FPL Daily: Firmino and Ramsey injury updates

We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a series that services weekdays where there is no press conference round-up or Premier League match.

KLOPP ‘HOPES’ FOR FIRMINO INVOLVEMENT

Jurgen Klopp hopes Roberto Firmino (£8.7m) will be fit for Liverpool’s crucial trip to Aston Villa on Tuesday.

The Reds’ number nine has not played since picking up a foot issue in the victory over Manchester City at Wembley in April, but returned to training last week and could be available for the second part of Liverpool’s Gameweek 36 double-header.

“Bobby [Firmino] now trained before the last game [for] two days. We don’t train a lot so he always has to do more, that is what he is still doing. So, [a] decision for tomorrow. He gets closer and closer and closer. Hopefully he can be involved.” – Jurgen Klopp

Klopp also went on to discuss team selection, and the challenges he faces at this stage of the season.

“Yeah, it’s a challenge, to be honest. But very often the decisions get easier with all the information I get from the medical department because then I don’t have to choose between all of them, I have only a few. In these short periods between the games I didn’t get all the information yet, or not the final information, so when I leave here I go to the medical department and collect some more and then we will see. Is it difficult? It’s challenging, that’s it.” – Jurgen Klopp

RAMSEY TO MISS LIVERPOOL CLASH

Steven Gerrard has confirmed Jacob Ramsey (£4.7m) will miss the visit of Liverpool on Tuesday.

The midfielder sat out Saturday’s 3-1 win at Burnley with a groin injury but could return for the weekend’s game at Crystal Palace, the first of two fixtures for Aston Villa in Double Gameweek 37.

“With injuries, we’re the same as we were. JJ [Ramsey] won’t make it. He’s got a decent chance for the weekend, but Liverpool’s come too soon, which is disappointing. I’m sure he would have been desperate to challenge himself against Liverpool. The squad will be very similar to what it was against Burnley.” – Steven Gerrard

As well as Ramsey, Leon Bailey (£6.3m) and Kortney Hause (£4.4m) missed Villa’s win at Turf Moor through injury.

HAALAND TO CITY?

According to media reports, Erling Haaland is close to completing a move to Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund.

The Norwegian forward has scored 85 goals in 88 matches for Dortmund since joining from RB Salzburg in January 2020, and last year became the youngest player to reach 20 Champions League goals.

City, meanwhile, have played without an orthodox centre-forward following the exit of Sergio Aguero, with Phil Foden (£7.9m), Gabriel Jesus (8.6m), Bernardo Silva (£7.0m), Jack Grealish (£7.5m) and Raheem Sterling (£10.5m) all tasked with leading the line at times this season.

13m, maybe 12.5. Will be one to avoid initially unless he's a fair bit cheaper than that but 10.5m is surely wishful thinking.

Evening all!! Current FH draft, a lot will depend on the Liverpool cup final team sheet, Thinking of a balance of Single and double gameweek players and higher Owned players too….

    Pickford
    Robertson Cancelo Cash
    Salah Son Jota Zaha
    Richarlison Ings Watkins
    3.9 Delph Coady, Veltman

    Thoughts welcomed!!

More or less my draft as well, only Son & Jota for Myko & KDB in first 11. I'm always apprehensive of early kickoffs, although Tot-Bur match does look tasty on paper.

Not even through GW36 and already with a benching headache for GW37. Have Mateta and Cash both with doubles and on my bench.

Would you play Cash over Alonso or James? I also have TAA and Cancelo, but they aren't going anywhere.

What combination would you pick on FH for GW37?

Hoping to gain some points for an admittedly unlikely push for top 10k. Fairly template FH, but slight twist with double Liverpool attack and double Everton defence. Thoughts? Could do Gordon over Holgate as well.

    Pickford
    Cash Digne TAA Holgate
    Salah Mane Son Zaha
    Richarlison (c) Kane

Thanks. Good luck to you all on the home stretch.

I'm fairly similar in my thoughts, although I'll probably do Salah + Jota/Diaz and won't have Kane. I wanted Mina in defence but his injury means I'll need to look at Mykolenko or Holgate instead who I'm less hopeful on but we'll see how things look.

Double Everton d is obviously slightly crazy. But they are playing better and I am currently at 29k (hopefully gain a bit more ground the rest of this week). Agree re comment I am perhaps too template. Am tempted to drop Salah, but …

Again, how can you justify Zaha who plays Everton and Villa, and then pick double Villa defence and double Everton defence. Backing 2 horses in the same race.

According to Sky Bayern may be making a move for Mane and apparently his contract talks have been "difficult" with him unhappy Salah's contract has been the priority. Honestly I'd be surprised if one of him, Salah or Firmino doesn't move on this summer

Mane and Salah haven't been best friends, don't know the exact reason, both seem to be nice persons. Rivals?

    2. Boberella
      • 7 Years

I think it would do Mane good to move on now. They’ve definitely had an interesting relationship, but think Mane needs to be the main man somewhere. Firmino will play less and less (although he’ll stay as backup as klopp loves him so much) and they have to give Diaz and Jota good minutes.

Many are trying to climb in ranks, but I am having real trouble to try to find a way to climb about 20 pts to top 10k. If I play conservative, I won't catch those ahead of me. If I take hits and get dgw players in, I will lose to FH template because of the hits. I am starting now to think, that only possibility is a real differential captain. Not very happy with the idea of C Cash/Digne/Zaha, but I feel like I need to catch a monster haul from my C.

Seems lots of people are gonna captain Richarlison, so Cap is where you can make up the points.
I’m probably gonna go safer with Son as I think dpi by Cash, Digne, Xaha etc is too risky.

A couple of weeks ago I was excited at the prospect of Vardy in my FH37 team. Not that sure now really. He hasn’t exactly come back from injury firing on all cylinders and clearly not 100% fit, so minutes are a real issue.
Leicester don’t have much to play for and have injury issues in the team. Awkward price point too, so rest of team suffers too much if taking the punt on him.

Nah, Pep will bugger about with him for 6 months before he lets him off the leash. Might even do dumb stuff like playing him wide. That's what he did with Lewandowski and it's what he did with Aguero too. He won't allow Haaland to play like he does for Dortmund.

Yes I am thinking of switching Salah to Son for final 2 weeks (have KDB) as likely to captain week 37 and definitely captain in 38. Like you willing to take risk to try and improve present 30 K ranking and ML league won. Díaz my Liverpool punt for this week and then 37 and 38.

Bust up they say. Alonso forgot to defend as much as Tuchel wanted, I believe. More than annoying 🙁

Can't believe I have 2 chips left in the final two gameweeks and I'm not even satisfied that they will boost my rank

It’s not ridiculous to not use them if you don’t think you need to.
I spaffed by FH in 33 backing average players from average teams and dropping the likes of Salah etc. Biggest mistake of my season.

Tbf you could just use it to make 2 transfers and avoid a -4 or something!

            Rams
            Taa cancelo robbo James
            Salah Kulu Havertz Saka
            Eddie Riccy

            Ddg Ramsey Weggy Schar

            £2.0m ITB

I will probably fh this week and figure out how to form a strong bench for gwk38

BB is a poor chip anyway
If you have a few playing players on your bench in 38, you never know you might get a return from say a Weghorst home goal

Yeah, they need to replace BB next year with 2 captains in one gwk

Yes, that's what I would do. Last week BB even with hits has huge upside potential.

What would you do? 2FT / 0.9 bank

    Schmeichel
    TAA / Robertson / Cancelo / James
    Salah / Mount / Kulusevski / Coutinho
    Kane / Watkins

    Foster / Amartey / Brownhill / Gelhardt

    Could do:
    A) In: Richarlison / Delph
    Out: Gelhardt / Kulusevski

I don’t love losing Kulu with those 2 games left but it could be worth it. I can’t really see anything else I’d do with that team - looks great!

I might rather sell Mount than Kulu.

I just checked scout tweets in case I’d missed something and can’t see anything. Do you just mean because of the talk of a rest? I don’t think anyone here’s going to know on that (unless you’re just wanting people’s guesses)

There was talk of it originally but the fact he came off early last game probably means another start IMO

Ah, he just means the rest then? Yeah, I’m with you. Think he just tries and gets another 60 out of him

Yeah sorry for being unclear, I missed the Spurs game and saw he came off at 60-odd so wondered if it was a knock. Sounds like it was just rest. Thanks!

      Big possibility.
Tsimikas is more than reliable deputy to him. Many pool fans said his delivery is better than robertson. He deserve a start

Need your know how please...I can BB in 37 or in 38. As of now 38 looks a lot better. Would that be taking too big a risk? Are teams drastically changed in the last week? Current team .2mib 1FT

    Ramsdale - Dubravka
Alonso - Matip- TAA - White - Cancelo
    Saka - Mount - Son - Salah - DH
    Kane - Mateta - Gelhardt
