Bettinelli, Saul, Havertz, Sarr, Hall

A and B are the best picks imo … wait and see if Villa get a DGW and that will decide for you.

C will get most points, but at 2 million cheaper, I’m looking at Digne. Hoping Villa get a double so I can justify the hit, I’m a bit tired of Marcos tbh

Brighton are a mid-table version of city and Chelsea in FPL terms. Teams where the system comes before individuals, and managers not afraid of rotating the squads, so no one player is ever worth buying.

Is it time for a realistic squad-wide wage cap in the Premier League?

Need to give everyone else a chance if the likes of Liverpool, Man United and even Chelsea can't compete with Manchester City.

    Arsenal and Spurs lagging too.

West Ham the real bright spot this season.

It's no longer a reasonably fair competition, with sovereign wealth funds dominating.

Even the bastion of capitalism, the USA, recognises the value of a first draft pick in its NFL franchise for the greater good of a competitive league. A socialist principle embodied there?

Don’t Manchester United have a higher wage bill than Manchester City?

I can’t stand when people don’t check these things. It’s some sort of weird and lazy view that Man City spend more than everyone else because they’re far better than the rest.

Man United have a higher wage bill and have the highest transfer net spend in the last 10 years, yet their fans call City an oil club and protest against the Glazers for the lack of success.

    2. No Professionals

They can’t compete with city because they haven’t spent the money as well as city have. City sign what they need not whoever is the best player available. City players understand the ethos, they understand that they can be rotated and it is the team that matters.

Man Utd’s wage bill is greater than City’s though so I’m confused as to how a cap is going to help them compete?

Pep will leave and city will revert somewhat. Just need to look at Everton, Man U etc to see that money isn't the answer. Arsenal have dramatically cut their wage bill and are coming back to the top table with a young squad. The main problem with this sort of idea being applied to a global sport is that unless the rest of the world agrees to a wage cap, footballers will go elsewhere.

So having no Chelsea player and no Brighton player for their DGW's only cost me 4.5 points with bookings and lack of clean sheets ..... I think that makes up for Dennis only playing once ..... but I think Curculla owners are very unlucky with his returns. He's a great FF pick in an alternative universe

      I'm on WC too - thinking that I'll go something like this;

      Sa, Foster
      TAA, Cancelo, Ait-Nouri, Davies, Tierney
      Jota, Foden, Bowen, Raphinha, Coutinho
      Dennis, Saint-Max, Ronaldo

Leaves me with 0.1 itb assuming Jota > Salah in a couple of weeks.

I actually think United have decent chance of CS against BRE who don’t tend to score that much.

Annoyed I didn’t stick with him on WC.

    On WC, draft so far:

    Lloris Foster
    TAA Cancelo Laporte Digne Cucurella
    Jota Raphinha Coutinho KDB Bowen
    Watkins Broja Dennis

£5.2m in the bank to do Jota to Salah.

Not overly sure on GK spots and 5th defender. Considering Ramsdale and Sanchez and Davies / Ait Nouri 5th defender.

    Open to suggestions. Thanks.

I would save some money on the 5th defender and go down to a 4.5. You might want that money down the line.

Ait Nouri immediate fixtures aren't great but at 4.3 they don't need to be.

      similar to my current draft....

Might move Tierney down to something cheaper...Coutinho I'm not convinced on just yet but seems a good idea to jump on. I think Foden is better value than KDB, though I love KDB.

      Sa, Foster
      TAA, Cancelo, Ait-Nouri, Davies, Tierney
      Jota, Foden, Bowen, Raphinha, Coutinho
      Dennis, Saint-Max, Ronaldo

Leave 0.1 spare once I go Jota > Salah

Fodens rotation is the frustrating part. Won’t have that as much with Kevin. I wouldn’t go Ronaldo on WC but rest looks good

i'm assuming Ron looks good coming back this week - MU fixtures are still great.
also an alternate path to funding Salah.

Foden one is tough - I think he was pretty nailed before injury/illness over christmas so banking on that again.

Looks great and I would go for something similar, and still might, if I decide to WC.

I agree re: 5th defender as I think you are spending too much. Ait Nouri is a great option IMO. Maybe even Lowton.

I know you “can’t have them all” but Spurs have loads of games to catch up on but I suppose KDB to son would be a nice option there.

Yeah, I’d have Air Nouri / Wolves def for sure. I’d have 3 pool too. If I were in WC I’d be getting Cancelo, Laporte and Kdb/Sterling and Trent, Salah and Robertson/Vvd/Jota. Fill in the gaps then.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Will get Ait Nouri as 5th defender. Would give me the option of doing either Jota or Coutinho for Salah then as well.

    Pick one for this week;

    a) Coutinho (Everton)
    b) Raphinha (Newcastle)
    c) Saka (Burnley)

My first sub has the same amount of points as my 7 outfield DGW players thus far...now that's funny in a sick way!

DGW punts just haven't worked out. Feel silly benching Robertson now but at the time I went with the potential upside

Gallagher would have stayed on my bench even without taking a hit… just the way it goes when we’ve needed deep benches lately I guess

So it looks like we’ll soon be approaching the stage where city are coasting to the title and no longer have any pressure on their games

How will this effect their team and how has it done in the past?

Will they slap teams more and play with More freedom? Rotate more? Will they relax and concede a few more goals ?

Be interested to know your guys input and experience?

More rotation as they focus on champions League.

I think they will try and get as many points on the board as early as possible so that they can coast in the latter stages and focus on Europe. Don’t see them stepping off the gas or rotating or dipping in form anytime soon.

This is my feeling too. I’d say it’s now or ever for a triple up, especially as they don’t have as many games left as most

This and no outstanding games is why I'm tepid on KDB, rightly or wrongly!
