What is your Team of the Season so far? Mine would be something like:
    Ramsdale;
    Alexander-Arnold, Cancelo, Robertson;
    Salah, Son, KDB, Bowen, Saka;
    Kane, Ronaldo.

KDB, Kane and Ronaldo have only played six matches between them for my own team (it is difficult to afford all the best players) but they probably deserve to be there anyway.
However, if I replaced them with others who have done well for my team then their replacements would be James, Coutinho and Antonio.

Just to be clear, are we talking from a FF perspective or from a watching real football perspective as they can be very different things ?

Thiago Silva has been incredible for Chelsea this season but at no point would I ever consider him in my FF team.

I owned Bruno twice (GW1-5, GW25-28) and he absolutely killed it so he deserves to be in there. Antonio and Benrahma during timescale GW1-5 were phenomenal picks. James between GW11-21 deserves a honorable mention too and Gallagher surprised me with some unexpected hauls (GW6-19).

      Salah, Son, Saka, Jota,
      Antonio

No stand out goalkeepers, but Sa has been very good for their price.

5 at the back fits my fantasy season and James has been huge when I’ve owned him. James, Chilwell, Trent and Cancelo pushed me up the ranking middle of the season!

Feels harsh to drop Bowen out of midfield, but I’ve not owned him often this season.

Kane / Ronaldo have been too inconsistent upfront and Antonio was huge first half of the season. No striker has been good throughout imo - would rather have an extra midfielder if valid formation!

Based on the replies so far, Ramsdale, TAA, Robertson, Cancelo, Salah and Saka are in everyone's team, and the most popular combined team (4-5-1) is:

      Ramsdale
      TAA, Cancelo, Robertson, James
      Salah, Saka, Son, Bowen, Jota
      Kane or Antonio

      Ramsdale
      TAA, Cancelo, Robertson; Rudiger
      Salah, Son, Bowen, Saka, Kulusevski,
      Kane

Didn't own James at the right times other than his 18 point GW28 haul.

Matip: Played once for 19 pts (benched twice at 7 ppg)

my top 15 players according to this site

      https://fploptimized.com/highlights.html

      Sanchez(60)
      TAA(153), Cancelo(130), Reguilion(38)
      Salah(411), Son(161), Coutinho(86), Jota(80), Bruno f(63)
      Kane(126), Antonio(68)

      DDG(27), Ronaldo(60), White(29), Livramento(22)

some interesting picks, with Bruno, Antonio & Reggie there, despite me only fielding them, 4, 5 & 6 times respectively, also the structure of my team has more or less been the same all season except for a brief spell with cheap forwards,

and lol @ Reggie being my 3rd best defender on 38pts but i've been swapping around that position all season for the best fixtures and just mostly leaving my heavy hitters in place so it makes sense i suppose 🙂

Just read Simon March's article on the top 50,000 being the "new top 10,000". Pointless commenting under that one 'cause it was a fair few articles ago but great article as always.

Personally I enjoy the game more when my only aim is to play it better than I did the previous season. If that results in a good rank then great but if I don't get the luck but at least know I've made fewer silly mistakes and based my decisions on better info then I am happy.

I havent' read that piece but I'll take it as my rank right now is 50k!

In my head top10k was still very much in reach but then I checked on liveFPL and realised I am 73 pts short! Beating last season will not be a problem (famous last words) but beating my top season will probably never happen.

I've always aimed for top 10%. Some seasons have worked out better than others. What I find gets in the way is firstly concentrating on my random H2H league (won that this gw) and then my Invitational League (about 50 ahead of 2nd atm). Decisions made on players based on these priorities don't always help towards Overall Rank. Keeps me engaged though. Unless I'm still having a stinker season on all fronts come March. There could always be a Cup Comp I've somehow fluked my way through though !

The top 170/180k or so is the top 2% of the game so it's certainly something to think about with the number of players the game reaches each year these days. Add into it the number of YouTube and Twitter accounts that focus on FPL and it's certainly harder as the years go on.

My first time playing FPL was in the noughties when I was a teen just playing casually and I went on and off it, but last year was the first time I've ever actually made a proper effort at the game and I've tried to improve again this year (even with my efforts last year I still fell into my usual habits of taking hits nearly every week and having no patience in general). I'm currently sitting at 140k and will be delighted if I finish anywhere around that. Nothing compared to the insane ranks I see here most days but it's good for me and I still try to play my own game and like taking punts for a bit more enjoyment and fun.

    2 FT 0.0 ITB, FH in GW37.

    Ramsdale
    TAA Cancelo James

    Kane Weghorst

    Foster Broja Schar Doherty

    A) Kane, Martinelli, Weghorst to Richarlison, Son and Nketiah -4
    B) Weghorst Doherty to Fodder and Laporte
    C) Kane Mount Doherty to Richarlison Son and Laporte-4

If you're set on the Kane to Son move, then C over A. I think there might be more inspiring moves than B - like downgrading Mount to bring in Laporte or Richarlison (if the funds work).

Bottomed. Broja, Gelhart & Barnes to Richarlison, Dennis and Gordon for a -8 gives a BB of:

    Schmeichel, Foster
    Trent, James, White, Cancelo, Laporte

    Kane, Richarlison, Dennis

Unless Spurs beat Liverpool, then Chelsea almost certain to finish above them, particularly if they beat Wolves on Saturday. In that case fair chance of Alonso in particular, and Mount and even Mendy, being rested for the Leeds game. Without that I'd have said a good team.

I feel like I need to use my second free hit simply because I don't have any City players yet. If I try to squeeze in three, I'm already on - 8 or - 12. Activating chip also means I'm not starting the biggest and probably the most important DGW of the season with 8 or 12 points less than the majority of serious FPL managers. I would say that at least 1 million of those are using either WC, FH or BB and therefore have some kind of advantage comparing to those, who are just taking hits.

    1. Chelsea91
      • 5 Years

I would say FH in 36 is far better than 37 because you can take advantage on title chaser DGW.

Honestly I've seen far better players than me looking likely to take minimum -4/-8 this week. It's a huge DGW so hits will be taken. As circumstances have it I may end up only using my FT but it depends on each case, there's always a better argument in a DGW for taking a hit than in another one. If you have the right moves there for those hits and the rest of your team is good then I wouldn't waste the FH.

    A. Kulu, Watkins > Foden, Nketiah (-4) --> bench Digne, Weggy, Broja
    B. Robbo, Digne > Laporte, Dias (-4) --> bench Kulu, Weggy, Broja

Just think you'll probably want the Rich (C) option in 37 - assuming you don't have FH

            TAA - VVD - Cash
            Salah - Kulu - Saka - Gordon - Cout

Richarlison/Jesus just seems more sexy - probably the sensible option.

Isn't Mahrez worth a shot on FH? Had a lot of rest recently. RMFHT:

    Schmeichel
    Matip TAA Cancelo
Saka Mahrez KDB Salah Maddison(if Lei go out)
    Richarlison Nketiah

How do I fix this bag of crap, have 11 DGW but half of them wont play both games. Have 2Ft and happy to take -16/-20 to have 15 DGW and BB if I could pull it off?

    Ramsdale**
    TAA Alonso AIt-N
    Son Barnes Saka Maddy Havertz
    Kane Jimmy

    Sanchez Wood Dalot Roberts

tough situation, that team is in mess if looking for a BB

Jimenez to Watkins and Wood to Richarlison would be my first 2 moves. To enable this, Havertz to Martinelli. Thats -4pts for this week.

      Bench would be : Sanchez(MUN), Barnes(DGW), Roberts(AVL), Dalot(bha)

This looks pretty meh to me. I guess no cash to upgrade these bench players to City or Liverpool defenders? If you do have cash, then Dalot to Matip and hope for best.

If no, then I would recommend to delay BB till next week, take another -4pts and roll with better bench. Even Roberts will have a DGW next week. Sanchez will be against Leeds.

          Then its little bit tricky.

Wood to one of the cheap forwards
          Jimenez to Richarlison
          Dalot to Matip
          Havertz to Martinelli

Not the best bunch but will hopefully do the job.

Apart from Dubravka > Schmeichel are there any other changes that you would do to this BB36 team (max -8)

    Schmeichel Ramsdale

    Cancelo Rudiger Laporte White Castagne

    Salah Saka Ramsey Kuluveski Barnes

    Pukki Dennis Kane

    0.1 ITB 1FT

    Any ideas would be welcomed

How does this look for a WC team? I know there's no Salah, but I've only got 1 mini league left to play for where I'm currently second, 40 odd points behind (150 ahead of third) and trying to build a different team to the person on top!

    Schmeichel // Steele
Robertson, Alonso, Cancelo // Cash, Emerson Royal
    Saka, Maddison, KDB, Diaz, Son
    Jesus, Richarlison // Young-Coombes

A bit lost on what to do here for BB.
Do I lose Mount or Kane to upgrade Doherty/Martinelli/Broja?
Or if I do Martinelli to Gordon/KDH, I could do Doherty to 5.3 def, or Broja to Nketiah....

    Sanchez Foster
    TAA Robbo Cancelo James Doherty
    Salah Mount Saka Martinelli Ramsey
    Kane Mateta Broja

Any help what to do with this lot?
My original plan was to bring in foden for Barnes, but after CL 120 mins I'm hesitant.

    BB36, FH37
    Schmeichel - foster
    Cancelo - taa - James - rudiger - schar
    Mount - Salah - saka - Barnes - son
    Pukki - weghorst - nketiah

I’d get rid of Schar for a doubler and would leave Foden.
