Double Gameweek 23 confirmed for Burnley and Watford

Gameweek 23 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) will be a ‘double’ after all – but seemingly only for Burnley and Watford.

The outstanding fixture between the Hornets and the Clarets at Turf Moor will now be accommodated on February 5, over two weeks after the Gameweek 23 deadline passes.

There is space in the schedule for that previously postponed match as only FA Cup round four ties are being contested on that weekend and both clubs are already out of the competition.

Watford also play Norwich City at home in Gameweek 23, with Burnley away at Arsenal.

This is the third time that this fixture has had a date set, with unavailability issues putting paid to the previous two attempts to get the game on.

There has been no word yet on Aston Villa or Leeds, who also have a fixture against one another to fulfil and who are similarly eliminated from the FA Cup.

This line from the Premier League in their own Double Gameweek announcement suggests that will remain the case – although who knows for sure in this topsy-turvy season:

“Crucially, Watford and Burnley are the only two sides who are scheduled to play twice in Gameweek 23.”

HOW THE TOP 10K ARE CURRENTLY SET UP FOR DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 23

Once again we turn to the excellent LiveFPL site for ownership data.

Taking the top 10,000 as a sample, the average FPL manager owns not far off 1.5 Watford players (before Gameweek 23 transfers), with Emmanuel Dennis (£6.1m), Ben Foster ((£4.1m) and Joshua King (£5.8m) mopping up the bulk of that figure:

Burnley are a bit of an afterthought, with bench fodder favourite Josh Brownhill (£4.3m) the most owned at just over 6%.

Most FPL managers within the top 10k own either Dennis or King, with only 4.77% selecting both players – though that number will likely rise a bit by Friday’s deadline:

    A) Start Mount(TOT)
    B) Start ESR(BUR)
    C) Raph(-4)

      A. I don't see ESR starting & Raphina not worth a -4 this gw imo

Why won't ESR start? They have no-one else. Odegaard has joined CM with Xhaka and Partey being out, so ESR has to be number 10 doesnt he?

I think B, even 30 minutes against Burnley for the now fit again, 'mega sub' ESR would be worth it. I get the Raph temptation but he basically never gets more than one assist or one goal so the -4 doesn't feel worth it, as lovely a player as he is

ESR may well have to start given the lack of midfield alternatives (esp after Partey got suspended) but could be hoicked early/given a 30 min cameo. Tricky but probs would hold.

    Current team:

    Ramsdale

    TAA Cancelo Tierney

    Bruno Foden Jota Bowen Saka

    Watkins Dennis (C)

    Subs: De Gea/ Antonio/ Reguilon/ Keane

    1 ft and 2.7 itb

    Should I:
    A. Roll transfer
    B. Keane ----> Laporte and bench Bowen
    C. Antonio ----> King and bench Bowen
    D. Bruno ---> Raphinha

I'd roll. Keep Bowen on and I think double Watford up top is overkill going forward - could pay off this week tho. On the plus side, you only need 1 FT to get Salah back in

roll and get some proper bench fodder next week as you free up funds for Salah

DDG has been such a frustrating keeper to own. Been brilliant and so close to some big hauls but always concedes in the last 10 mins

I call it 'almost a clean sheet' Very frustrating. So ive WC'd him out for Sa/Foster this week.

Still canvassing opinion as it will affect this week's plans.

Seriously considering WC after next deadline, especially as it'll be 2.5 weeks to tinker and hopefully some DGW/BGW news in that time, but would like to get some perspectives please.

    Current set-up for GW23:
    DDG
    TAA, Cancelo, Rudi
    Jota, Bowen, Bilva, ESR
    CR7, Antonio, King

    guaita, gray, alonso, diop

I've got all my chips intact and a WC would let me move out the DDG and Guaita, Diop, Rudi, Alonso, ESR, Gray, Bilva and floundering strikers, whilst preparing the way for Salah and even Son's return whilst also bringing in the likes of Sa, Laporte, Digne, Raphinha, Foden, maybe Maddison, Watkins...but should I wait?

    Dennis' xg delta is crazy.

Do people think that he has been lucky or is a good finisher? Reminds me of Iheanacho's output last season which just kept on going (genuinely feel they are similar ignoring the lazy 'they are both Nigerian srikers' comparison)

Think I am going to go for King anyway as chasing but just interested in thoughts...

I am considering taking a -4 for Hassane Kamara in FanTeam. Wtf even is this season...

It enables Mount > Salah next week since Kamara is a 4.0m in that game.

The highest PPG forward bookending a DGW with games against teams currently sitting in 18th and last positions.
