Double Gameweek 25 for Man Utd and Brighton confirmed

Manchester United and Brighton and Hove Albion will both have a Double Gameweek 25 after the two clubs’ previously postponed fixture was rescheduled for Tuesday 15 February.

United will face Southampton and the Seagulls at home in their double, while Albion travel to relegation-threatened Watford before heading to Old Trafford.

The Premier League announced the new date on Wednesday afternoon when also revealing the television picks for March but no other ‘doubles’ were disclosed in the press release.

Future Double Gameweek announcements could theoretically still follow before we get to the Gameweek 24 deadline.

Some further rearrangements could be rubber-stamped after the completion of the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday 6 February, for instance. The fifth round of this competition takes place in the midweek after Gameweek 27, so any Premier League team already eliminated from the cup by this point could have one of their outstanding league fixtures accommodated then (eg Aston Villa v Burnley):

TOP 10K OWNERSHIP OF MAN UTD AND BRIGHTON PLAYERS

Using LiveFPL’s top 10,000 ownership figures as a gauge of active Fantasy managers, there are just under two assets from Manchester United (1.423) and Brighton (0.54) combined in the average FPL squad.

The most-owned players from the two sides, as of Gameweek 23, are as follows:

INITIAL REACTION TO DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 25

We’re back to the same old question about whether players with two matches in a Double Gameweek, despite misgivings over form and ease of fixtures, are worth trusting over more proven assets who have just the one game.

Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£12.2m) are part of the latter crowd; do we overlook their appealing matches against Burnley and Norwich City respectively for two bites at the cherry with the underperforming Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.5m) and the hot-and-cold Bruno Fernandes (£11.7m)?

Salah in particular averages almost doubles the number of points per match than the premium United pair, so if those means are reproduced in Double Gameweek 25, there will be little between any of them.

PlayerPoints Per Match
Salah8.8
Ronaldo4.8
Fernandes4.7

Fernandes, of course, racked up 23 points in his last Double Gameweek, and there-in lies the temptation when opportunities like this present themselves to us.

One thing you can say about United and Brighton, who blank in Gameweek 24, is that they have decent fixtures either side of the Double Gameweek or after it:

So while the value for money offered by Ronaldo and Fernandes will be debated ad nauseam, the likes of David de Gea (£5.2m), Robert Sanchez (£4.6m) and Leandro Trossard (£6.1m) are fairly low-risk inclusions given that they are unlikely to disrupt the balance of an FPL squad and have decent fixtures around their Double Gameweek.

Albion still have one more outstanding fixture to rearrage, against Spurs, so this could also theoretically be incorporated into a Double Gameweek 26, 28 or 29.

Such an underwhelming announcement. Not a bad news though, it means I won't have to deviate from my initial plans just to fit players with two fixtures in.

    Provisional transfers for GW25

    Foden > Rashford
    Antonio > Wellbeck

    Thoughts?

I wouldn't. City have Norwich that week and Rashford hasn't even been starting games recently.

Have KDB and Cancelo so not too fussed about losing Foden.

Can’t afford Bruno, though. Not normally one to jump on doubles for the sake of it, but it does look good for United. I’ve also secretly wanted Welbeck for a while.

Not really a fan of the other move either. Dat guy welbz not exactly starting games either. He hasn't played 90 minutes once this season. Not sure he is a great pick.

Maupay probably a safer bet if you want someone that is likely to play 90 minutes twice.

Not to mention united have been total trash recently. I wouldn't be going out of my way to bring in united players unless you want them long term.

Brighton are generally pretty solid defensively and Southampton just gave city a good game so I don't think either are going to be easy games.

I was planning Gray to Salah but would you go to Bruno for 24 and double 25 and not get Salah until week 26 v Norwich?

    A Just get Salah immediately
B Get Bruno for 24/25 and then Salah in 26

Which option looks better for the Dgw?
    A)Bruno + maupay
    B)Ronaldo + Trossard
Leaning towards A since Bruno can act as a direct route for salah in gameweek 26..would have to take a hit if I get Ronnie in.

Implausible? Worst defence in the league on form and the best attack in the league with their best players back

5 is improbable but I wouldn’t bet against them getting at least 3 and Leicester always have a goal in them

Don’t get me wrong I think Robbo is a great pick but I think jota can still punish sellers hard

Can't really follow this argument at all.

TAA and Robbo get more attacking returns and bonus than they do CS points.

Jota sellers can only be, sigh, "punished" if you were selling him for a non-Liverpool player to lose the triple up, which I'm not. I'm getting Salah.

    B) Lampty

  21. Tinfoil Deathstar

I own Bruno and Ronaldo. I've got £1.2m ITB to move Bruno straight to Salah with my 1 FT, or could potentially move Ronaldo to Watkins and Jota to Salah for a -4. The additional funds would allow me to upgrade Livramento to someone like Digne the following GW.

Bit of a tricky one. Bruno seems the better United asset at the moment but his productivity does seem to be affected by presence of Ronaldo - so not really convinced on either. The thought of taking a hit to force Jota out also feels a bit unnecessary and quite risky, although potentially he is going to be much more of a minutes risk going forward. Anyone in a similar boat?

    Gunn
    TAA - Cancelo - Laporte - Dier
    Bruno - Jota - Bowen - Martinelli
    Ronaldo - Antonio

    Subs: Sanchez; King, Livramento, Trossard

I have been minded to hold on to my WC for now and I think I'm still leaning that way with this news. Different cases for different teams of course.

Rudiger to Digne or Dalot have been the main moves I've been considering. Dalot would allow me to do Bruno to Salah (if I wait until GW26, which brings its own risks).

The question dominating my plans, like most others: when to bring Salah back?

    Currently 1FT 0.0ITB

    DDG
    TAA Cancelo Rudiger**
    KDB Bruno Bowen Jota
    Antonio Edouard King

    Steele Maddison Johnson Livramento*
