Brentford v Man Utd and Leicester v Spurs team news: Ronaldo and Reguilon return

The final two matches of Double Gameweek 22 take place tonight, with Leicester City v Tottenham Hotspur getting underway at 19:30 GMT and Brentford v Manchester United kicking off half an hour later.

The big team news comes from west London, where Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the Manchester United XI after sitting out his side’s two recent meetings against Aston Villa in league and cup.

Scott McTominay is also back after a one-match ban, with Nemanja Matic dropping to the bench and Edinson Cavani missing out because of injury.

It’s an otherwise unchanged line-up, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial returning to the bench.

Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka miss out with a hamstring strain and illness respectively, while Jadon Sancho is unavailable due to a family bereavement.

Brentford give a debut to recent signing and £4.5m FPL goalkeeper Jonas Lossl, with Mads Bech Sorensen, Mathias Jensen and Sergi Canos also recalled.

Alvaro Fernandez, Rico Henry, Kris Ajer and Shandon Baptiste are all benched.

MATCHDAY LIVE WATCHALONG

In the other match tonight, Leicester welcome back a host of faces from injury and illness.

Kasper Schmeichel, Caglar Soyuncu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Luke Thomas and Patson Daka all return to the starting XI, while defender James Justin is among the substitutes as he makes a matchday squad for the first time in 11 months.

Sergio Reguilon returns from injury for Spurs, with the wing-back, Hugo Lloris and Oliver Skipp the three changes from the EFL Cup semi-final against Chelsea a week ago.

Pierluigi Gollini, Matt Doherty and Giovani Lo Celso make way, while Son Heung-min again misses out because of injury.

The Ronaldo situation is utterly pathetic. The team are literally in the process of celebrating the third goal and the manager feels the need to go to Ronaldo to explain the reason for taking him off at 2 up against Brentford while he's carrying an injury. Everyone else delighted for each other and the two of them having a moment. The manager even has his arm on Ronaldo's leg while he's talking to him. What are the rest of the team supposed to think looking at that. Utterly pathetic

Obviously we don't know what promises were made when he came back but they're certainly not being met nor should they be under new management. He's history to me regarding FPL now. Poisoned chalice indeed.

It's always been about him, not the team. Really don't see how he's not a distraction in that dressing room. He was such an unnecessary signing for a team who seemed to be progressing well at the time.

He's elite and that mentality got him where he is right now.

He's selfish, arrogant, has an incredible work ethic which got him where he is at. He has the winning mentality mindset and wants to play every single minute.

Yes he is going to cause issues when he doesn't agree with decisions but he cares, he wants to win. I'd rather have someone like ronaldo at his age with so much passion than a kid who doesn't give an f just in it for the pay cheque

I'm not saying I understand it fully but I have studied some of the top individuals in sports and they have that same characteristic.

Do you think Michael Jordan was a pleasant guy when things didn't go his way? Do you think he did it for the "Team".

You are quite correct, but the issue now is that the Ronaldo of “right now” is a lot closer to Wizards Jordan than Bulls Jordan with respect to on-the-pitch results

Missed both games today due to work,

    1) How did Spurs look? Were Lei that bad? Surprised to see Kane's numbers in the box

    2) I'm a non-owner unfortunately, but are folks keeping Bruno for the remainder of United's green fixture run? Fixtures great until 28

    Cheers!

Leicester were awful, defence was terrible and all over the place, Tielemans was poor in midfield too and gave the ball away from kick off for the winner. Kane's shooting was pretty poor, should have scored a few or at least had more shots on target.

On Bruno, really not sure. Certainly looks better in the ‘8’ role rather than the ‘10’. The original intention was to use as placeholder for Salah but was also considering of shipping him to KdB (C) ahead of GW23. But will reassess

Rage Wild Card time I think; have come up with this

    Ramsdale - (Sanchez)
    TAA - Robbo - Cancelo - (White - Lowton)
    Salah - KdB - Bowen - Raphina - Coutinho
    DCL - King - (Broja)

Was going to wait until the Chelsea swing, but I really can't get excited about them at the moment.
DCL can be Watkins/Ings/Antonio/Bamford even once he's fit again.

    Questions would be:
    Robbo/Lowton vs Laporte/Digne?
    Sanchez/King vs Foster/Dennis?

    Any thoughts gratefully received.

    1. Trossard and Mount to Maddison and De Bruyne for -4

    2. Trossard and Alonso to De Bruyne and Digne for -4

      DDG.

Norwich are not as bad as people think especially going forward. Watford also have no defense. DDG will get saves and if Antonio has another off-day could even sneak the cleanie.

Of the two goalies, DDG is far more likely to get a double digit haul too than Foster.

worth a punt imo, especially with double rumours. As Bruno said above, minutes are at quesiton though, but we all know he is 100% nailed if fit, and can score like Jota with just 10 mins.
Maddison might continue to go well, but im on wc and not gonna bring him facing those fixtures, he could be a hold though if you already have maybe. I would kinda wait and see what he does, taking out a player who just scored is never a good idea, regardless their fixture

You need to restructure your team by primarly getting Ronaldo out . Then get kdb/Foden and have budget to orher good moves

Hurting over a ridiculous point swing in my ML.
Any advice for this sorry bunch?
    1FT, 3.3 spare.

    Sanchez
    TAA - Cancelo - Alonso
    Mount - Jota - Bowen - Gray
    Ronaldo - King - Antonio

    Saka - Dalot - Marcal

Mount and Ronaldo would be the first to go for me. Then Alonso for their blanks.
Coutinho could be a good swap for Mount this week (If DGW, then yes).
      Ronaldo could be Kane.
If you want Salah back soon, maybe hold this week and then with 2 FTs in GW24 do Ronaldo down then Mount to Salah

For what its worth, I will almost definitely be doing Mount to Coutinho this week. Even without a DGW, Gerrard against Everton seems like its worth going for and Coutinho can be effective with limited minutes.

(Side note: I have Bruno to move out for Salah, so don't need to factor that into my thinking)

but got knocked out of English cup by someone who had Salah(c) and Vardy(vc) and only fielded 8 players.

Last gameweek I made a last minute decision to switch captaincy to Antonio from bowen. This week I had my finger on salah -> Bruno (-4) 1 minute before the deadline and would have captained him but decided against it as I was wary of making another rash decision and I was quite confident the Watford game would go ahead since the Burnley covid cases were already 7+ days old at the deadline. Marginal decisions but a massive impact on my rank! Such fine margins in FPL!!

      Yeah.

It feels like not capping Bowen last week and not doing Salah->Bruno(C), options I hovered over, were critical missteps.

Hopefully that won’t prove to be the case at season’s end.

The moves you suggest are absolutely an upgrade. In my humble opinion Foden is a Top 3 player in PL and I do not think he has been «rotated» for a single GW. Covid/Injurys

    Ramsdale
    Rudiger Trent Cancelo
    Bowen Jota Bruno Martinelli
    Antonio Ronaldo Watkins

    Sanchez Gray Johnson Livra

    A) Livra to Digne and bench Rudiger

Any suggestions for who to bring in for James?

I have Cancelo, TAA, Rudiger and Alonso, so James has to go... Dias? kinda concerned he was rested but apart from Villa and City, not much is jumping out

      Laporte or Digne

Any reason Laporte over Digne? Laporte help save a few pennies for when Salah returns, which helps, but Dias premium pick surely even with that game he missed

Laporte on form. I'd go for form. Digne if its a double Gameweek imo. Villa reasonable strong defensively and decent fixtures.

Take a punt on Digne if you want to move ahead. Lamptey ( essentially midfielder now) also potentially game changer. Protekt rank no one is safe
