Kane v Son v Kulusevski: The ‘eye test’ analysis for FPL Gameweek 29

Stevie of EyeTestFPL casts the spotlight on more Fantasy Premier League (FPL) options that caught his attention in Gameweek 28, using ‘eye test’ screenshots and information from our Premium Members Area.

Having scored five past Everton in the last league match, Tottenham Hotspur seem to be finding their groove, particularly with the recent emergence of Dejan Kulusevski (£6.1m) and Matt Doherty (£4.7m) down the right flank.

The topic for the best Spurs attacking options has already been widely covered, so I would instead like to take this opportunity to take a slightly deeper dive into Antonio Conte’s best front trio at the moment.

Kane v Son

The best Spurs players for FPL Double Gameweek 29 and beyond

Harry Kane (£12.3m) has certainly been in excellent form, having scored three goals and created one assist over the last two Gameweeks. And, he seems to be building a case for himself as the best Spurs attacker to get in FPL.

However, in this article, I am making the argument that his South Korean teammate, Son Heung-min (£10.8m), may potentially have a greater goal threat than him.

Since Conte’s arrival at the north London club, it has been fairly obvious what the Italian manager wants out of his talismanic striker – to get inside the box as much as possible and score.

Evidently, he has been doing just that, playing much more like an out-and-out striker than during Mauricio Pochettino or Jose Mourinho’s reign when he was playing further away from goal.

However, human instincts are not easily curbed. Being the highly technical player that he is, Kane often finds himself unable to resist the urge to drop deeper on some occasions. That is just who he is as a player and how he wants to express himself on the pitch.

Everton did play a higher line than most teams, making this a game arguably more tailor-made for Son than Kane. Still, there were a couple of instances in which we could see the tendencies of both players – Kane looking to receive the ball near the center of the pitch while Son was spearheading the attack.

I think Kane plays better when he can see the whole play unfolding in front of him, which would further increase the South Korean midfielder’s goal threat.

Frankly, Son looked the more dangerous player in this match. At least, purely based on the eye test.

only saw highlights of real v psg but that defending from PSG is really hard to believe. genuinely looked like some dodgy south american fixture where one side is trying to throw the game on the last day of the season.

Well, except Mpappe the other two strikers are South Americans and those three does not run or track back properly so when the other team just goes for it, like Real did in the second half the games goes like this. While Psg persists on having 3 strikers that not running back

They wont win CL. They have a good defence, a very well set up midfield, but in todays modern fotball at the highest level you need all 11 to be defenders as well. City and Liverpool are by far the best teams in Europe and the reason is the front three and their capacity in the defensive work rate and skill. Thats why Mane is one of the best winger in the world, he is not as good as Mpappe going forward but his defensive skill is just uncomparable. Also, when you "rest" While the other team mates works to get the ball in defense, you are in a much more better state, than for example Mane who works his socks off to participate to get the ball back, then your accuracy is not that high than for a player who just waited and done nothing.

It is a mentality issue first and foremost. Watch their body langugae after 1st goal. They choked. Real needed still two goals to advance. Weak mentality was always their biggest enemy.

Hard call, looks nice on paper but Southampton are very good at home and Watford have started leaking goals again. Kulusevski has a double plus a fixture in GW30 though so can't argue against the move

Only a couple of days ago there were 37 air attacks by Saudi Arabian bombers taking out civilians in Yemen. This was not in the news because unlike Ukrainian people, Yemon people are unfashionable victims so no one cares about them? I hope you agree that if we support the victims of Ukraine, we must also support the victims of Yemen. So where is the media outrage of Yemen? Where are the Yemen flags at premiership football matches? Why are Saudi owners of Newcastle not being sanctioned? Total hypocrisy!

Fully agree, and it's really annoyed me about the media in this country.

There have been countless wars and invasions in other countries in the recent years but they haven't covered them with anywhere near as much ferocity and compassion. You have to question why that is.

It's not more clear cut than Iraq, where the obvious aggressors received no international sanction.

Don't think you'll find a more clear cut aggressor than Putin here. Ukraine is also closer to home whereas again Iraq War was murky

Iraq was murky only for those living in the west

The Ukraine flag displays at clubs whose owners are murdering civilians on the daily was another level of hypocrisy.

There is no principle at play in geo-politics, only public opinion. Public opinion is heavily influenced by what the media presents and covers and how it does so. It is also influenced by inherent prejudices and blindspots and perceived self-interest.

All you are saying really is that the human race is a disgrace. I agree. The ones that suffer are the ordinary, simple people and it was always that way. But those ordinary, simple people have the same flaws and blindspots and are usually capable - in another circumstance - of being the bad guy towards some other group who is even weaker.

Hominids, yes. Sapient? Not sure that's a deserved term. Homo deformis might be a better description.

So how does this Chelsea sanction end? Will it just keep going until Chelsea are bankrupt?

    What's the exit condition?

Sale of the club has been put on hold.

Maybe an Abramovich bribe will do it.

No point in a sale now, the cash would just go straight to Government.

I think the whole point of the sanctions is that Abramovich will never be able to sell it, nor will he be able to make money from it. He should still be able to divest himself of it by giving it away, which he pretended he was doing a week or so ago with that transparent passing the management to "the trustees of the club's charitable foundation". Everyone knows what that meant really, and it clearly didn't go far enough.

Interesting thanks. So the exit condition is him giving Chelsea away for free?

        Yeah, that won't happen...

That would be my guess? And who he gives it to would be under immense scrutiny. I don't think he could just give it to one of his unsanctioned oligarch mates, for example. The only way for the government to ensure that he can't exert any influence would be for it to go to a supporters' trust or something. I'm not an expert though! this is all very complicated.

Probably he will be able to complete transaction but he will not be able to keep money. All proceed from the transaction will be seized.

    Ramsdale
    TAA Saiss Rudiger James
    Salah Son Coutinho Raphinha

To prep for DGW29 and BGW30:

    1. James Son Jimenez >> Doherty Saka Kane (-8)
