Brentford v Man Utd and Leicester v Spurs team news: Ronaldo and Reguilon return

The final two matches of Double Gameweek 22 take place tonight, with Leicester City v Tottenham Hotspur getting underway at 19:30 GMT and Brentford v Manchester United kicking off half an hour later.

The big team news comes from west London, where Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the Manchester United XI after sitting out his side’s two recent meetings against Aston Villa in league and cup.

Scott McTominay is also back after a one-match ban, with Nemanja Matic dropping to the bench and Edinson Cavani missing out because of injury.

It’s an otherwise unchanged line-up, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial returning to the bench.

Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka miss out with a hamstring strain and illness respectively, while Jadon Sancho is unavailable due to a family bereavement.

Brentford give a debut to recent signing and £4.5m FPL goalkeeper Jonas Lossl, with Mads Bech Sorensen, Mathias Jensen and Sergi Canos also recalled.

Alvaro Fernandez, Rico Henry, Kris Ajer and Shandon Baptiste are all benched.

MATCHDAY LIVE WATCHALONG

In the other match tonight, Leicester welcome back a host of faces from injury and illness.

Kasper Schmeichel, Caglar Soyuncu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Luke Thomas and Patson Daka all return to the starting XI, while defender James Justin is among the substitutes as he makes a matchday squad for the first time in 11 months.

Sergio Reguilon returns from injury for Spurs, with the wing-back, Hugo Lloris and Oliver Skipp the three changes from the EFL Cup semi-final against Chelsea a week ago.

Pierluigi Gollini, Matt Doherty and Giovani Lo Celso make way, while Son Heung-min again misses out because of injury.

I imagine he’s probably shifting funds for Salah

        Gw23 Son > Raphinha
        Gw24 Silva > Salah

Unless he goes Bruno of course. Then it’s a different story.

    Ramsdale (Foster)

I’m not against an early wc - especially if you have 2 FHs. I think you do need to sort out the structure of the team so I’d maybe use it next gw and you can get salah back

You might have guessed I’m not keen on the structure you have there lol! Too much at the back (city have no doubles) and not liking the Leeds forward. You’ve got Bowen in twice as well!

Last week I was lamenting about captaining Antonio over Bowen, and getting my 7th red arrow in a row - dropping from 62k to 170k. This week Salah to Bruno (c) means I have nearly reversed that to 74k in one week. Crazy season, and shows how quick things can change.

Same. Missed the deadline last GW, didn't bring in Bowen, left (C) on MOUNT (imagine). Bruno (C) this week has seen me go 45k - - >120k - - > 63k.

Interestingly enough, I'm not sure I bring in Bruno for a - 8 this week if I hadnt done so badly last week. Funny old season.

You're frustration with your captaincy fail is clouding your judgement of the game. Ronaldo played well. He linked up the play for the players around him and created space for them:

1st goal - Ronaldo drops deep taking the defender(s) with him, creating space for Elanga
2nd goal - Ronaldo chests it down deep, taking the defender with him and allowing Bruno to overlap.

He was poor in fpl terms but decent in real terms.

I dare anybody to beat my tale of woe:

Made an early transfer on Thursday night Son>Maddison to “catch the price rise.”
When first Burnley game was cancelled and NLD was probably off, Maddison and Kane no longer looked like viable captaincy options.
I had exact cash on Friday for Foden>Bruno(c) and was going to make that move, alas I was too patient for my own good and waited until that stupid German had his press conference despite reports of Ronaldo being injured in training the precious day and leaving early.
After Ronaldo was suddenly declared fit and scared of the Ronaldo EO, I proceeded to take a -8 to get him in as captain, wavering until the very last moment….unloading Antonio and DCL and picking up Dennis in the process.
After making these moves, I also thought it prudent to start Gray over Maddison for coverage against Norwich (seeing as DCL was now gone).
-53 points in one gameweek, ending up on a 56(-8) instead of 105(-4).

    Can anyone beat this?

    1. Qaiss
      • 8 Years
      2 years, 3 months ago

Quite close. Went Antonio + Son to Ronaldo + Jota for a -4, when if Rangnick had simply said Ronaldo is out, I would have gone Son > Fernandes for free and captained.

47 point swing. This game eh…

      Lesson = early transfers dangerous?

Imagine Bruno's EO would have been a lot lower without the LEI-BUR news as Son to Maddison was the consensus move on here before that

The thing is it was being patient right before the deadline which killed me. The early move for Maddison inadvertently gave me exact cash for Foden>Bruno and that was going to be my move…….it’s just so cruel that in the end being patient on deadline day led to such a disastrous result

Mark's had a shocker of a week. I always like observing the pros when they have a bad season as he'll start playing maverick and probably still end up with a good rank.

Fabio Borges was miles behind a few weeks ago and now he’s apparently into the top 5k.

I haven’t watched FPL Blackbox recently but I always noticed how Mark would often deliberately try and sway away from the team AZ had, rather than playing his own game. Cost him a bit so far.

Would you wildcard the below? Neither keeper looks likely to play right now, Son needs to go, Keane/Dawson/Bernardo/Odegaard/Gray all seem a bit rubbish etc. Already used first FH.

    Bachmann / Guaita
    TAA / Cancelo / Dias / Keane / Dawson
    Son / Bernardo / Bowen / Odegaard / Gray
    Ronaldo / Antonio / King

Who is the best defender to get for GW23? Man City one like Laporte although is he nailed?

    Sanchez
    Trent Cancelo Laporte Digne
    KDB Jota Raphinha Bowen
    Watkins Broja Dennis

Who to go with for the last 3 spots?

    A) Robertson and Martinelli
    B) Ait Nouri and Coutinho

    1) Lloris
    2) Ramsdale

    DDG
    Alonso TAA Cancelo
    Maddison Jota Bowen Bilva
    Ronaldo King Antonio

    Foster Gray Dawson Livramento

    1FT, 3.8itb

    If DGW23 then:

Alonso >> Digne, and maybe Watkins in (-4)

    If not then:

Bilva >> Foden / KDB, and likely (C)

    Good moves ??

    Thanks

Generally like it but having 3 pool makes it harder to get salah back. Maybe lose robbo and keep cash in the bank for salah

        You need cancelo as well

Cheers! I have some similar thoughts in mind. Might just do that, but on the other hand I quite like the prospect of double Pool defence. If Villa has DGW 23, then I will probably go for Coutinho instead of Jota.

Quite like it, but how does KDB become Salah if you have 3 LIV, means 2 moves which is not ideal on WC. I'd do Robbo to Cancelo.

I would get Jota and KDB out, for probably Coutinho and Salah in. But the reason I want to have Robbo is because he is differential and Cancelo is not. Robbo is yet to get his points and I like the prospect of double Pool defence.

I have gone wildcard tonight with Robbo, TAA, Cancelo and Laporte. Feels like what everyone else will want soon
